The Street Where No One Walks
Scanning the establishment and not seeing any other customers, she pulled a duster from beneath the counter and headed to the windows to tidy up their displays. As she delicately brushed the dust off of the large tome on the history of the Roman Empire, she looked outside at the street. As usual, it was a ghost town, aside from the fauna. Ravens perched on street lamps and fences, and stray cats wandered in and out of alleys and alcoves. Whenever she left after sundown, she would often see at least one owl having taken up the ravens’ posts when they retired for the evening. While she did love seeing the animals, she always wondered why she seldom saw another person other than their customers.
