Hello, my friend! Some queerplatonic headcanons for the Links and the Reader, huh? I’ll narrow it down to just one of them so it’s easier to write and won’t be as long! And with the phrasing of your ask, I’ll make this be for a LoZ Link.
Ever since Midna left and basically broke his heart, he couldn’t ever get himself to form romantic feelings for anyone.
This was also supported by the brief scare of Ilia losing her memory due to the trauma of King Bulblin attacking her, and everyone else in Ordon. Sure, she recovered her memory and her and Link had been close for ages… But Link wasn’t sure if she actually remembers everything, so he decided it was for the best to not pursue her.
If he and Zelda met under better circumstances and had more chances to spend time together, maybe they would’ve had romantic feelings bud. He thought it was better to not pursue her due to her being on her way of becoming the queen of Hyrule.
Despite him no longer wanting romance, it didn’t stop him being platonically affectionate with others.
He had meet Y/N in Hyrule Castle Town at one point. Well… more like they quite literally ran into each other.
He had been lugging a big bag filled with chunks of Ordon Goat Cheese, on his way to deliver it Telma’s Bar.
Y/N had quite literally crashed into him. Due to him having a bulkier build, Y/N was one who fell butt-first onto the hard pavement.
In process of Y/N catching themself to make sure they didn’t crack their head on the pavement, they lightly scraped their hands and elbows.
His caretaker nature overcame him, so he rummaged in one of his belt pouches. He’d always carried bandages and ointments with him. Whether it’d be for him, someone else, or an animal.
He immediately kneeled down next to Y/N, already cleaning and sterilizing their wounds. Then he bandaged them up.
Y/N thanked him and tried to apologize for crashing into him, but he waved it off. He said he should’ve paid more attention to his surroundings.
He pulled them back up onto their feet and went on his way.
This wasn’t the last time they encountered each other.
He encountered them looking depressed while sitting on edge of the large fountain in Hyrule Castle Town.
He asked what was wrong and that immediately opened the floodgates of tears that had been held back.
He was immediately alarmed and pulled them into a side hug.
After a while, Y/N told him what happened. They had been dumped by someone who they had been pursuing.
He felt his heart twinge in sympathy and empathy. Not another hurt by romance…
From that point on, Y/N decided to no longer try to pursue anyone romantically like Link had.
Y/N and Link become best of friends, loosely bonding over them both being hurt by romance.
They came to each other for comfort. It usually consisted of gentle touches and hugs.
There was also playful teasing and hair ruffling between them.
They liked to spend together. Whether it was hanging out somewhere or playing with the cats and dogs in Hyrule Castle; it was what they did.
They’d sometimes play fight; Link would always win because he was absurdly strong.
Since he had become friends with someone and it never became romantic, he wondered if this was the case for some of the other heroes of legend…
