But seriously guys how did I not realize that Spies are Forever was clearly based (or at least heavyly inspired) on one of my dad's favorite movies 1973 "Goncharov"? Once I rewatched it for the first time in over 10 years it was pretty obvious. It's such a lovely tribute and parody. The homoeroticism? The songs?

The Deadliest Man Alive is a clear parallel to Ice-Pick Joe. And the reveal at the end that he's Curt's lost love turned enemy is such an obvious commentary on Goncharov's betrayal and death. Also Curt's whole repression and staying in the closet storyline is a commentary on Goncharov's and Andrey's story and inevitable ending. Uhg I'm going insane!! This is so crazy, I want to bite cables. Seriously go and rewatch both of them and tell me I'm wrong.
