Henri Guillaume Schlesinger - "The Five Senses: Hearing" (1865)
Being critical of your interests is sooooo fun when you have the critic gene & then you sound kind of insane to the average tv watcher when you're like "this is my favorite show, It's Racist" & then you try to clarify what you mean & get that [Speech (legendary) - FAILURE] "the racism is really interesting though"
[Speech (legendary) - SUCCESS] I find the sociopolitical context of pulpy old sci-fi born circa the civil rights movement really fascinating to analyze especially when it was progressive for its time but still reveals the writers' unexamined biases in the subtext
Them: So you're saying its bad and I shouldn't watch it?
Me: I mean depends on your tolerance for this type of racism, but like I said it's my favourite show, it def has some great parts if you're up for it.
Them: Oh so it's not racist.
Me: It absolutely is.
Them: So you're saying racism is ok??
Me: No.
Stephen King’s Fujo
yeah @sunderwight these tags are gold
i didnt know ted mosby was in not another teen movie
and he's basically playing ted mosby... he's making meta commentary that breaks the fourth wall, he's calling girls slutty...
i know we all do it and i dont mean to be a hater, but i fucking hate bathroom humor
i didnt know ted mosby was in not another teen movie
still cant decide how i feel about the southern book club's guide to slaying vampires, but i do know this: none of those damn husbands got what they deserved
happy pride, i didn't know being gay was an option til age 11, but i would say shit like "if my best friend was a man i would marry her"
ultimately the truth about frankenstein is that we are all grotesque amalgamations of the best and worst parts of everyone who came before us. and sometimes the people who are supposed to love us because of and in spite of this will not. and we can kill them with hammers for that. and i think that’s beautiful
my brother in christ frankenstein is the title of the book
COUNTERPOINT
well i can’t argue with that one
Ah yes, Mary Shelley’s monster.
no mary shelley is the name of the monster not the doctor
common misconception! mary shelley's monster was actually lord byron
idk if this is an usamerican thing or not but it always blows my mind as a small european country resident that yall have many names and types of apples???? what do you mean its not just red yellow or green??? why is it so complicated??? who is granny smith????
'whats your favorite apple' 'red' 'no i mean like what type' '??????' actual conversatiom i've had with a mutual from usa
THIRTY TWO??????
Listen that doesn’t even account for all the weird shit local farmers are getting up to.
May I present the best apple:
the world is so big and beautiful
I think we’re actually right about this thing and we should do it with more things
question for my substack, and particularly my stephen king series: i'm getting to about the point where my experience in fandom is really gonna influence my perception of the book. and i am torn between talking about that under my writer profile. do yall think that talking about king fandom would make more people read it, and/or do you think it would undercut my point or credibility as a writer?
King's second novel with a girl's name doesn't give its ladies their due
happy pride to dennis and arnie. watch out for red cars.
dumb cis person question... i'm writing about Christine for my article series on female characters. i dont think the car has a gender and my argument is that gender is more relevant to humans -- because of the expectations we put on them -- than animals or, say, living cars. is there anything terribly offensive abt that?
GUYS... if i go to colorado this summer and layover in o'hare, on god i'm gonna have breakfast in the infamous chili's
my dad is flipping out about how much i've borrowed in student loans again. i wanna say something like bitch... do you know how hard it is to exist in america without debt
