good things to pay attention to more often
the color of trees
clouds and how they look different throughout the day
the different colors the mornings can have. sometimes it's an orange hue and sometimes pink and sometimes it's too misty to tell
pretty color schemes in random places (the trees and your neighbors wooden patio and the color of their car)
the states of the vehicles passing you by, dents and scratches and the different trinkets suspended from their rearview mirrors
the sound of silence
the shadows the lights cast in your home, like how sunset looks different than sunrise, and the shadows the sun casts look different than those of your lamps and candles
pretty details in buildings and houses like certain types of windows or doorknobs or archways
the movement of things in the wind. flags, leaves, flowers, people's hair and coats

"Elon Musk age regresses on twitter with an alt account" is a hell of a revelation I did not need to learn today
@fluffywuffle again if I had to see this today, so do y'all
He's pretending to be his own fucking son
GOD YEAH IT'S SO FUCKING STUPID
It gets even better/worse, he's openly racist on that account as well. And replies to himself with it.
Fun fact: that's the same goal!
why dont you enjoy the silence and then youll calm down

Maybe it's a good time for a PSA that mold and fungi, provided they aren't growing inside your house, are a normal and beneficial part of the ecosystem, and most of them will not harm you
A worrying number of people seem to believe that fungi are all toxic or dangerous and/or are very afraid of them.
Yes, having black mold growing in your walls will make you very sick, yes, some molds produce mycotoxins that make prolonged indoor exposure harmful, no, you should NOT eat moldy food, and yes, fungi can cause allergies, but molds and fungi are not pathogens or disease-causing in themselves.
Mold and fungal spores are *everywhere* outside and the organisms themselves are essential to breaking down material like dead leaves and turning it into nutrients for plants. Rich soil from a forest floor is like...a significant percentage made of LIVING fungus.
According to the ecologist where I work, there are no mushrooms that can harm you just from skin contact. You can touch them, it's fine.
I have mushrooms growing on my lawn because of the rain! I used to kick them over because UNFAMILIAR! But now I let them do their thing!
Kicking them over doesn't hurt them. The above ground part is just how they reproduce. Mushrooms can handle being kicked in the dick every now and then.
I was just reading an ADHD post about breaking tasks up into smaller chunks, and I wanted to share something that helped me.
Once upon a time, I was sitting at my desk at 3am, having procrastinated all day, and finally got to the stage where I was so desperate to meet my 9am deadline I made an itemised list of every single thing I had to do, to the level of "1) Open this document. 2) Open this web page. 3) Arrange the windows so you can see both at once... Etc." It took me hours, and I was beating myself up the whole time because I knew I was spending three times as long making the list as I would doing the task, good god, what's wrong with me, this is so stupid...
I finished the list. I went through it step by step. And then I was done.
It was a revelation. It was so incredibly easy, once the list was there.
Since then I've thought: so what if making the list takes three times as long as doing the task? That's what it takes. That's PART OF THE TASK. It's the most important part, because it's the bit that means you can start at all.
Now if I'm struggling I give myself permission to use the most time consuming strategies, to hold my own hand like I'm a two year old, to guide myself through the tiniest of baby steps, because that's a skill I've fought for and it works.
Maybe this is obvious to everyone else. But if there's anyone out there like me, perhaps not yet diagnosed, beating themself up for not being able to just get things done like a normal person, I want to say this: make that list even as the clock ticks down to your deadline. It's not a waste of time. It's part of the task.
i love constantly evolving into a cooler version of myself
btw by cooler i donât mean like. trendier or more conventionally attractive but a version of myself that feels more like an honest representation of myself and all the layers of myself that are shifting as i grow and learn more about myself and the world âŠ. (which makes me hotter.)
fantastic mr fox says something about fatherhood thatâs batshit insane and I donât think the movie actually knows itâs saying it. it just takes you by the shoulders and makes you look square in its eyes and goes âsome men should never have been fathers. they are. and they love their children deeply. and they try so very hard. but that doesnât mean they should have been fathers.â and then just gets up and leaves you with that like youâre meant to be okay afterward
