Yâall know how praying at an altar in Skyrim will cure you of disease? I know itâs just a game mechanic, but it always felt kinda weird whenever my Malacath-worshipping-Orc got rockjoint. I was bored, and I tried to think of an in-lore reason for why it would still work (provided that the mechanic was explicitly not just that)
But then I started thinking;
Imagine if it DIDNâT always work?
Orsimer and: What we know about weddings
Ok, so we donât really get a lot of stuff to go on; wedding takes place at midnight, daughters of strongholds get married off and the fam gets a dowry, oNlY cHiEfTaN mArRiEs, polygamy etc etc. But the thing is, most of what I came across (most likely) only applied to strongholds.
However, there was one book that caught my eye. I donât remember the name (and google is not being helpful) but it was about this Lady orc who is about to get married but the bandits she used to roll with made off with the dowry for her husband-to-be. Long story short, we get a lot of details for marriage between two âOutlanderâ Orcs
- Women have bridesmaids,
- the bride wears a gown (color could vary; the heroine chose red),
- she gets âsewn into itâ (I donât know if this is a detail worth noting or if itâs a dress thing I donât know much about wedding dresses h e l p),
- Dowries are presented (I am unsure if it always goes to the groom, or if it goes to the one who proposed first, or some other thing)
- There is a ceremony/ritual
- The actual thing takes place at midnight a la Malacath style
Anyways, those are all the things I can remember off the top of my head. Please reblog with other bits of info that you know as well as details I might have missed! And please, if you know the book Iâm talking about comment it if you can!
