fun angle on matching contracts is like. you avoid one of you hitting UFA first. which would mean one of you choosing if you were staying or going first. which would mean somebody having to make a decision or even [gasp] having to ask a question. out loud. and god knows we can't have that. much better to be able to move side-by-side at the same pace, always keeping the other in peripheral vision, never having to look at anything head-on.

ok sharp left turn here BUT if you recall the halcyon days of tknp fic and would like to read something crunchy and creepy and GOOD by one of the true luminaries of that era and are not picky about what the fandom is: i implore you to check out this new fic by @amazonplanet / grace on ao3. I knew less than nothing about the characters in question when i had the honor to beta and i still stayed up until like 1:30 AM finishing it because i loved it that much. mind the tags, have a great time, leave an extensive laudatory comment.

Connor bedard, arm in a sling recovering from a surgery, milling aimlessly around his apartment, gets a knock at the door. He opens it and matvei michkov is there along with at least 7 other flyers. "With me now" matvei says befire he grabs connor by the waist and shoves him into the burlap sack travis sanheim is holding. Connor bedard wakes up in philadelphia wearing a 98 flyers jersey and he is given nut awear pizza for the first time and he takes a bite and cries. He hangs out in the super awesome injured reserve arcade that tyson foerster built when he was on the ir and when connors all better in November he gets to play on a line with owen tippett and porter martone and he scores goal after goal and he gets to the playoffs for the first time and then they make the Stanley cup where they terminate the Colorado avalanche and bedsy is smiling and grinning and his shoulders dont bother him anymore as he lifts the cup with his teammates and friends
