U Did The Thing

Tasks are super hard (esp when you're depressed, etc.), and victories are forgotten quickly! Document mundane and spectacular triumphs here and give them the celebration they deserve.

Got a few things done!

-Cleaned the living room and the kids' bedroom

-Asked relatives for help! (that's a big deal! :D )

-Sent the old bed over to Abuela's house

-Got rid of the loveseat that we didn't have room for

-Got rid of 10 bags of clothes that didn't fit/we weren't wearing

-Mulched the iris area with leaves

-Did all of my homework early for my college classes

-Checked in with Eastside Urban Farm and Garden to plan garden things for home and at work

It's been busy!

cleaned out nasties from the fridge, did grocery shopping, made breakfast for 4 people, washed dishes, made fancy cake, washed the dishes from the cake making, and ran a load of laundry (it's still in the dryer but hush). I have been up since about 3 AM.

i did a lot of self-care hygiene maintenance stuff today..! °bathed °trimmed toenails °painted clear coat on toenails °applied jojoba oil to face, scalp, elbows, arms, and hands (winter is sooooo dry) °tweezed/tidied eyebrows °brushed teeth °cleaned phone screen with a sanitizing wipe °picked out pleasant clothes °ate good food °drank water °took helpful supplements and it didn't take that long (or... it didn't feel like a chore, anyway?)

i found a vacuum cleaner by the dumpster! i’ve needed a vacuum cleaner for a while, and since i live in an area where people will throw things out that totally work but may need minor maintenance, i’m gonna fix it up and then have a vacuum cleaner. 

i’m so excited!

the tomatoes got blown about in the rain and wind yesterday, so we had to cut down the original supports and rework the suspension system. In the declining evening light, and then under flashlight, we made a new support system and tied everything back up. Hopefully it will look as cool as we think it does when we can see it in the daylight. we're due for more rain over the next week. Don't burst, tomatoes! (They're gonna burst.)

jeezuz h christ I, after an hour of fiddling, managed to make the half-bath door correctly latch AND lock. Bathroom security +1! (The main fix was grinding out a little bit of the bottom of the hole in the strike plate.)

cleaned the kitchen and then hosted a pretty big meal to feed five people. We made enormous burgers, teeny fries, mochas, and had leftover apple pie. i didn't do dishes after (because it was after midnight), but i don't feel bad about it because it doesn't look half as bad as before we started clean up.

Started cutting back old marionberry and raspberry canes. Fruiting is nearly over and the pleasant, breezy day today meant it was a good time to do yard work. I got a few scratches, plus some tree sap on my shirt~! Also washed the bedding today, so it smells and feels nice.

Went swimming at the pool at my apartment complex today! Despite having lived here for five months, this was the first time I’d gone! Take THAT, anxiety! It took a while, but I beat you this time!

I asked for help maintaining the garden at the school I work at. I hate asking for help, but I did it. :D

The response from the community was large and immediate! My students and the science students will be coming back to the school to a living garden and not the sad wilted patch it was a few weeks ago. I also wrote out the curriculum for all of next year.

Went to Portland with friends to help them purchase and drive their new bus back to Olympia, which will shortly be refurbished to personal taste and be their new home!

It was a. very. long. day. (I was out of the house for 9 hours, while on the crampy part of my period).

And I had trouble eating enough, but my lovey brought home dinner when I got back, and it was great.

I worked hard to keep drinking water, too. Still working on it…

I hung out with friends today at the Pacific Northwest Mushroom Festival. I haven’t seen these friends all summer. <3

I got my wisdom teeth taken out and I didn’t even have a panic attack beforehand!

I made a food item! And did the dishes from it! THE SAME DAY!

I just finished a several hour long deep cleaning of my bedroom. The dust level had gotten pretty bad and had messed up my allergies equally bad, so I’m hoping this will help. It’s also nice to have a living space free of clutter, and I was even able to throw away some items from a dark time in my life that I previously couldn’t bring myself to.

I picked up the VHS tapes that got kicked off a table a month ago and have been lying on the floor ever since
