Fun LittleBigPlanet discovery I made
In the text data of LittleBigPlanet 2 and 3 are remnants of two scrapped tracks, LittleBigPlanet 2 has text data for a song called 'Andecy' by Andrew York, while LittleBigPlanet 3 has remnants of a cut song called 'Pruit Igoe (From Koyaanisqatsi)' by Philip Glass, prior to me discovering these in June 2026, I cannot find any evidence of anyone finding these two in the string data and documenting it, leading me to believe I'm the first one to find these.
Andecy is a calm song played only on an acoustic guitar, it shares similarities to Questa Notte by Ludovico Einaudi, another song planned for LittleBigPlanet 2, both of them are played on acoustic guitars (at least, the version of Questa Notte used in LittleBigPlanet 2 Pre-Alpha all the way to the Beta). Andecy's feel likely implies it was planned for either Da Vinci's Hideout or Eve's Asylum, as Questa Notte played in both of those chapters in prototypes.
Almost every prototype song in LittleBigPlanet 2 we have recovered used the same text data shown below, with the sole exceptions of War of the Worlds by John Williams, Enigma Variations Op. 36 - Nimrod by Edward Elgar, and Adagio of Strings by Samuel Barber, all of these track names and artists are left in the final game's data with the sole exception of the track name of War of the Worlds.
Above is a showcase of songs recovered and restored from the LittleBigPlanet 2 Pre-Alpha builds, you can see with the first example, the track name is "Temp Music" and where the artist credit would be, text says "This track is not licensed - for internal use only!" All but 3 songs in the Pre-Alpha use this, with the only exceptions shown as well, notably, War of the Worlds lost the title, but not its artist name.
Andecy's text string data cannot be found in the Pre-Alpha data, implying it was planned somewhere in the beta phase. To make sure they did not have any confusion on what was licensed and what wasn't, Media Molecule used this "temp music" label on songs not licensed, while ones that were gained their 'Track name' by Artist strings, the fact Andecy has string data implies they did license it, but either couldn't find a good way to include it or lost the license to it prior to release.
In the case of Pruit Igoe, I gave that song a listen and honestly really loved it, if you haven't heard it before, it has a very classical and orchestral feel to it, the fact this song's data can only be found in the final 1.00+ of LittleBigPlanet 3 implies this song was going to play in that game's final boss, Even Bosses Wear Hats Sometimes..., but instead we got 'Hero Theme' by Paul Thomson playing there instead, the honestly incredibly inferior option.
Pruit Igoe having track and artist data does not inherently imply they licensed it, as every prototype we have of LittleBigPlanet 3 has tracks that didn't make into the final that include their real icon, track title, and artist. So Pruit Igoe was likely planned very late in development but cut, leaving only its string data behind.
Here is the evidence both of these songs exist in the game's text data, if you want to check for yourself, grab your LittleBigPlanet 2 or 3 data, load data.farc and blurayguids.map into Craftworld Toolkit, find and extract english.trans (or american.trans) as a JSON file, and locate these strings by either typing in their IDs or searching by name, you will find these.
