So yeah... these folks are going to be the full crew over there once it’s up and running... but also as a bonus... Riley has his own side-blog. For him and his full crew. So yeah...

Also...

Before I forget, got some news relating to the main face of the blog... Their name... at this point... I think I’m going to be stepping back from Hybrid as their name. Due to identity issues. So when the blog is officially up and running, their name... is going to be Hooky. Yes.

Like their ghost self...

Also on that note! 

Change of plans regarding the status of threads and the events within them. Since Hooky’s getting a name change... it’s going to be... a bit different. We’re hitting the RESET button folks... but not in the typical way...

Events are getting reversed, round back. And on that note you can consider threads “dropped” but... BUT! The connections and emotional development can be kept. It’s only events that have been set back to zero.

Time has reversed but the progress made is still there. If that makes sense...

Anyone who I have threads with... please get in contact with me either here, or @aramat-mayhem-hub or even on my personal: @tammyhybrid21 to discuss further... for clarification, or in regards to what to do with the thread events. Because on my end...

I’m wiping the slate clean of events, but keeping emotional connections for Hooky...

Reaching For A Glimmer Of Hope

Back at the rickety old treehouse, Arthur busied himself with even more research concerning the broken anchor until he couldn’t see straight, somehow finding the strength to don the old star badge with enough coaxing from his trusted long time animal companion, although it wasn’t able to bring joy to the blond like it used to. 

Too much had happened between when he had failed to reason with the cave spirit and now, blaming himself for not being stronger. If only he had seeked out someone that could’ve helped him harness his medium-soleil skills properly, then Lewis would still be here. Vivi wouldn’t be so heart broken, and Mystery wouldn’t have disappeared to parts unknown. All of it could’ve been prevented, but Arthur knew he couldn’t undo what had been already done.

Still, it pained him whenever he looked out the window into the woods to see the cloud of magenta hued static overhead, the aimless glitched form of the petal ghost never having left the area. Without his locket and by extension his flower tracking magic, he was trapped and unable to travel. 

Some part of the mechanic wanted to believe Lewis had stayed to watch over him, as the smallest of his personal followers managed to survive the attack. However, with very little hope to go off of, it was probably just wishful thinking.

Pushing those thoughts aside for the time being, Arthur got up from his work table with a soft sigh, beginning to wonder where Remington was.

“Maybe I should go look for him, he hasn’t had his dinner yet…” The blond mumbled to himself, stretching before making his way outside.      

Tamika’s yelling stops as they’re lead down the streets and towards the forest. Until they’re slowing down, pausing at the edge and gazing up warily at the ominous purple cloud overhead. They know that as far as anyone’s aware it doesn’t do much, but there’s still this hair on end feeling that they get from just being near it.

And the voice in the back of their mind whispers something, and they roll their eyes, ignoring it. Taking a deep breath, squaring their shoulders, gazing into the woods and stepping forwards.

For a moment, a brief moment they could almost imagine themself as a child again, off on an adventure, eager to explore and discover-

‘But those days are gone’

They shake the familiarity away, instead growling. Brushing non-existent dirt from their labcoat and purposefully swishing it as they make their way forwards. They only stop again when they hear a light chittering sound, look up and, there’s the rat. About the size of a possum if they had to guess, and watching them with crimson eyes, whiskers twitching. It reminds them of something, and for a moment they falter.

‘You still miss your little buddy, your partner... how cute’

“Shut up Kae...” they mutter beneath their breath. Before they’re moving, with a howl after the rat as it dashes. Only hesitating once more as they spot a treehouse, an unfamiliar sense of recognition flashes through them. And they pause frowning, wondering at the feeling.

Reaching For A Glimmer Of Hope

It had been another long night for the mechanic, barely able to keep his eyes open as he continued to look for something that had seemed to be lost to him forever. No amount of wishing would ever reverse what damage had been done to him and his friends, although he wasn’t about to give up just yet. There had to be a piece to the puzzle he was missing. A solution he was too tired to see.

Feeling a familiar paw rest itself on his cheek, Arthur turned to the only companion he had left by his side, other than the large rat who appeared to be elsewhere at the moment. Probably visiting the local ghosts again if he had to guess. And given how well he knew the tuxedo furred rodent, they would be back soon. They always came back.

“Hey Galy. What’s the matter? Do you miss Remy already? Lewis and Vivi? Mystery? Yeah, it’s kind of lonely around here without them, isn’t it?” Arthur asked with a sad smile, semi-clouded amber eyes gazing down at the ball of fluff perched on his shoulder. Galahad only chattered solemnly in response, nuzzling each finger as the blond raised up his right hand to pat the hamster’s head. 

“I know it’s getting late, but I want to keep at this for just a bit longer. It’s what Lewis would’ve wanted. His anchor is important to him, I need to fix it.” He continued, breathing out a shaky sigh while clutching the shards of the once whole locket to his chest, metallic digits being as gentle as they could possibly be.

Tears began to slowly blur his vision, a sharp pain coursing through out his body the more he tried to fight them back, Galahad instinctively racing off into the other room to fetch the paper star that had seen better days itself.

Like his owner, it was worn down and had lost most of its color. The protection spell on it had run out a long time ago, taking the cave spirit sealed inside with it. Now that Seb was free, there was no telling what he would do. If Arthur couldn’t find a way to reunite the gang, then all hope was lost.

Even the spirit bracelets were gone, nothing more than mere flickers of fading light around each of their wrists. None of them were solid enough to handle a stable connection anymore. They would need a miracle…

The campus grounds were quiet that night, as they should have been, and yet there was still one student left working there. Tamika Flynn, once a small and excited child known as Hybrid, was still in the science lab. Surrounded by beakers and bottles, sitting at a desk peering through a microscope with a frown on their face. One hand adjusts the magnifier, the other taps lightly on the tabletop.

It’s near silent in the room, only a faint bubbling sound in the background, and the lightest of paper shifting sounds. A slight crinkle, there’s a grumbling in the back of their head as they pull back, once pure honey they now hold just the slightest tinge of green.

“Nothing...” they mutter, swiping one hand over their eyes before groaning. “I was sure that I had it this time, the right combination...” but no, it was just another dead end. They remove the file from beneath the magnifier and glare at it. They had been so sure that this was the right combination, the right thing to start seeing how artificial babies are born. “Alright, guess it’s back to checking- Hey!”

They’re cut off by a small blurred shape, an animal of some kind dashing through the room, upsetting some of the equipment and throwing them off balance. There’s the sound of crashing and breaking glass and they growl. The green in their eyes becoming just faintly more pronounced for a moment, before they sigh, pinch the bridge of their nose and shake their head. There’s another dart of movement, just as they reset everything and this time they don’t bother trying again, instead following after the menace, screaming at it.

They chase it outside, and down the street, furious.

    if you play ANY sort of villainous character - from a pick-pocket to a full-scale serial killer - and i follow you, please know that i’ve come into this FULL WELL what i’m signing up for. i don’t expect you to soften your character for me, i’m not going to complain when they aren’t nice to my characters, and i honestly probably love watching them do what they do. not all characters are going to be the “good guys”, or the type of villain that can be redeemed. not everyone has a tragic backstory that makes them do the things they do - some people enjoy it, others just do it because they can, and for some it’s all they know. yes, there are villains with a soft spot or two - this doesn’t mean they need to change everything. our characters become friends/lovers even though my character is a “good guy”? you keep doin’ you. keep stealing those purses, killing those people, burning those villages to the ground. 

        tl;dr - I DIDN’T FOLLOW YOU BECAUSE I WANTED SOMETHING SOFT AND EASY - you keep bein’ a villain, babe, cause you’re  just as excellent as the heroes.

The old woman scanned the children with a strict look. “困っているのはあなたのどちらですか？”

Vivi gently nudged Hybrid forward. “これは一つです。 彼らの名前はHybridです。“ She then motioned Joey to come forward as well. “彼らの弟は、逃亡者を助けるためにいくつかの物資を持ってきました。 彼らはうまくいくのだろうか？“

“Hmm…” The grandmother thought for a second then nodded.

Riley immediately makes a mental note to actually get back to his Japanese language classes, because he only understood maybe one or two words of what was spoken. Hybrid had clearly been following it better than he had, even Joey looked like he had been following it somewhat well.

Fiona just looked blank, clearly not having understood as much. Riley offers his pack of supplies now, but he doesn’t say anything as he does, because well shit, he really needs to get back to those lessons.

This might be why their paperwork is taking so long, language expertise is probably a requirement for Paranormal Investigators because you probably have to go all around the world...

As it is though, Hybrid offers a faltering explanation. “こんにちは私は変種です、私の兄はいくつかの余分な物資を持ってきました” they pause, waiting for him to pull out the supplies that he’s brought along, he does so, not sure that they’ll be able to recognize it all though. “塩、石英、鉄の鎖？シルバー...パウダー...” they frown at him in confusion and he shrugs.

There’s also salt crystal, a couple of old paper charms, a dreamcatcher, and of course holy water. He also has a spirit gun, but that’s not something he’ll just pull out. He didn’t really want to bring that, but the crystals, aside the quartz he has a couple of lapis-lazuli stones, onyx, jade, and ruby. He’s just been careful. He also has some lavender but that’s more for relaxation reasons...

“I’m not taking any chances.” Alice reached for a hard hat and placed one on her head that fit her. The rest of the gang did the same. Even Mystery got himself a hat! Lewis cringed a little when he saw the torches. The last he held one was when he….well….. “Should we even light a fire inside the building?” Lewis asked Hooky.

Hooky also grabs one of the hats when they see the entire group is. They just don’t want to feel left out really. They don’t worry so much about the fit of it though, because pretty much all of them are going to be big, so it’s not something they can really bother to worry about.

“Uhm...” they pause. “I dunno. We technically glow so...” do they need the torches? Not really. “Also we’re below the building...” they scratch the back of their head, not entirely understanding.

“Hm, familiar you say? Do you want to come inside perhaps?” Lewis asked, bending down so he was at their eye level. It was a gesture the petal ghost seemed to default to whenever he spoke to those younger than himself, a twinge of sympathy beginning to take hold of what was left of his heart the more he looked the other person over. 

He could understand how they felt. Even if it wasn’t physically, he was lost mentally and emotionally a lot of the time. Trapped by the lies he had been once fed about his best friend being responsible for his death. It was something he wasn’t sure if either of them would ever fully recover from, which did nothing to quell the true root of his anger that was aimed at the cave spirit who was currently sealed away inside of the blond. 

The floral phantom tried not to dwell on the subject for too long however, the tiny dead beat who had been floating alongside of him expressing its concern through another series of worried chirps, its big yellow eyes glancing between its master and their newest guest.

There was a definite heavy feeling of sadness in the air, the wisp on the small ghost’s head drooping low with a silent coo almost too audible to hear, perking up slightly as its friends appeared beside it. Maybe they could comfort the two of them together? It was worth a try.   

“Am... Am I allowed to?” they don’t know why they’re so hesitant, that’s an invitation inside right there. At least, it sounds like an invitation, and they kind of do want to go inside, see what’s in there, and settle.

Maybe once they were inside some of the memories would drift back into place. That does happen sometimes, it’s also a reason that they usually don’t wander too far, the closer they are to their school the easier it is to recall things, because that place is familiar to them.

Familiar surroundings.

Familiar people and places that are moving on without them. They blink, brought out of their small bit of musings by the appearance of more of the small pink(magenta?) ghosts. Curiously tilting their head at them, sure they have seen followers before, but they are always curious about them.
