“Seems like we can only count on ourselves for welcome back parties, huh? Wha–I mean, it’s just, the last time I was here you were gone. I just thought you’d be in Idris still, I guess. It’s… good to see you again,” he gave a simple nod. He was taken back a bit at the mention of Izzy. She was back? Her return was probably the last thing he expected. He didn’t know whether to be excited or terrified, “Doreen Green? She’s the Marvel superheroine better know as Squirrel Girl… Why do you have a squirrel, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Yeah, pretty much. I’ll give you a balloon if you want,” she offered. Seraphina shrugged, “I wanted to get out of Idris as soon as possible. Clave is getting worried. Downworlders are helping Morgenstern. They’re worried that anyone who has Downworlder and Nephilim parents could be helping him,” the girl passively explained. “Never heard of her. I found him. He’s little and doesn’t have parents. Plus, I like animals more than people.”

Simon stopped in his tracks when he spotted his daughter. He stood gaping for a split second before giving a smile, “Oh… Well that’s a real shame,” he started, too distracted by the shadowhunter to really care anymore, “–I, uh, wasn’t expecting to see you here,” he attempted to be casual, leaning against the door to close it. His eyes shot to he coat pocket she seemed to be protecting. “Whatcha got there?” he could sense he creatures heart beat pounding quickly, “Is that… is that a squirrel?? Good god, what are you? Doreen Green?”
Seraphina gave a nod, “I know. Everyone had to have missed me. But, nothing,” she sighed. The teen raised an eyebrow and let out a bit of a laugh. “Where else would I be? Please. Mum sent me here and then disappeared for a while. She’s back, though,” her reply came out as a slight scoff. Sera glanced down at her pocket and looked up at Simon again. “Yeah? And what’s a Doreen Green?”

“I did say at some point,” he pointed out before taking another breath from his cigarette and breathing it out of the window. “I would bet good money that you will go Taki’s at some point, even if it’s for drunk food.”
“Nope,” Sera chirped. She turned to Matt with a glint in her eyes. “I’m about to prove you wrong and not go there.”

“ Of course. I mean, I was going to explore night life and if anything I came across anything unusual, then I’d take care of it. I don’t look for trouble, mum. That’s a load. “

“And I imagine you’re going to stop for Taki’s at some point right?” Matt chuckled as he breathed out smoke, looking up at Seraphina from on the steps of the Institute entrance, cigarette dangling from his fingers.
“Nah, probably not. Ate here. But maybe later... if I’m hungry,” Sera replied, pulling on some boots.
