Anatomy Drawings

These anatomy drawings were done for my life drawing classes at media design school and with the aim to focus on the shape and accurate proportions of the body, we had a variety in times for each pose but i believe i captured the positions of the model fairly well but i need to focus on a few areas to improve.

I need to make sure that my body proportions are kept in check as you can see in a few of these some of the legs don’t match up with their counterparts and i also need to make sure if i’m drawing from the side i’m capturing the perspective correctly

Form and light

These form and light drawings i did for the life drawing classes i attended at media design school.

My focus was obviously the form and light and some of these poses change in the amount of time we had to do them but the main thing i tried to go for was the pressure of my lines as i have a bad habit of doing really hard outlines and then filling in shading afterwards, so rather than doing that i tried to keep the lines and the shades blended or in this case not trying to use lines at all and just create the outlines with the shadows themselves.

Gesture Poses

These are some gesture drawings i did for life drawing classes at media design school they varies in time from 30 seconds to half an hour sets.

I mainly focused on trying to get the lines to flow into one another to create ‘action’ or movement, i also focused on actually keeping the detail quite minimum.

i learnt from this to keep my pencil light and to try and leave the page as little as possible to create long elegant lines full of movement so that when others are viewing my work they can understand the action that’s happening in the present.

Work i did for the final portfolio piece for traditional art class, This work specifically means a lot to me right now as currently i’m working as a bartender most nights of the week and learning cocktails quite heavily and the Negroni in question is one of my favorite drinks to both make and drink personally.

I first sketched out the hand and tried to get that looking right then proceeded to sketch the glass and lastly sketched out the lettering, my basic idea was that i wanted a hand reaching out from the darkness at the Negroni, i painted the items on the page in that order as well finishing with the background

Just some wallpapers i made today when i was a little bored, inspiration comes from the game Skyrim when enemies would scream ‘I will feast on your heart’ along with the mouth vector comes from one of my favorite shirts from City Approval ‘Hounds of hell’ Did this purely for my own use as i got bored of my old wallpaper but decided to share.

Creative Piece

This is something completly different because unlike the first to where i was working off a structured life from i had a bit of freedom with the octopus i drew and decided to explore the way the tentacles would have light hitting them etc but all the same followed a similar process as before in outlining with pencil to filling one colour and building up as the process is working well for me.

Colour Piece

again like the previous i followed similar steps of starting out with a rough pencil outline and then filled it in a light skin type colour and added in the darker sections followed by adding the lighter if im honest not 100% happy with the outcome as i messed up the thumb but as to the painting techniques i learnt considering that since this project it was the first time i had picked up a paint brush im pretty happy

Monochromatic Piece

I first drew the hand in a 6b pencil so quite dark so i could get the structure right then proceeded to map in in one colour and keep going over and over making the sections i needed for the shadows darker until eventually it got to the highlights stage where i just gave a nice pure light across the top in hopes to help break the darkness.

I Always enjoy painting and would love to spend more time doing it just such an expensive type of artwork especially as a person that doesn't enjoy and get pride out of every single piece of their work but non the less always a good time.

Final Piece

Though i didnt get to spend as much time as i wanted originally (i was really ill) i did still have fun with the sand dunes and adding depth to them, My intention was to have the sun so it was to the top right of the image off scene cause the sand dunes to all have quite a dark shadow on the one side and the top to be a piercing glow, and then have the rock formations in the background as to add some level of depth and eye breaks for the audience. defiantly happy with what i learnt during the brief study and plan to take it further

I have a fairly good idea on what i want to go for now based on the 2nd image down the right, its based in a desert theme and im really interested to see where i can take it.

I started to use markers on these silhouettes to try and add some depth to the image and make it easier to understand what im trying to go for

Back again towards more of the mountain theme and still trying to give it a bit more detail or something else going on so it doesnt seem bland

These silhouettes are giving me a good idea though these have a sun present i dont want to place a sun in my final piece as it always seems cheap and tacky the only real reason its present at the moment is due to wanting to show a light source

Im already swaying towards a mountain theme for my final piece

Really happy with how these are turning out and how quick they are to gain a nice idea of the overall image
