Today marks the one-year anniversary of the second—and last—time I saw John Cameron Mitchell as Hedwig at the Belasco, and met him for, like, a millisecond. But it was also what officially started by move into the fandom and onto Tumblr, and introduced me to a really great group of people, whom I’ve spent plenty of time laughing, repeatedly crying, and sharing my intense love for Hedwig with: the Angstheds.
If not for Hedwig, I wouldn’t have found amazing human beings like @mmelchi, @tairemedown, @meowdejavu, @theinvisible-girl, @aclockworkyawn, @fdelopera, @imthenewberlinwallbaby, @justifiably-supernatural, @acebiro @streetcar-nameddestiny, @i-open-at-the-close36, @spinning-like-a-45-ballerina, @hedwigisforever, @nybroadwaybaby, @wineandzebracakes, @thatgirlwiththeglitteryblazer @ablurredrainbowconnection, @leauxgan, @streetcarnameddestiny, @post-show-depression, @staystiel, @glamrock-lizardman @jcm-broke-my-heart, and @catatonicallyeuphonic, who was the very one of you hardcore Hedheads that I met while waiting to get in to the theater. If I forgot you, I’m super sorry, I most likely forgot your blog name (Like Laura and Lia, to name a couple lol) ; I’m surprised I remembered this much. But there’s a whole bunch of you who this community introduced me to, and still more I both know of and don’t, who I really want to get to know better. We haven’t been communicating or doing stuff on here together as much, but I miss you guys and I can’t wait until Hedwig returns to the stage and we can all get back in the eternally-inspirational, relatable, emotional-rollercoaster-of-brilliance that is Hedwig and the Angry Inch. You’re all doing really great other things in your lives away from the fandom, too, which is great, and I’m proud of all of you, but we gotta hold on to each other.
