Legs were so sore from yesterday’s run to Cape Pillar. It was frigid morning. Temperatures were sub zero and I hardly had any sleep. . Poked my head out of the tent just before dawn only to see cloudy skies and instantly wanted to crawl back. Had to drag myself out to the beach. Soon, the clouds started clearing and got a chance to witness an epic sunrise 🌅 . #worthit . Listed as endangered and near extinct, the Tasmanian devil has this name because of its mental screams, gnarly growls, dark black colour, foul odour, and for its tempter and aggressive behaviour. . Though it looks like a tiny puny its large head and neck allow it to generate the strongest bites per unit body mass of any extant mammal land predator. . They were far from devilish in real life though. They were like puppy dogs running around chasing and playing with each other with mad screams. . It’s been my bucket list to summit Cradle mountain but today wasn’t the day. Gust, rain and snow made it hard to get anywhere close to 500 meters. . Instead had to settle down with a run and did the circuit around Dove Lake. It’s every Indian kids dream to go to the USA one day and experience the American dream. Back in 2007, when the company I was working for wanted me to move to the USA, it was a ‘Dream come true’ day for me and my family. A passport to escape poverty. I remember when I came to the United States in my mid 20s leaving behind all my friends and family. . The following 6 years was one of the best times of my life. Irrespective of my race and background, I was recognized and was presented with all kind of opportunities to learn and grow. Helped me to grow professionally to become the project manager of a leading tech firm in the Silicon Valley. . My real love for the USA is for its National parks and the great outdoors. I found my love for ultra distance running that changed my life style and brought amazing people into my life. It helped me a lot to grow and becoming the person I am today. . When I asked the ranger for a good, scenic, primitive camping spot, he replied: “Site #3 is the best. There are no trails leading to the campsite. It’s perched among the bushes on top of a bluff looking towards the ocean and might get windy but it’s THE BEST”. It became a mission to find the site. No trails and had to climb straight up a bluff through some steep grassy slope and there it was. . The views of the #LostCoast was spectacular indeed. Just as we finished pitching the tent to watch sunset, a herd of Elk, about 50-60 of them, paid a visit to our campsite and they were chilling around all evening. . 🏕🦌 🌊 🌅 . It doesn’t matter what is your nationality, religion or background, preparation and eating of the food is something that we all have in common with one another and nothing like connecting with people over food. During my travels, I offer to cook Indian food for the people who host me. There is no better way to share your culture and tradition than cooking a meal from your country. . It is not only just to eat, but to discuss and to connect with each other. Preparation process prompts to ask questions, share about your culture and stories from the road. Preparation of food is the process where you can be involved no matter how good you are in cooking. You can gain new skills and you can teach others too. . To me, travel is all about learning and growing, to know each other better and to discover new thing about them and about you. Gathering around the table sharing a meal with strangers you just met in a remote land is an amazing way to create everlasting memories. . Pictures from my 2015 trip to Spain. I was running in the Pyrenees region when I met this family who hosted me in their beautiful mountain cabin. They offer me the best Paella I have ever had while I shared some Madras chicken curry. . Riding a tandem bike for 2000 mi to and through New Zealand during @freedomseat was hard enough. I wanted to carry as less and lightweight stuff as possible for the journey. While experimenting with several shelter options, the bivy system turned out to be the best one. . Since then I have logged thousands of miles with this bivy including my recent #indianpacificwheelride and it worked amazing . Weighs just about 500 gm and packs real small. Carrying less and lightweight stuff means going further and faster. After the massive climb to Marlette lake, you skid around it up to the crest of the hill and the vista opens up to Deep blue waters of Lake Tahoe and the snowy mountains around it. . Rad single track trail I have ever ridden in Lake Tahoe area. This is the Flume Trail on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.

#BillionStarHotel for New Year’s Eve. A new year tradition of mine where I climb a summit/peak to witness stunning sunrise by n New Years morning. So blessed to be spending in Yosemite this year with this view. Half dome to the east and El Capitan to the west. Saw a stunning sunset.
