It's finished and submitted! The rooftop duel between Seto Kaiba and Yugi is now complete. Now we just have to wait for approval and hope the Lego Ideas team picks us as a finalist. Forgive the fact that the Kuriboh are insufficiently multiplied, I had a piece limit and didn't want to get TOO crazy with the attachment methods. Hope you all enjoy it! I had a great time building it.

This rooftop showdown between Yugi and Kaiba is my favorite duel in Duelist Kingdom! This high stakes face-off is Kaiba's only way of saving
We're live, folks! Fingers crossed we make it to the finals. The Lego Ideas team will pick 5 finalists that all users get to vote on, and the winner of the vote becomes a real set!
in the meantime I wanted to provide some close-ups of figures and behind the scenes info.
While I wasn't portraying this specific moment from the duel, I was using this screenshot from the anime to guide general proportions of the scene.
The first figure I made was Yugi, and I COMPLETELY forgot he doesn't use his school jacket as a cape in Duelist Kingdom like he does later in the series. I think the look where he does is better, but I had to make it more accurate! I'm not SUPER happy with the hair, but I had to work with existing molds and it's hard to apply digital decals to pieces that complex. That said, if Lego started this contest WITHOUT already having a plan for how to make Yugi's hair, then that was a very silly decision.
I wanted to make sure that we had an audience for this duel! The one I 100% knew I needed to be here was Joey/Jounochi, because featuring Yugi's #1 supporter is always necessary. That said, it was going to be way too empty with just him, and @rosalind-hawkins would never forgive me if I won and DIDN'T make an official Ryou Bakura figure happen when he's in the scene, so he and Tea/Anzu got added! There wasn't room for Tristan/Honda, I couldn't find a Lego hair piece that didn't look TERRIBLE, and I barely consider him a character TBH, so he got skipped.
I always love it when Lego adds plaques to their display sets, so I had to add one myself. I tracked down the actual font used on Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in the U.S. and used that for the title of the set!
From the very start, I knew I wanted to do Kuriboh as a little printed minifigure head. I saw people using shaggy looking hair pieces after I designed this, and I'm now even more confident in my choice. Yes, he is a fuzzball, but his big eyes and little green feet are ESSENTIAL for making him recognizable. Being just a ball of hair isn't enough.
As for the prizes, If we get SELECTED for the vote we win five lego sets: The lego minifigure vending machine, the Italian Riviera, the Tuxedo Cat, the Orange Cat, and the Love Birds. These are all past Lego Ideas winners and would be a really fun thing to get.
If we win the VOTE, it would literally be life-changing for us. The grand prize winner of the contest gets:
1% of the total net sales of the product across its lifetime (which would be a LOT)
10 complimentary copies of their LEGO Ideas set (I'm sure @rosalind-hawkins already has some recipients in mind)
Credit and a bio as the LEGO Ideas Fan Designer in the set materials (I won't say NO to bragging rights lol)
Thank you all for your support so far, and I hope we have your support for the vote if we make the cut!

I'm not nearly as familiar with Yu-Gi-Oh! as @rosalind-hawkins, but what I AM familiar with is Lego. Lego Ideas is doing a Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters CONTEST (specifically Duelist Kingdom and Battle City), so together, the two of us are making one of the coolest duels in the Duelist Kingdom arc. Featuring Kaiba getting ready to do something drastic and a brick-built Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, we would LOVE to get this set on your shelves! Keep an eye out for the finished project (probably tomorrow, all I've got left is print mockups) and if you like what I've done here support our submission when the contest goes live!
Scanning the establishment and not seeing any other customers, she pulled a duster from beneath the counter and headed to the windows to tidy up their displays. As she delicately brushed the dust off of the large tome on the history of the Roman Empire, she looked outside at the street. As usual, it was a ghost town, aside from the fauna. Ravens perched on street lamps and fences, and stray cats wandered in and out of alleys and alcoves. Whenever she left after sundown, she would often see at least one owl having taken up the ravens’ posts when they retired for the evening. While she did love seeing the animals, she always wondered why she seldom saw another person other than their customers.
Clara thought the most illegal thing she would ever do was have a drink in a speakeasy with her best friend. She never thought her very existence would make her a criminal.
The book shop where she worked was full of secrets, hiding just beneath the surface. When the secrets became too intense to contain, Clara discovered a hidden world of magic. The most terrifying secret of all? She belonged to this world.
She was a dormant: an undetected, untrained magic-wielder, considered dangerous to everyone around her. The Arcane Dominion hunted her kind down and made them disappear. But unlike her fellow dormants, she was not alone.
Asher Thorne, the powerful Arcanist who owned the book shop, was willing to risk everything to train her in defiance of the forces that ruled over him. Keeping her hidden was enough to have him imprisoned. Loving her enough to train her to fight back against the magical overlords? That treason might cost him his life.
But some powers can’t be kept a secret. And some bonds are worth dying for.
This story follows Clara Wells, a young woman living in 1920s America who discovers magic. Unfortunately for her, the magic she finds within her is forbidden, undetected, and volatile.
This story is a historical romantasy full of slow burning emotional tension, high stakes, and ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Real history is blended with a hidden magical world operating at the edges of society.
Follow for excerpts and updates on a magical world that is both familiar and brand new.
What would you do if you learned that you had magical abilities, only to discover that your safety relied on remaining in the shadows? How would you react if the powers that ruled over the arcane decided those like you were to dangerous to exist?
This is the struggle that Clara Wells was confronted with when she discovered that the bookshop where she worked was anything but ordinary, and the only thing that stood between her and a terrible fate was the defiance of her boss.
I’m currently writing a historical romance fantasy novel set in 1920s America, where magic exists quietly beneath the surface of the mundane. If you miss when you could enjoy familiar magical worlds without the baggage they now carry, I would highly recommend giving it a read! The first 12 chapters are drafted, and even more are on the way. Chapters will be posted every two weeks.
Fantasy Romance Stories
I will be posting small excerpts here on tumblr, but FULL draft chapters, alongside behind-the-scenes info, bonus one-shots, and more will be found on Patreon. The first three chapters are available to read for free now, with more ready to post over the coming months. When the book is ready to publish, the draft chapters will be removed and draft chapters for the next book will be posted.
If you enjoy:
stories where magic has consequences
slow burn romance
historical settings and nostalgic fantasy worlds
ordinary people do extraordinary things

man older generations just dont get how hard it is to get a job these days
youre trying to find entry levels jobs but they all require at least four years of knighthood or a lordship, the listings are only ever things like "stable cleaner, $7/hr" or "king of the realm, $120k annual, REQUIRED: sword from the lady of the lake"
ok you found a posting youre qualified for. now list list all of your conquests and all your chivalric values on your resume and then add your resume as a pdf and now also rewrite them in the boxes that auto populated and fix the formatting
and you cant tell older generations all of that because theyll just tell you about how they got their job by walking into a royal court and swearing fealty to the first king they saw and being granted a knighthood on the spot. literally if you try to do that these days the archers on the castle turrets will get you before the rattling of your armor is even within earshot
more Dungeon Meshi in Wind Waker style! (first part)
I like the idea that Link could stumble on Laios's party in dungeons, maybe after the miniboss, and they offer you a meal that replenishes your health, sort of like Yeto from TP! You could take some with you in a bottle like grandma's soup. There could be a funny interaction if you show Marcille a joy pendant, and she thinks it's really pretty until Laios and Senshi tell her it's actually a treasure bug.
Botw love letter I did back in February. I tried my hand at using the landscape, light and shadows for storytelling purposes and mood. I’ve improved a lot since then but I think this piece was ahead of its time in terms of my growth
