Is Luca naked? No, but he does take off his shirt a couple of times. Also his legs are like completely hairless?? Has anyone ever noticed that? They shaved his legs!

There are problems in The Old Guard fandom that should be pointed out. But as a Muslim man who has lived in Morocco and Jordan as well as in the UK… I am feeling very uncomfortable with how much people are speaking for me in regards to Joe and this fandom. People from North Africa and Middle East are not a monolith, yet you’re talking like they are.

Education is great, but the constant barrage of anger at anything that could be the slightest bit problematic is a massive issue. That is not just in this fandom. I left tumblr because of it. But I loved the movie, and someone close to me asked me about this issue, so here I am. And now I’m invested.

Am I, a brown, Muslim, Moroccan man, problematic because I prefer to be dominant when in comes to intimacy? Because you sure seem to think people liking Top!Joe are racist and inherently problematic So? Am I? Is my very existence a problem for you? Would you prefer if I always submitted to white men? Because obviously Joe needs to submit to Nicky.

Did that all sound INSANE to you? Because as someone who has just joined this fandom and wanted to get involved, that is how you come across. I came here because I was asked by @odyssxus if a fit she wrote was problematic after someone said it was. Hint - it was not. In the slightest. I dare you to read it and tell me otherwise. Go on. Do it. I am literally daring you. Read it and tell me what is so wrong about it. But you won’t, because people keep posting abut how much wrong there is in this fandom, and then not citing anything. “It was all top Joe at the beginning!”. Cool. It’s not anymore. “They have a discord group!” Okay. Make your own then. And it means “they” aren’t on here?

Please start actually practising what you preach, and stop putting words in my mouth. I am more than capable of calling out racism when I see it.

Marwan Kenzari as Idris in Instinct (2019) dir. Halina Reijn

A little review to those who hasn't watch it.

I want to talk about the brilliant of this movie. It was a little bit hard to watch because of sexual abuse theme but surprisingly this movie didn't sexualize the abuse or anything. Movie directed by woman we can see the distinction in the way woman see woman through lense and it played a huge part in making this movie presented this way.

The way this movie deal with the main character abuse and trauma was also something worthy of noticing, the way it present the abuse scene with the mother and especially the rape scene with Idris, both were not shown as something sexual, no unnecessary body part showing. it was just assault, the camera focus was more on how all of this was difficult and painful for her.

The tittle instinct was about Nicoline's instinct to recognize sexual predator when she saw one because she is still abused by one. She tried to lure Idris (Marwan character) sexual predator instinct out in the open because she can sense it despite his manipulative ability, already able to convince everyone around him that he is a changed man, that he will not assaulted anyone anymore. Nicoline herself clearly still trying to deal with her own issue of self worth, can't try to get away from her own abuse and her own twisted way of wanting to be abused, but she fights that instinct and teaching herself even though it's hard, that it is not right to treat human being that way, not even her and stand up for herself and hope she safe others too by doing so. I just overall fascinated by this movie and the way everything play out in the end.

8.5/10 for interesting movie and Marwan amazing performance as a scary manipulative psychopath sexual predator
