does this count as anything ???is this art
they won't tell you this in therapy but sometimes the best way to stop catastrophizing/anxiety is to interrupt your spiraling with "girl what the hell are you talking about"
We are committed to ensuring all of our meat is ethically sourced. Every steak you eat at this restaurant came from a cow who perished in an honorable duel to the death with one of our chefs.
This is our promise to you.
saw an absolutely hilarious animal crossing theory that i now 100% accept and it’s that in the animal crossing world, humans are going extinct, and so all the animals have locked you in an elaborate zoo enclosure and are trying to give you enrichment. and that’s why they give you infinite pointless tasks, hide money in trees and rocks, invented debt that doesnt matter etc. it’s why they always act so happy to see you even after you raze the entire island, relocate their houses twice, and always act so pleased about your choices no matter what. it’s all to keep their little endangered human healthy and enriched. and thinking of it this way has genuinely improved my experience of the game
Like i am just sitting here picturing them all getting together for a meeting like
“Shit. Humans are going extinct. What sorts of things do humans do”
“Uh.. build societies?”
“Fuck you’re so right Coco. Tom Nook, go reinvent capitalism stat”
The fact that Australopithecus skulls are found when digging up fossils shows that humans are native species to the island and have a long history of being so. Tom nook flying you out to the island is more akin to releasing an animal back into the wild, so the island is more of a protected conservation area if anything.
genuinely no video on the internet mystifies me like this one
still being into fe3h in 2024 feels like this
Gather around, my young friends and fellow dinosaurs, let me tell you about some BULLSHIT no one ever tells you about. I'm talking about menopause and perimenopause. Now, menopause has a very stringent medical definition. You have to not have had a period for exactly 12 months and a day to be considered in menopause. All the bullshit before that day once you start going through The Change is considered perimenopause. Here's some bullshit you might experience that people actually talk about when you're in perimenopause:
- shorter time between periods
- irregular periods
- hot flashes and/or cold flashes
- fucked up sleep
- OMG NIGHT SWEATS
- Vagina as dry as the Sahara desert
- lighter periods and/or endless bleeding like it's The Flood but it's in your pants
- lack of interest in Adult Fun Times
This time of joy can last anywhere from a couple of years to a god damn decade and there's no medical way right now to predict it.
Here's some of the REAL bullshit they don't tell you about but your dinosaur aunt is here to let you know:
- You can start perimenopause in your 30s, don't listen to idiot doctors who tell you you're "too young" because they don't know your body like you do.
- Perimenopause will make you HELLA DUMB. Seriously, I'm talking Bigly broken brain. Brain fog? Check. Short term memory? Wave goodbye to it. Ability to make words form out of thoughts? Yeah, good luck to you.
- Perimenopause can cause horrible fatigue because in addition to losing estrogen, you're also losing testosterone. Oh and that also leads to muscle wasting, cool cool.
- Things might suddenly hurt more because estrogen is known to be neuroprotective.
- If you're super lucky like I am, and like to collect rare illnesses, you might even get Burning Mouth Syndrome 💀
- And meanwhile, while you're going through this bullshit, you'll be getting gaslit by doctors who are operating based on 30 year old debunked data about how HRT causes breast cancer (not really) and that they shouldn't put you on it until you're in actual menopause. (Data shows starting HRT early can potentially prevent Alzheimer's in later years.)
- There are entire online clinics right now (I use Midi Health) focused on providing care for peri and menopausal patients and they will happily prescribe you HRT even if your regular PCP or OBGYN do not (if you meet the criteria). I've been pretty impressed with how holistically they view the patient. For full disclosure, I learned about them from my integrative health doctor and they do not accept Medicare (yet).
I'm 46 years old right now and I've been symptomatic for perimenopause for the last 8 years, although it's gotten the most dramatic in the past 2 years or so, which I hope means I'm almost done, holy hell. Yeah I was on the early side, but if it can happen to me, it can happen to you, so it's never too early to think about these things. And I hope to at least spare some of you the mind-fuckery I've been through because no one told me about most of this stuff, including my own mother who just DOESN'T REMEMBER what happened to her and now I completely understand why. And because I also have a connective tissue disease, I used to just dismiss my pain and fatigue as being caused by that illness rather than the loss of hormones.
Anyways, this is why we need Elders in our lives, so they can do Grandma Story Hour like I just did and validate you when the entire medical field tries to gaslight you. I hope you've found some or all of this educational/useful. Please share with your friends because we really do NOT talk about this stuff enough. (Ewwww Moon Blood!)
Stay well, and don't let the bastards grind you down!
Additional information from your 56 y.o Goth Auntie who is in menopause (Probably. My past endometrial ablation procedure makes it hard to be sure.)
All of those super-fun things that perimenopause may bring you? THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THEY WILL VANISH WHEN YOU HIT MENOPAUSE. None. You may experience them for the rest of your life.
Your body will change in weird ways, including putting weight on in ways you didn't used to. (I would be fine with my current weight if it was distributed in the way I used to gain weight, but nooooo.)
You will almost certainly get increased facial hair.
But you may also experience the hair on your head thinning.
Let me repeat: FUCKED UP SLEEP. ::sobs::
You WILL run into doctors who whole-heartedly believe that HRT increases the risk of breast cancer. If you have a mammogram (and then biopsy) that shows "atypical cells", it will be Strongly Suggested that you stop any hormonal therapy you may have been doing. If that happens, expect every single awful peri/menopausal symptom you've been experiencing to come back. (Related to this, if anyone has links to solid research that disproves this so I can throw it at my GP and oncologist, that would be awesome.)
Anyone who tries to tell you that perimenopause and menopause "are like going through puberty backwards" is uninformed. Puberty, while hell, was nothing compared to my experiences with perimenopause and maybe-who-knows menopause.
ALL OF THIS. LISTEN TO THEM.
Also! Slamming into menopause full-force after a hysterectomy and oophorectomy is in fact something that can happen even if you're on testosterone HRT. It took me far longer than it should have to learn the psychological and physical symptoms I was experiencing weren't just a final decline before inevitable self-termination.
Though if you are slamming into menopause postop and you’re on testosterone HRT: CHECK YOUR LEVELS and if you’re low and your doc’s like “oh you should cut your dose now you don’t have ovaries” maybe strongly consider trying to find a doc who won’t underdose you. At reasonable standard male levels you *should* be getting some of your testosterone aromatizing to estrogen. Previous practice in the US was often to cut the T dose after the ovaries came out, but it turns out that some people don’t need to change, some people need less, and some need more.
Also regardless why your estrogen is low: if you’re getting pelvic pain, dryness, or frequent UTIs: consider asking your doc for a prescription for vaginal estrogen. It’s a very low dose that shouldn’t really raise systemic levels and it is the most effective thing we’ve got for keeping those tissues from atrophy. Whether or not you have receptive sex there, atrophy can be really uncomfortable and is treatable. My PCP says it’s little enough absorbed that it’s even acceptable for people with estrogen-responsive breast cancer.
ARCANE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS: SEASON 2 ACT 3 (2024)
you were a full time job I thought I'd never miss
So the gift Powder received from Ekko was a necklace with a blue peony.
And you know me from my Vi and Caitlyn post so of course I'll look up what the flower language of that means and it's the following:
And if you look closely, you can see the profile faces of Ekko and Powder in between the petals
In this reality, the two can't be together, as he wasn't HER Ekko. But Powder still means the world to him.
I’m sorry but I will truly never get over Ekko who lost his mentor and all his friends at a young age, then spent the rest of his childhood building a beautiful and strong community that helped get shimmer addicts off the streets and give them a new life that thrived off of trust, respect, and loyalty while slowly watching the girl he loves lose herself to her psyche and become an unhinged suicidal terrorist who he is unable to save despite repeated attempts at it. And THEN gets booted into an alternate reality where he learns he could have had EVERYTHING, the beautiful and thriving community, the education, his family, and the girl he loves and he heartbreakingly leaves it all behind because he knows he doesn’t belong there and he has to go back to save his people which he DOES multiple times at great risk despite knowing what overextending his z-drive could do only to end up completely alone in the end. The most selfless character in the entire series. That’s my boy savior.
"Are you still in this fight, Violet?" "I am the dirt under your nails, Cupcake. Nothing's gonna clean me out."
Miyako & Cherub from Forbidden Siren (PS2, 2003) | Fiona & Hewie from Haunting Ground (PS2, 2005) | Jennifer & Brown from Rule of Rose (PS2, 2006)
The way Mel doesn't even flinch when Ambessa slaps her, doesn't even react. Just keeps trying to negotiate, keeps trying to get her to see reason right up until that final fight. Your mother is the only person in the world left who truly knows and loves you and yet she does not respect you.
Thinking about Cait smacking Ambessa right as she was about to give another condescending smirk and line to Mel, snapping at her to shut up and fight even with a dagger in her gut. And she would have died seconds later if it wasn't for Mel.
No one can understand what it's like being raised by Ambessa. Not anymore now that Kino is dead. The level of abuse, manipulation and genuine love all tied together is something only Mel carries with her. Cait certainly can't understand it, but she was trained for a few months at Ambessa's side, each other's shadow of a replacement for their respective mother daughter losses. And sometimes that's enough.
Sometimes the spark you need to finally heal your inner child and stand up to your mother is your feral twenty two year old baby sister in law essentially choosing to die fighting rather than bow to your mother's will. Just that one little push past the point of no return, and suddenly your mother is dead and you have killed her and she is finally, finally proud of you.
