you’re allowed to settle for a calm life, despite people on social media making it seem like you should do all these adventurous things. you don’t have to travel far and wide in order to be happy. you don’t have to have an amazing career in order to be proud of who you are and your life. live your life the way you want to, calm lives are good. a calm life is what i’m aiming for.

I've already seen discourse on Twitter about Keanu Reeves and his girlfriend bc apparently, 46 ISN'T age appropriate for a 55 year old man or something and I'm starting to think some people don't understand the discussion about age gap relationships....it's not about age gaps themselves, it's about adults dating people who aren't adults (usually teenagers). But also, 46 and 55 is age appropriate jfc

Let's see some examples:

3 year gap between a 15 and 18 year old: BAD. ILLEGAL. FUCKED UP.

3 year gap between a 30 and 33 year old: they're practically the same age

10 year gap between a 25 and 35 year old: hmm kinda weird, might let it slide, but no.

10 year gap between a 60 and 70 year old: yeah trust me you're good.

9 year gap between a 20 and a 29 year old: let me put this into perspective, person A could be in their second year of college and person b graduated 7 years before. That's weird and they're at INFINITELY different stages in life.

9 year gap between a 46 year old and a 55 year old: they're both middle aged, they're both at the same stage in life, they've probably both have had some sense of stability for a while now and probably no wildly violent life changes like high school/college/first job/first partner have happened in a while. It's FINE.

seriously fuck telling kids “don’t do drugs”. show them what it’s like, tell them about the withdrawals, tell them about how they won’t be able to get out of bed, how they’re bones won’t stop aching, they’ll be throwing up, and shitting themselves. tell them about how so many people OD on drugs. tell them about how some people end up in the ER because of withdrawals and they can’t stop screaming and crying. dont just tell them not to do it. show them what it’s like to stop, tell them about the withdrawals.

Please. I'm begging. Stop using the word "processed" to mean "bad chemical additives." the term "processed" on a food box can literally just mean it was *cooked*. Stop just telling people to "not eat processed foods" it means absolutely nothing. I'm sorry there's no single magic word for the cursed no-no foods but it just doesn't work that way and you have to specify exactly what you're saying is harmful about every specific food you're referring to or the whole discussion is gibberish.

The “would you choose your pets over your partner” argument is legit so stupid to me because no one who actually cares about you would ever ask you to make that choice. Like of course I’m going to choose my animals that are completely dependent on my care, love me unconditionally, and would not be able to understand why their lives were uprooted if I got rid of them over an asshole who made me make a choice like that despite knowing how important my animals are to me.
