hyperlaser / phighting
quite obvious plus i stated this before. my pal jakeheartsmen (also previously mentioned) introduced me to phighting last summer and since then i've accumulated like 480 hours in the game, not counting the hours i've spent consuming and creating media for the fandom

before i say anything on her please let me explain HOW i found her, because by god is it an interesting story:
christmas eve 2024, 3am. i was bored, but on tiktok i heard of this "tf2 short film" called emesis blue (i already knew about tf2 since i was like 4, my dad was a sweat) so since i was like "well my insomnia's not getting any better so why not give this a watch while i'm awake" so i watch it. im OBSESSED. it's so good to where i actually get into the tf2 fandom from emesis blue. so obviously i read the comics, watch more sfms and i get into the actual lore. but with fandom comes fanfiction, so here i am hopping on ao3 in complete boredom. i'm not like a huge fan of any tf2 ships, but i didn't mind them if they came along with an interesting plot. so i come across this one sniperspy fic titled "solitude but two" and the plot seems pretty great, i enjoy reading it a lot.
for brevity, i'll summarize the relevant part of the fic: spy pretends to be a singer for this one restaurant, and out of the few songs mentioned by name in this fic, there's one that is very plot-relevant: chapter 26, he sings the song "la solitude" by barbara. also sniper was there and heard the performance and really liked the song so he bought a cassette.
anyways, since i'm practically in love with this fic i think "hey why not listen to this very plot-relevant song? what's the worst that could happen?" the worst that could happen did happen. from this point on it was one of three songs i listened to on repeat throughout the school day, until eventually i branched out a bit and listened to a few more of her popular songs (ie: ma plus belle histoire d'amour, à mourir pour mourir, pretty much just the relevant stuffs) and so it turned into only 5 songs i'd listen to on repeat, and i cut out the songs that weren't by barbara.
also sometime during this i got really into rammstein for a bit, but i circled back around to barbara pretty quickly. i still listen to them tho they're very good
so then i decided to listen to her "hit fifty songs" playlist and i fell in love with like a lot of her songs, and from there on i became utterly obsessed. the thing is, she actually only performed in america twice (then called off ever singing in an anglophonic country ever again after those two, but we don't talk about that) so there's not really a lot of english content about her, which unfortunately means i'd have to make the terrible dredge of learning french to fully translate all the material about her.
so that's pretty much the story. as of now i've got one book and one (first press hehehe) vinyl. i would have more but i'm poor and a lot of this stuff is severely overpriced plus the shipping costs since none of it is in america.

enough about how i found her, more about her in general. she's actually really progressive for her prime-time (1960's-1980's) as she was very vocal and persistent in the fight against AIDS where she would visit women's prisons to help educate them on aids, plus her handing out condoms at her concerts.
she also is completely fine (even encouraging) of homosexuality, mostly seen through her performance in the gay musical (or play, i don't remember rn) "je suis né à venice" where pretty much the plot of it is that 2 men fall in love. can also be seen in her admiration of the 2 evilly gay poets rimbaud and verlaine.
she was an advocate for rebuilding france's relationship with germany post-ww2 which says a lot considering that she herself is jewish and had gone into hiding during the war, and we see this in her song "göttingen" which she wrote in göttingen when she performed there on her german tour and she just liked it there so much that she wrote a whole song about how that while it's not paris, it's still beautiful there and that the children are no different from paris to göttingen.
also my fav songs are "j'entends sonner les clairons," "ce matin-là" but specifically from the live à l'olympia 1969 bonus inédit, and lastly "une petite cantate." especially une petite cantate we won't be talking about my hours of listening time to this one specific song

pretty typical interest i'd say. there's my hyperlaser monument i'm working on. also yes those are diamond blocks i had to mine for, that's why it's unfinished. ITS SO EXPENSIVE. also ignore my tower of intimidation on the right
i also play hypixel sometimes for skyblock or that one vampire game that nobody plays anymore (it was so peak....) and no i dont play bedwars or skywars, minecraft pvp scares me....
