I’m sorry I’ve been AWOL. Someone at work quit unexpectedly and I have literally been doing both our jobs since July 31st. My sanity is very suspect, but I started making some changes to my new program and everyone in management is very on board and it’s going to keep getting easier as I go. I’m still here and I’m still obsessed with Bagginshield and Ori/Dwalin (Orwin?) and everything that has to do with Tolkien. Every day I wake up and think “just keep swimming” and it takes all my time to get done what I need to, without any spare time for what I want to. But I will be back, as soon as I can get the other position covered.

If you followed me for Tolkien content, I will be back. I ENJOY this. I want to do it again.

To all my mutuals, I love you and I will probably deep dive into everything I missed when I get the chance.

I saw a post saying that Boromir looked too scruffy in FotR for a Captain of Gondor, and I tried to move on, but I’m hyperfixating. Has anyone ever solo backpacked? I have. By the end, not only did I look like shit, but by day two I was talking to myself. On another occasion I did fourteen days’ backcountry as the lone woman in a group of twelve men, no showers, no deodorant, and brother, by the end of that we were all EXTREMELY feral. You think we looked like heirs to the throne of anywhere? We were thirteen wolverines in ripstop.

My boy Boromir? Spent FOUR MONTHS in the wilderness! Alone! No roads! High floods! His horse died! I’m amazed he showed up to Imladris wearing clothes, let alone with a decent haircut. I’m fully convinced that he left Gondor looking like Richard Sharpe being presented to the Prince Regent in 1813

And then rocked up to Imladris a hundred ten days later like

so I’ve been meaning to put this on tumblr and keep forgetting but, in the campaign I’m running my sister is playing an orc fighter, and one of the options you can pick for a fighter’s signature weapon is that it “glows in the presence of [fill in the blank].”

I was like, “oh, that’s funny because it’s a reference to that sword in The Hobbit that glows in the presence of orcs. Your weapon probably doesn’t glow in the presence of orcs.”

to which she responded, “FUCK YEAH it does.”

So now we have in the party an orc fighter with a club that glows in the presence of orcs. Or, as far as the character is concerned, a club that glows. It’s been in her family for generations since some ancestor won it in a battle, and it’s just always glowed. She has a sack to put it in when she’s trying to be stealthy.
