Are you still alive? Hope you’re well <3

Has it really been that long? I’m fine, thanks for checking on me! I’ve just had a ton going on (school, work, moving to another country, etc.) and haven’t had as much time to spend online; hopefully I’ll get back on here more in the next few months, though!

An exhausted whumpee having to staying behind to handle intel and communications when their team goes on a brief mission. Things going wrong for the rest of their team in the field, so by the time everyone expected to be home and that the whumpee would be able to rest, they're not even close to having finished the mission. The already exhausted whumpee having to stay up for long hours after the mission was supposed to have ended, because if they were to actually stop and go to bed, likely none of their team would make it back alive.

The whumpee oversleeping one morning, and their friends (who they live with) being concerned, because it's very unusual for the whumpee to still be asleep that late. One of them eventually going to wake the whumpee up, only to find them feverish and out of it. The friend immediately calling for the others to bring a thermometer, waking the whumpee up in the process, who immediately begins to sleepily argue with them. Their friends ignoring them and taking their temperature anyway, wondering how it got so high so fast. The whumpee dismissing it as just a rough cold until one of their friends accidentally bumps them, causing them to yelp when it jostles the painful, infected wound the whumpee had been hiding.

A whumpee being halfway through recovery, and doing well enough to come across as healthy to someone who didn’t know that they were injured, deciding to do something strenuous with their teammates without telling them they were recovering from something. The whumpee eventually pushing too far during this, and their teammates having to look after them, and eventually getting the whumpee to explain that they were still recovering from something. The rest of the team immediately forcing the whumpee to take the proper time to recover, and swearing to themselves to keep an eye on the whumpee in future so nothing like this ever happens again.

When the whumpee is sick, and the caretaker only kind of knows how to look after someone sick. The caretaker having to call friends or family to ask for advice, and stumbling their way through making the whumpee soup. The whumpee figuring out early on that the caretaker doesn’t really know what they’re doing, but relying on them anyway, both because they don't really have other good options, and because they trust the caretaker to figure it out and make sure that they’ll be ok.

“When was the last time you slept? You look worse than after finals week junior year!”

“I need you to take a deep breath, ______. I know you feel like you can’t, but I promise, you can.” “A bad day?! Maybe try calling it a bad week, or even a bad month. You’ve been dealing with some horrible stuff lately, _______, don't downplay it by saying you’ve just had a bad day.”

“Can you just sit down for a second, please? You’re starting to look a little pale, and we don’t need anyone else passing out.” “If you keep downplaying your injuries like that, I’m going to just start ignoring it every time you claim to be okay.” “Either you stay in bed, or I’ll have to take drastic measures.” “What does that mean?” “I’ll get our youngest teammate to take a nap on you.”

When the whumpee wakes up from a nightmare screaming, and the caretaker rushes in, thinking that the whumpee is in danger, only to find them sobbing into their pillow, still shaking from the dream. The caretaker realizing what's going on, and holding them until they calm down, then wrapping them in a blanket and bringing them to the kitchen. Them making the whumpee hot chocolate or some other hot drink, and sitting with them until they finish it, and then settling down on the couch with them. The caretaker turning on the tv, and the two of them sitting there together until the whumpee drifts off to sleep again with their head in the caretaker’s lap.

When the whumpee is completely miserable while recovering, and one day their teammates decide to put them in a blanket burrito and bring them out to spend time on the couch with the rest of their team. The whumpee not really wanting to, but begrudgingly letting their teammates wrap them up and carry them out to the couch anyway. Them not being very interested in anything their teammates try to get them to engage with at first, but slowly cheering up and starting to enjoy themself. Their teammates keeping them entertained until they doze off against someone’s shoulder, still in their blanket burrito, and happier than they’d been in days.

When the whumpee joins the rest of their team for an outing, but when they show up a few minutes late looking like they’re about to pass out, their teammates calling the days activities off so they can take the whumpee home. The whumpee protesting that they’ll be fine, and that their teammates shouldn't inconvenience themselves, and their teammates kindly telling them to shut up and cooperate. The whumpee still feeling a bit bad about their teammates canceling everything, but letting them take them home and fuss over them anyway. Later that day, the whumpee and their team sitting together in the whumpee’s home, the whumpee under a pile of blankets on the couch, and them all watching a movie as the whumpee dozes off to the feeling of a teammate playing with their hair, feeling safe and cared for.

When the whumpee wants to resume working, but the caretaker won’t let them until they recover more. The whumpee asking the caretaker to let them rest somewhere other than their bed, and as soon as the caretaker leaves them there for a few minutes, the whumpee getting up and trying to do some things they’d brought home with them from work. The caretaker catching them almost immediately, and forcing the whumpee to go back to bed, then asking why they were so determined to start working again. The whumpee admitting that they’re bored and restless, and the caretaker trying to find them other things they can do without exerting themself, so they won't be so bored while they recover.

When the caretaker, who lives with the whumpee, comes home after a long day, but the whumpee doesn't greet them when they come in (even though they usually do). The caretaker calling for them, and searching the house, and not finding them, until they hear sobbing coming from one of the closets. The caretaker going and looking in the closet, and finding the whumpee curled up, crying and shaking. Them gently getting the whumpee’s attention, and then holding their arms out to them in an invitation for a hug. The whumpee glancing up at them with tear filled eyes, and then curling up in the caretaker’s arms. The caretaker still having no idea what's going on, but just cradling the whumpee close and stroking their back, knowing that they can ask later, and that right now, the important thing is making sure the whumpee gets comfort.

When the whumpee finds the caretaker intimidating, so when they get hurt, they try to hide it from them. Them managing to hide it for a few hours, but getting caught when they end up bleeding through their bandages and onto their clothes in front of the caretaker. The caretaker noticing, and asking the whumpee why there’s blood on their clothes, and the whumpee trying to brush off their concern. The caretaker not believing the whumpee, and asking them to sit down and let them see what’s wrong. The whumpee hesitantly doing so, and the caretaker taking a minute to look at the wound, then grabbing a first aid kit and patching them up properly. The whumpee being surprised with how careful the caretaker is, and so when the caretaker gently asks why they didn't ask for help sooner, the whumpee admitting that they were intimidated. The caretaker being caught off guard by this, since they’ve never thought they seemed intimidating, and them reassuring the whumpee that it’s okay to come to them if they’re sick or hurt, and that they’d rather know so they can help. The whumpee tentatively agreeing to tell them in the future, and the caretaker making sure to keep a closer eye on them in the future, just incase they hide something again.

When the whumpee hurts their leg, but they don't want to worry their teammates or deal with proper medical care, so they decide not to say anything. The whumpee trying to hide the fact that they’re limping from their teammates, but getting caught after only a few hours, and their teammates making them tell them what happened. The whumpee admitting that they got hurt and didn't say anything, and their teammates asking why. The whumpee admitting that they didn't want to worry them, and their teammates pointing out that they’re going to worry more if the whumpee hides this kind of thing. The whumpee begrudgingly admitting that that makes sense, and their teammates making them get medical care.

“Ok, I know you had to push through that, but now that it’s over, it’s time for you to rest. Come on, let’s get you home. You need to get some sleep.”

“Are you sure that you can handle that? You’ve barely been out of the hospital for 2 days, you need to take it easy.”

“Honestly, it’s really not surprising that you passed out. How exactly did you think staying up for that long would go?” “Ok, we really need to get you to an actual doctor. This looks infected, and that's more than I can handle here, you need actual, professional help.” “I know you hate accepting help, but you don't really have a choice at this point. You’re too weak to even stand, so letting us care for you is the only option you have.”

“Go take a nap, _________. You look like you haven't slept for a month.”

When the whumpee stands up from where they’ve been sitting and talking to the caretaker, and they stagger, vision blurring as they nearly pass out. The caretaker jumping up and steadying them, then lowering them back down into a chair. Them putting a hand on the whumpee’s shoulder to ground them as the whumpee recollects themselves, and then asking how they’ve feeling, and if they have any idea why they nearly fainted. The whumpee admitting that they’ve been a little tired lately, but that they didn't realize it was bad enough for them to almost pass out, and the caretaker getting them to bed so they can get some rest.

When the whumpee feels absolutely terrible, but they have to travel. The whumpee leaning on the caretaker’s shoulder almost the entire time, not having the energy to sit up for that long on their own, and the caretaker half carrying them anytime they have to walk. The caretaker bringing the whumpee to the caretaker’s house, since they don't want to leave them alone, and immediately lowering them onto the couch, telling the whumpee to just hang in there for a few minutes while they get a couple things, and then the caretaker will get them into a proper bed. The whumpee trying to listen to them, but dozing off on the couch less than a minute later. The caretaker coming back to find them slumped against the arm of the couch, sound asleep. The caretaker considering just settling them in a more comfortable position on the couch, but ultimately deciding to just carry the whumpee to a proper bed. Them tucking the whumpee in, and the whumpee waking up the next morning with no idea how they got there, but feeling safe and cared for.

My life is still chaotic, even though I just finished my freshmen year of college, but I’m going to try to get back to regular posting. (No idea if I’ll actually manage it, but I’m going to make an effort.)
