Too Cool For School Art Class by Rodin: Contouring Powder, Highlighter and Blush
Hello! I know itās been a while since the last time I wrote anything in here. So, Iām here for a highly requested and special review! Today, Iāll be reviewing the famous Art Class by Rodin line! Yes ^^ I have all of them :)
Descriptions:
Contour your new face line at the hands of the greatest sculptor, Rodin
Createur du Contour (Contouring Powder/ Contour)- Experience improved facial contours by the breath of an artist
Enlumineur (Highlighter)- Strobing face technique that adds gleaming lights
Fard a Joues (Blush)- Beaming watercolor blush that adds delicate glow to cheeks
Capacities: 9.5 g (Contour), 11 g (Highlighter), 9.5 g (Blush)
Price: 500 Php/ 11,500 KRW/ 10 USD each (Sale price, regular price is around 750 Php/ 17,000 KRW/ 15 USD each.. Got in a 2+1 deal, Shipped from Korea)
On to the review!
Packaging:
I have no words to describe how beautiful they are! These might be one of the prettiest products I have in my collection so far.
Brown for the contour powder
Light pink for the highlighter
Peach for the blush
Did you notice that even the illustrations in the boxes vary too?
Each one is also encased in light paper
and a piece of thin plastic to prevent the powder from messing up the mirror
Score: 5/5
Price:
Too Cool for School is a mid-ranged brand and is slightly more expensive than Etude House and Nature Republic. However, I got this for a 2+1 deal so I get one for free ^^ However, upon trying these out, I think itās still a good deal to buy them even at a regular price... considering the quality of the contour and the blush.
Score: 5/5
Texture and Feel:
I really love the texture and formula of the contour. Itās just the right consistency, not to powdery and not too pigmented
Iām disappointed by the formula of their highlighter though :( Thereās a lot of fall out every single time I try to put it on my face. In addition, I find that the shimmers are still too big. I expected for a more refined type of shimmer for a natural glow. I hope they reformulate this to be on par with their contouring powder.
The blush has a similar texture to the contour :) I like it so much!
Here are the swatches... each are only done with one swipe with a brush
Shade 1 is a color similar to a coffee with lots of milk in it.
Shade 2 is a neutral light brown color.
Shade 3 is a neutral medium brown color
As you all can see, all colors have a neutral undertone which will make contouring easier and more natural-looking, even for beginners. However, these color are meant for people with lighter skin. If you are anyone with skin darker than the 3rd shade, this probably wouldnāt be for you.
Shade 1 is a light champagne color
Shade 2 is a beige color
Shade 3 is a rosy beige color
The colors are not very visible so if youāre extra fair, you shouldnāt worry much. :)
Shade 1 is a light yellowish peach color
Shade 2 is a peach color
Shade 3 is a pinkish peach color
Overall, the blush is the least pigmented but I like building up the color of my blushes so I like it that way :) The colors are extremely beautiful! This is my favorite one out of the three.
Score: 5/5
Scent:
These are entirely unscented :)
Finish/ Lasting Power:
The lasting power is amazing! It didnāt even come off even on a hot and humid day :)
The results are extremely natural! Just enhances my features, which I really like :)
Score: 5/5
Total Score:
Contour and Blush: 5/5 I highly recommend these two! The formula and colors are amazing! A definite repurchase for me.
Highlighter: 4.38/5 Still a pretty good highlighter. I wish that the shimmers are a little more refined but itās still a good addition to my Art Class by Rodin Collection
Hello ^^ Long time no see guys! Iām back with a review from Mamonde. The brand is pretty well known for their rose- themes line and I have been trying one of the products out for weeks to review for you ^^ I initially wanted to try their Rose Water toner since a lot of beauty bloggers have been raving about how good and gentle it is on the skin but when I saw this, I decided to try it instead since sleeping masks are my obsession! Haha ^^
Description: - Amazing anti-aging effects of honey and roses
- Anti- wrinkle
- Contains rose oil bead which dissolves immediately and moisturizes and protects the skin at night
Capacity: 80 ml
Price: 600 Php/ 12.38 USD/ 12,380 KRW
On to the review!
Packaging:
I really like the look of the packaging. It looks really simple yet feminine which matches he product inside. Mamonde had also put a seal between the glass jar and the cap which guarantees that the product wouldnāt spill before you had the the chance to use it :) However, Iām not sure if I like the fact that the product is contained inside a glass jar. I mean it looks really nice and sophisticated on my table but I really canāt bring it with me when Iām traveling. Itās not that the glass could easily break. The jar is made of really study glass and I think it could survive my travel bag but Iām afraid that its a little too heavy to carry while traveling
Score: 4/5
Price:
I think this product is a little expensive for the amount of product that you get inside. I mean itās 600 Php for 80 ml while my Pumpkin Sleeping Pack from Too Cool For School costs 480 Php for 100 ml O.O
To get an idea of how long it might last, hereās the amount I have left after using the product for three weeks.
However, if you have the budget, I still would recommend that you try it out :) (I like this product so much! + A little goes a long way ^^) Itās still pretty full and I think it will last me for months more.
Score: 3/5
Texture and Feel:
I have no words to describe how heavenly this sleeping mask feels on the the skin. It glides on the skin without pulling.
See those bead-like things? Those are the rose oil beads contained inside the product ^^ I thought that Iāll have a hard time melting those in my skin but they melted as soon as they touched my skin ^^ Ah~ so nice~
Score: 5/5
Scent:
This smells like real roses! So heavenly <3 If youāre like me who loves the smell of roses, youāll definitely love this product even just for its scent ^^ Although... for those of you who might have a veeery sensitive nose, the scent might be bad news. However, donāt worry ^^ Itās not so heavily scented. Itās very bearable ^^
Effectivity:
This definitely did its job on keeping my skin moisturized :) I felt like its doing its job at keeping wrinkles at bay. I always wake up with really moisturized skin. ^^ I think that Iāll be using this for a very long time ^^
Score: 5/5
Total Score: 4.25/5 I really like this product and I think Iāll definitely repurchase it ^^ I just hope that I can get it for a cheaper price someday though...
Hello. I hope you are doing well and are feeling good about yourself. Truthfully Iām here to answer the most frequently asked questions of all time here in my blog which were:
And
Most of you might have thought that I would provide a tutorial or some sort of steps when I promised to answer your questions with a post. However, Iām not here to do that. I wonāt teach you any makeup tricks or introduce a product for that. In fact, Iām here to ask you a question in return. Ā
Maybe yes. Maybe no. Itās a hard question to answer. Having insecurities about your appearance is normal but I just want you to know that youāre not alone. I have been there and yes, like some of you, I have been bullied because of my appearance. Words back then hurt a lot and sometimes having friends in highschool depended if youāre pretty enough or not.
Television, magazines and social networking platforms like Instagram and Facebook have been releasing trends which were the basis of todayās beauty. Of course its tempting to try them and Iām not telling you to avoid doing what you see in Instagram.
Please know that you will never look like Kylie Jenner or Lilymaymac after putting on the lipsticks they use, the brow drawing technique they do and you should not feel bad about it. Embrace you. Embrace your features. Embrace your individuality. Because if the world becomes full of Kylie Jenners and Lilymaymacs, wouldnāt it be boring?
As a makeup artist who have collaborated with brands and worked for photoshoots, I know that those pictures, videos even, that we let you see were highly manipulated products of hours of hairstyling, makeup, right camera angle and lots and lots of Photoshop. On cases, the people we take pictures of sometimes donāt even look like themselves anymore. Todayās beauty industry have been bloating our insecurities and capitalizing on them in order to sell you that new mascara, that new eyeliner or that new lip liner that some company released. Small eyes and thin lips were never a problem before but now, the media almost always tells you otherwise.
Put on makeup not because you need to get prettier but because you want to and you feel that youāre putting on your very best self when you do; not for other people of course, for you. Itās very very heartbreaking to see girls (and even boys) as young as 12 message me and ask me āHow do Ā become prettier? My friends donāt think Iām pretty/ handsome enoughā
Most of you may want to change your appearances because of peer pressure or your desire to be noticed by someone you like. But let me tell you this.
Donāt ever doubt that.
Trust me, trying to change your appearance for someone else other than yourself hurts a whole lot. And Iām not talking about the pain you might feel if you start plucking your eyebrows, waxing your arms and legs if youāre hairy as hell. Iām talking about the hurt youāll feel in the inside even if you just needed to change a part of what you look like. And if you have to look prettier in order for you to be a part of that group of popular girls, theyāre probably not going to treat you as a friend. And if you need to be prettier in order for that guy to notice you, then heās probably a douche bag who only cares if heās with a pretty girl. Learn from my mistakes.
Go ahead and start your own skincare routine, learn and experiment with makeup. You can even go ahead and go for plastic surgery. I wonāt judge. I promise. Heck, Iāll even accompany you. As long as you are happy and as long as you will be doing it for you and not someone else. And with that change, I hope that youāll be happier and more confident than ever.
Hi! I had gotten my hands on some products from Eglips some time ago ^^ Some of you guys may be familiar with the brand if you watch Ponyās makeup tutorials in Youtube. She highly recommends this powder, has been using this in many of her tutorials and lists this as one of her favorite makeup products. Since Iām a fan of Pony, I wanted to try this product and see if my opinion meets hers. I have this is shade #21. With this, I also got the Glow Powder back but I;ll save it for another review.
Description: - Revives skin radiance.
- Makes natural and healthy skin.
- Multi-function ; anti- wrinkle, decreases the appearance of enlarged pores and unevenness.
- Ultra fine and light powder without heaviness.
Capacity: 9 g
Price: 410 Php/ 8.71 USD/ 9,715 KRW (shipped from Korea)
Read on to know more ^^
Packaging:
The powder is very very compact and could easily fit into a bag pocket. The container has a textured finish which gives it a sophisticated look. The overall look of the powder pact is very minimalist, clean and straightforward.
From my point of view, the small size of the compact is both a pro and a con of the product. Since it is small, it would be easy to fit into a makeup pouch or a bag pocket and would not occupy much space, allowing us to fit in more makeup products into the bag while traveling. However, a smaller compact also meant that you would get a smaller mirror and powder puff and itās never an enjoyable experience to apply powder with a small mirror and a tiny puff. Given that fact, I only use this when Iām traveling or when I go out as I really hate having to waste time applying my powder little by little at a time.
The box doesnāt have any English descriptions of the product. Itās all in Korean. Those who cannot understand Korean and would like to know about the product the are getting, this be a little unappealing. But I wonāt hate a product because of that.
I like the fact that they provided a little plastic thingy that separates that puff from the powder. It sits nicely inside the compact and prevents a used puff from contaminating the product. You see, oil from the face is transferred into the puff when you put powder on and if the puff is in full contact with the product when itās not in use, it allows bacteria to build in the product and in the puff. That will result in breakouts and other skin problems. So, good job Eglips!
Ah~ the puff. The puff is really good! (Ah! please be reminded that I have to photograph the puff used since my camera canāt really capture white that well)
I mentioned earlier that I hate that the puff is tiny but overall, I really really like it! It is finest powder puff Iāve ever seen and used! I canāt describe it well but its really really heavenly!
Score: 3.5/5
Price:
I think 9 grams from 410 pesos is a good deal ^^ This might be a good product for those of you who are in a lookout for low cost Korean powders.
Score: 5/5
Color:
For color reference, this is the swatch in my arm. I used the provided puff and didnāt blend it in.
I have the powder in #21 and it matches my skin. They also have this in #23 for those of you who have darker skintones and #13 for those of you who may be paler than me.
Score: 5/5
Texture and Feel:
I have no issue with the texture and feel of the powder. True to its claims, the powder is finely milled ans isnāt chalky. It isnāt heavy at all. My skin didnāt have any allergic reactions to the product and thatās good.
Score: 5/5
Scent:
Whoa... Itās the first time Iāve encountered something like this. This powder doesnāt have a scent at all O.O I have a really great sense of smell so I usually could detect even just the tiniest bit of scent in a product but thereās really no scent in here. This might be good news for those of you who are allergic to scents and fragrance.
Effectivity/ Lasting Power:
Iād like to put a little disclaimer on this portion before I start. I just would like to put this out there and tell all of you that. I really really donāt like using colored powder personally since I put on quite a few layers of base products in my skin already and in my opinion, colored powder does highlight the texture of the skin (pores, wrinkles and other stuff). I also have very dry skin so I canāt possibly put this allover my face because of the reason I stated before. So bear in mind that I only tested this all over my face once and but used this on my nose area and the extremely dry and problematic parts of my face (where thereās lots of skin texture such as my under-eye area and cheeks. Doing so will enable me to test the product on extremes (super oily and super dry skin types) without compromising my own comfort during the test period.
Okay, since I got that all out, letās begin. As always, when Iām testing out base products, the pictures are unedited and my cameraās skin smoothing function is turned off. I had put the product all over my face this time.
I really wanted to take a picture of what it looks like on my face but honestly, thereās no visible difference between the baby powder I use and this pact. This is not bad. In fact, its good. Powder is meant to blend with your makeup and if you can see the powder, it means that you might be applying too much or the product is just bad. This is not visible when itās freshly applied.
Eglips claims that this is supposed to minimize the appearance of fine lines and pores and it did that. Really O.O Iām amazed. This might be good to use during shoots and at events where youāre taking lots of photos since its a colored powder, it wouldnāt flashback and would turn you into a flour-covered monster in photos. I used this at my graduation (see picture above) and it didnāt disappoint.
However, I would like to point out some other things and take you up close on that photo.
You can see here that my skin looks photoshoped on most of the parts. But you can already see creases on my under-eye area since I cried sometime before taking that picture. Donāt ask. Itās graduation. This means that the powder isnāt water proof while is okay since they didnāt claim that itās waterproof. Iām totally fine with powders that are not waterproof since I always use translucent powders but since this is colored, it will always always be visible once it starts to accumulate moisture and begins to huddle up so keep that in mind.
One thing is that since this one is colored, it will kinda be a little visible once all your oil starts to creep up. Kinda like another layer of foundation on your skin but that will go away once you blot your skin :)
Score: 3.5/5
Total Score: 4.4/5 A bunch of lows and a bunch of highs for me. Honestly, I reeeaaally want to love it since Pony loves it so much but I donāt think itās for me. I think Iāll have a better chance of the other powder I purchased from Eglips. So watch out for that review soon ^^
Before I begin this long post, I would like to thank handaseis here on Tumblr for doing my lovely web theme! Thank you so much! I really really love it! If you like anime, check out her Tumblr ^^ She post wonderful edits in there ^^
Hi! If you have been following me or have been regularly visiting my blog, you may have known that I have not been posting anything for a month now. As much as I hate excuses, I think Iād have to tell you about why I did so since some of you have been contacting me and asking me why I havenāt posted anything for some time now.
This probably will be the start of my more personal posts in here. Since some of you guys have been wanting to know me as a person, not just a blogger. Iāll be back to my regular posting schedule every Saturday after ^^ I hope that you like this post and donāt hesitate to message me if you have any questions for me :)
Well, if you are one of my friends from Facebook or have been following me in Instagram, I think you already know that Iāve just graduated last June 23rd after five long years and it has been hard for me to adjust into the real world.
Social life is starting to creep in again and I have to do a lot of catching up with some of my friends specially since I spent my whole college life in Baguio and moved back to my hometown. In addition, Iām still really really missing Baguio.
Another reason is that Iāve been dealing with a major stalker issue for the past few weeks. The stalker managed to contact me through here in Tumblr, in Facebook, in Instagram and had managed to contact some of the friends I really know in real life, not just online and have been asking them for my contact details and whereabouts. The whole fiasco had drained all of my energy and surely, I donāt want to write a post if Iām not really into writing at the time.
Donāt worry guys! I finally have it under control, thanks to the help of some people :)
Putting that aside, Iāve been re-studying special effects makeup and have gotten into posting some of my works on my Instagram account. If you havenāt followed me yet, feel free to follow me. I am @gheangerradishtea on Instagram. This is my latest work.
Not a fan of gore? Donāt worry haha I donāt always post these kind of things in my instagram :)
You guys donāt probably know that a visual art skill is kinda a must to be good with makeup. Control, precision, symmetry and other skills needed in makeup can be also learned by practicing art. Iāve been playing mostly with watercolors which is a good practice for makeup as well as they are almost similar mediums. Watercolors needed thin and light color application in able for you to use them at their best. Same goes with makeup.
Hello ^^ I will be reviewing Etude Houseās Soft Cream Puff for you today. This is one of Koreaās dupes for the super hyped and super expensive Beauty Blender sponge. It has been one of my beauty essentials for years now so you can probably tell that I like it so much. (I have four of these already ^^) Haha ^^
Description: This Soft Cream Puff is ideal for all types of makeup application.
Price: 348 Php/ 7.41 USD/ 7,410 KRW
Read on to know more :)
Packaging:
The sponge is packaged in a simple plastic box with minimal detail. The plastic box is made of a pretty sturdy material as it withstood my the tumble and pressure brought out by my other luggage items when I went back from Baguio to Manila. I donāt think I need to elaborate on the box as it does not affect the overall performance of the product anyway.
But... regarding the presentation of the actual product itself...
For those of you who donāt know, the Soft Cream Puff is a repackaged version of Etude Houseās previously existing dupe for the the Beauty Blender, the Baby Doll Puff which is in a hot pink color.
The new Soft Cream Puff would immediately turn into a patchy, foundation-colored sponge after the very first usage and it will stay that way even after thorough cleaning. Take note that Iāve cleaned both the used sponges before taking pictures.
The foundation stains on the much older Baby Doll puff isnāt noticeable due to its dark color. This may not be much of a factor for most of us who do not display or use their sponges on other people but this is a really big factor to me as a makeup artist as some picky clients may find that foundations stains in a sponge means that it isnāt clean or the makeup artist just have some hygeine issues with his/ her tools.
Score: 3.5/5
Price:Ā
The productās price may be a little too steep for just a makeup sponge. I too initially thought that and opted to buy cheaper alternatives such as the 50 Php for two pieces ones that can be bought in the nearest Watsons. However, those ones only lasted me around two days, absorb too much product and would degrade and tear when washed so just trust me on this. This sponge is extremely worth it considering that Iām a makeup artist and could be a little rough with my sponges.
Score: 5/5
Texture and Feel:
The sponge has really really fine holes designed to mimic the skinās pores and therefore make the base application look as natural as possible. This what it looks like after one year of usage. The āporesā of the sponge are still really fine and it will look even finer if your Soft Cream Puff is brand new. I hoped to let you see how fine it is in its pristine condition but my camera has trouble with focusing into objects that are almost white.
This sponge is a lot more denser than your ordinary disposable latex sponges and therefore can be a little tougher when tapping it into your skin throughout the first few uses but donāt worry it will eventually soften through regular washing.
If youāre scare that you will feel like the sponge will feel like its punching your face, try what Iāve been trying on my new sponges. Wash them around three to four times before the first usage. I guarantee that it will be a little squishier when you use it ^^ Be careful when washing it though. Donāt dig your long fingernails into the sponge.
Score: 5/5
Scent:
Like most sponges should smell. Thereās no heavy smell of latex or rubber :)
Effectivity:
Makeup sponges should make base makeup application easier and work with the foundation for a seemless finish to mimic the original skin texture. I believe that sponges should apply the base makeup thinly while using a little product as possible.
This is one of the pictures Iāve taken using a liquid foundation and the Soft Cream Puff. This is unedited (zero filter and skin blurring) and the skin enhancement settings of my camera were disabled.
And since this was taken on a 14 megapixel camera, letās zoom in to see the skin finish.
No stamp marks can be seen and the foundation is applied very very thinly so the skin texture remains the same. If you look closely on my left cheek (your right), you can see that I have some bumps the skin as well as some rough and uneven skin texture in my upper lip. Since the sponge applied the makeup thinly, those bumps and uneven skin texture were not enhanced. Itās like putting on a new layer of skin, not covering it. I hate to be technical about these things but itās my preference on base makeup.
Score: 5/5
Total Score: 4.6/5 I believe this is a good alternative to the Beauty Blender when youāre on a tight budget or just a makeup beginner ^^ Itās so worth it. Trust me :)
Hello ^^ Today I would be reviewing a very very cute product for all of you! This was released on the last week of March and yes I know itās very late already considering that this is a limited edition product but I think you can still get your hands on this collection since they added new products to this line last April. This one was included in those additions ^^ I have this in #3 Sally Orange. Letās get this started, shall we?
Description: - Eye palette for daily wearable makeup
- Matte, shimmer, glitter- 3 textures
- Outstanding pigmentation and longevity with fixer binding system
Capacity: 1.8 g x 4 eyeshadows = 7.2 g
Price: 720 Php/ 15.62 USD/ 15,620 KRW (Shipped from Korea)
Read on ^^
Packaging:
I bought this palette since I... needed to add more orange colors to my eyeshadow collection. *starts laughing nervously* Nah~ I just bought this since it was so cute! Iām not much of a Line app user and more of Kakao kind of gal but I immediately bought this when I saw it since it was so so cute!
The box and the palette cover have the same designs, a bright orange theme with Sally the Chick. The palette is totally matte so there will be no chance of leaving those ugly fingerprints behind. This also minimizes the appearance of those unavoidable scratches youāll make in the palette. Yay! This also makes the palette look a little grown-up despite of having a cartoon-y feel to it. In addition, matte palettes always tend to look better in pictures.
The palette is as big as my palms and once opened, you have a big mirror which would be perfect for putting on your eye makeup of when touching up ^^ I personally like having big mirrors in my palettes since it minimizes the bulk of what I have to bring when I travel.
The palette seems sturdy enough to protect the shadows inside.
At the back you can see the name of the product, palette shade and the batch number and expiration date which is written in black. Ah! see those holes in there? You can stick in a needle or pin in there to pop the shadow out and replace it with another shade from Missha ^^Ā There are two more holes in the middle which is covered by the sticker. I especially like this since I usually donāt wear all of the colors at once.
Price:
The paletteās price is kinda average. Itās not too pricey but not cheap either. Usually I buy Korean single eyeshadows for around 200 Php each. Itās just like buying separate single eyeshadows and then having the case for free.
Score: 3.5/5
Color
Since this palette is called āSally Orangeā so expect to see that most of the shadows to be orange based. Missha listed the names of the colors at the back of the box.
Chic Sally is a champange color with gold glitters. Champange colors basically dissolve and blend with my skin color so itās not that the color didnāt show up well. Haha ^^ I use Chic Sally for my inner corners and aegyo sal. This color fits light skin well.
Silly Sally looks brown in the pan but when swatched, itās a shimmer based dark tangerine which kinda reminds me of orange flavored chocolate. Out of all colors, this one is the most pigmented due to itās dark shade. However, since I have really light skin, out of all colors, this is the least wearable color for me. People with darker skintone may pull this off :)
Cunning Sally is my favorite color from this palette. Itās a wearable coral color with gold glitter. Itās a very feminine color and will show up well on both light and darker skin tones.
Sally Fell in Orange is a matte true orange color. This will be good as a base color if you want other colors from the palette stand out. I also mix this with cunning sally if I want an orange-y coral color.
Score: 4/5
Texture and Feel:
Silly Sally, has the best texture when applied while the glitter based ones, Chic Sally and Cunning Sally swatched well too which is surprising for glitter based eyeshadows. The glitter colors become more vibrant The last color, however, is a little powdery but not too powdery to the point that the color wonāt show up when I put it on my eyes with a brush.
The eyeshadows didnāt irritate my eyes which is good since I tend to randomly scratch my eyes when I get home or get my contact lenses out of my eyes.
Score: 4.5/5
Effectivity/ Lasting Power:
These eyeshadows have really good staying power. It lasts throughout the day on me ^^ Yay!
Score: 5/5
Total Score: 4.4/5 Pretty good palette for those of you who are Lin Friends fans and/ or just looking for a good orange-based palette.
Hello ^^ Itās time to review a product from Amparoās Apothecary, a Baguio based local brand in the Philippines ^^ If you happen to come by across them, please try some of their products :)Ā A huge thanks to Agatha for giving this to me as a gift. (Amparoās Apothecary is one of her favorite local brands ^^)This is my second jar by the way. My parents took away my first one haha (Iāll explain later why ^^)
Overall, the packaging was very practical and straightforward. Simple sticker labels provide basic information of the product and the eye cream was packaged on a fairly simple jar with a double cap in order to prevent the product from leaking out when it melts due to change in temperature. (Iāll discuss why later.)
The jar is made out of pretty durable plastic which didnāt break when I dropped it, protecting the product inside. Since the product may become more solid or more, cream-like depending on the weather, I think itās pretty smart that they packaged it in a jar instead of a squeeze tube. This also allows me to use up all the product.
Score: 5/5
Price:
Auroraās Secret Eye Cream is probably one of the most affordable eye creams Iāll ever see in the market. Very affordable, even in a student budget.
Score: 5/5
Texture and Feel:
Since the main component of this eye cream is shea butter, expect it to act like shea butter. It turns solid when itās cold and it turns into a cream consistency when itās hot.
Personally, i like putting my skincare in the fridge so they give a cooling effect when I put them on my skin. So I put this in the fridge and it turns solid. However, donāt worry about it dragging your skin when itās in its solid form as it dissolves when exposed with the heat your fingers.
The eye cream only contains three components: shea butter, virgin coconut oil and lavender essential oil. Due to its natural ingredients, this didnāt irritate my sensitive skin. However, to some of you who are hella allergic to lavender and lavender oil, please avoid this for obvious reasons.
Score: 5/5
Scent:
This eye cream has a heavy lavender scent to it due to the lavender oil inside. As stated by the product, this is a night time cream. So, donāt use this at day if you donāt want to smell like lavender.
Personally, I donāt like the smell of lavender. However, I learned to like it in the long term as I felt that the scent does help me sleep at night.
Effectivity:
The product is pretty basic and is intended to be a hydrating cream for the skin around eyes so donāt expect it to make your fine lines disappear. I repeat. This didnāt claim that itsā anti-wrinkle. It wonāt do anything than keep your skin moisturized.
This would be a really good product for other people with dry skin like me ^^ My parents have been having dry skin around their eye and mouth areas so they asked me if they could have my first jar. They loved it!
I use this on top of my anti-wrinkle eye cream as my skin is hella dry on most parts. This locks in the moisture as well as take care of those other dry spots you have. Yes. I also use this on other parts of my face. ^^ Ah! Donāt use this on your lips even I told you that itās okay to use this on other dry parts of your face. Use this everywhere except your lips. Lavender oil tastes bad. Take my word on this. I tried. Learn from my mistakes.
Score: 5/5
Total Score: 5/5 I highly recommend this if youāre looking for hydration in your eyes. A pretty basic product that lived up to its claims :) Perfect for dry skin types like me.

This is an extension of the existing Play Nails collection. I may want to grab a few colors from this line just because of the packaging. Man, Etude House has been working hard with the packaging of their products recently. Below are the swatches.
Next comes another extension of the Dear My Blooming Lips Talk Line which come in chiffon and matte and is priced at 9,500 KRW.
Another Palette from Etude House just in time for Summer ^^ Looks so cute too <3
Play Color Eyes Ice Van- 22,000 KRW

Etude also renewed their famous AC Clinic Line and rebranded it as the AC Cleanup Line and released new items from that line
AC Cleanup Liquid Patch (5 ml)- 11,000 KRW
Iām really really interested in this one. Itās kinda like one of those pimple patches that you put on to protect those pimples from pre-mature popping. They say this is almost invisible and is okay to put under base makeup ^^
AC Cleanup Mild BB Cushion- 15,000 KRW
Another addition to Etude Houseās cushion line
Real Powder Cushion- 15,000 KRW
Another cute collaboration ^^

Hello guys! Summer is here and we find ourselves almost burning in the hot sun. Most of us are becoming concerned with our makeup completely coming off about an hour or two as well as having too much sweat, with our hair sticking to our scalps due to the grease. Most of us are also becoming concerned of becoming darker or having sunburn. However, do you know that the harsh sun rays can also penetrate the skin and cause long term damage? (Be sure to wear a good sunblock everyone!)
Today, Iāve partnered up with Skincell.ph, a reputable aesthetics center in the Philippines with derma clinics in the key cities of Metro Manila, to share this infographic to all of you ^^
PS. The infographic might contain some graphic images. So if youāre kinda queasy with things like those, youāve been warned!
Read on to find out more!
We might not realize it, but itās not really our age that solely contributes to the aging Ā of our skin. In fact, the number one enemy of our skin is the sunās UV rays--which is why skin experts always emphasize the importance of wearing sunscreen daily.
Aside from aging, too much exposure under the sun also leads to more skin damages. The sunās UV rays are at its peak between 10am - 4pm, hence the time when our skin is most susceptible to damage and even diseases. Moreover, reflective surfaces such as water and concrete also do harm, as it bounces off the sunlight onto our skin.Ā
But this doesnāt mean we should never take pleasure in the dayās lovely warmth--a little caution and some preventive measures will allow you to enjoy the sunshine without dealing with the sunās harmful damages. Especially for a tropical country where sunlight shines directly and more often, itās highly recommended that we put on sunscreen Ā and wear protective clothing to shield our skin from the sunās harmful rays.

Iām finally done with my thesis and back with another review after being MIA for almost three months! Today I will be reviewing a product which Iāve been constantly using since I got it (which is almost six months ago). Well, Scinic has been an unknown brand to me before I got this and I was kinda skeptical about this ampoule. However, I decided to try it out for since its super affordable considering the amount of product that i get.
Description: āSnail secretion filtrate, peptide and aloe vera leaf juice contained
-Skin + Lotion + Essence at once with this ampoule.
-Skin firming + Whitening + Moisturizing + Wrinkle care
-Skin protection and skin texture careā
source: jolse.com
Capacity: 250 ml
Price: 720 php/ 15.46 USD/ 15,460 KRW (shipped from Korea)
Curious of how it worked on my skin? Read on to find out ^^
Packaging:
First of all, I would like all of you to know that this comes with a plastic spatula
Scinic, you made me so so happy <3. This prevents me from contaminating the product with germs from my hands. Ah! Did I mention how nice the bottle is? I thought it was glass but I was wrong. Itās made of plastic. So nice ^^ I brought this with me when I travel and I donāt have to worry about it breaking ^^ Plus, plastic is lighter than glass too ^^ It lessens the weight of my bag ^^
Score: 5/5
Price:
I paid only 720 php is really cheap for 250 ml of ampoule. I donāt think I need to elaborate further on that. Hahaha :)
Score: 5/5
Texture and Feel:
I love the way this feels on my skin. Itās a little mucin-y like snail products should be but itās very light and easy to spread into the skin. It doesnāt feel gross. Hmmm... How should I put it... Itās kinda like putting a more mucin-y version of Nature Republicās Aloe Vera gel onto your skin. Itās really hard to explain but I think you will understand what I mean when you see the pictures from Scinic shown below.
See~ Really this is just like NRās Aloe Vera gel but not that runny when it touches your skin.
Ah! This is a tip for all of you ^^ Put this in the refrigerator and it will immediately cool down the skin and reduce redness on a hot day <3
Score: 5/5
Scent:
This have a very faint fresh floral scent. Again, this kinda reminds me of NRās Aloe Vera gel.
Effectivity:
Before anything, I would like to remind you that an all in one ampoule is different from an essence. Essences are supposed to be the āvitaminā of your skincare regimen while all-in-one ampoules are meant to cut down your skincare steps.
Although the effects of all-in-one ampoules are much much milder than that of essences, it allows me to skip putting on toner, face mask, essence and emulsion on a lazy day or when Iām just in a hurry to leave the house. This also allows me to avoid having too much skincare on my skin before putting on my daily base makeup. Thus, making it adhere longer in my skin.
Since I have very dry skin, still lopt to put on toner before this and a very very light gel type moisturizer after to help me retain more moisture in my skin. In a sense, this gives my skincare routine an extra boost of moisture. Since this contains snail mucus, I feel like it helps in healing my skin. (When I get rashes and other irritations from previous products I used, this also help in relieving those problems).
Since I was comparing this earlier to Aloe Vera gel, some of you might think that this might be a more expensive version of the product. However, I really do think that this felt like it brings more moisture into my skin rather than just sitting on top of my skin. So I really like this better than NRās Aloe Vera gel. However, I wonāt stop purchasing the NR one since, I like to use this on my face and the Aloe Vera gel as an all-rounder for my body ^^
As of the whitening and wrinkle care, I donāt see much difference. Take note that I do have very white skin, have no problem with pigmentation since Iām not acne prone and love my sunscreens and Iām still 21 years old now. Clearly, I donāt have much problem in those areas yet.
I want to take a little break from doing reviews for a little while since a) doing reviews is expensive (since I need to purchase new products often to review things), b) Iām still trying a shit-ton of products and c) Iām still the a process of saving for a new camera for my face swatches. So Iām trying to add new content like this to mix up my monotonous post feed.
For those who would like to start learning korean-style makeup or want to start learning about Korean cosmetic brands other than Etude House, finding Youtube gurus can be a pain in the ass. (Escpecially if you canāt understand Korean). Here are some of my favorite Korean beauty Youtubers :) There will will be lots more that I will recommend in the future.
1. Pony
Park HyeMin aka Pony is a former ulzzang and is hands down my favorite beauty Youtuber. Sheās funny and her makeup tips are really helpful. I also like that I can she her hitting pan on some of her makeup which means that she really likes the products that she use in her videos. The best thing I like about her is that she always always put english subtitles on her videos. Wait. Did I mention that she has already published several books on makeup and she is 2NE1 CLās makeup artist since the Hello Bitches era?
She has videos posted in three channels: InsiteTV (when her show Ponyās Makeup Diary is still running), PONY MAKEUP (her own personal channel) and Official PONY EFFECT (official channel for her own makeup line. Yes! She even has her own makeup line!)
Here is some of my favorite videos from her ^^
2. Ssin
Ssin-nim is a baeuty Youtuber who transforms! She is very frank about her reviews on products and her videos are always high quality. She specializes more in copying makeup from idols (boy or girl) She deals more with androgynous makeup so I think even guys will like her. However, she may be a snob to Korean brands. Sheās has just started a one brand makeup tutorial using Korean roadshop brands and is providing mini reviews of the products ^^ Do check her out in her channel ssin ģ¬ė
Thatās it for now! Iāll be back with others in the next part ^^
Today I will be reviewing a very affordable product from the local Philippine market. I though it will be a nice change for once since Iāve been reviewing a whole lot of Korean products since Iāve started blogging. Iāve been a total snob to Philippine product since I find the quality was not up to par with international products. Well, this one product totally changed my mind.
I have been using this for almost a month now as a contour shade. This is in Mahogany Brown.
Description: A collection of matte and shimmery eyeshadow colors with perfectly smooth finish. Each eyeshadow can be easily detached and āsnappedā on FS Quad Palette for your own customized eyeshadow set.Ā
Capacity: 4g
Price: 225 Php/ 4.78 USD/ 4,780 KRW
Read on to know more ^^
Packaging:
The packaging has a neat and elegant feel to it and reminds me of Misshaās single eyeshadows. The plastic casing feels sturdy and didnāt break off when I accidentally dropped it. Hell, the shadow didnāt even break! The item is encased on a single black box to prevent scratches while shipping. I liked the fact that they made an effort on making a box for the actual product since I sincerely hate it when a product is already scratched even before I buy it.
Oh! did I mention that like Korean eyeshadows, you can also buy a palette, pop the shadows from the case and put them in there to make a quad?
Score: 5/5
Price:
Letās face it. 225 Php for a single eyeshadow is kinda pricy for something from a local Philippine brand (Philippine single eyeshadows usually costs more or less than 150 Php). However, this contains twice as much of the more affordable options not to mention that the quality isnāt chalky.
Score: 5/5
Swatched on hand, one swipe
Color:
Mahogany Brown is an entirely matte cool brown color. I mainly use this to contour the sides of my face to create dimension. Some of you might be wondering why I use this very dark color on my ultra light skin right? Well, this is a medium intensity matte cool brown color which Iām always always in a hunt for since this can be used for contouring light to medium-dark skin tones. The medium intensity makes it blendable (with the right technique and product amount of course) even for those with very light skin like me. I just use one swipe of this on my brush for each part of my cheek and build up the intensity if I feel like I need more.
I also use this to contour the nose of my medium to dark skin clients as well as a contour shade for the eyes.
Score: 5/5
Oops... Didnāt clean the pan before taking a photo... sorry
Texture and Feel:
As you can see in the picture of the pan above this shadow is a little grainy and not as smooth as my favorite Etude House matte eyeshadows (that Iāve featured on my February Favorites post here and reviewed here) However, it doesnāt bother me much since I pick up this product with a brush. Since the quality is not that smooth, please be careful when picking up the product with your hands. Make sure theyāre clean and have zero oil. That would prevent the product from caking up.
Another note, this didnāt irritate my sensitive lids when I used it there. ^^
Score: 4/5
Scent:
Has a reaaaaally reaaaaally faint scent of powder. Wouldnāt even notice it if it wasnāt for the purpose of this review.
Effectivity/ Lasting Power:
This actually lasted me a long time considering that I sweat a lot.. Didnāt come off with the sweat. Very good product indeed ^^
Score: 5/5
Total Score: 4.8/5 Totally recommend this one if youāre just starting makeup. This i a very multi-purpose product for me and Iām looking forward to having more shades. If I can save up more money...
Hello ^^ A couple of days ago, Iāve posted a picture of my February Favorites (below) in my Instagram account. If you havenāt followed me there yet, my id is jieunieinabottle ^^
Some of you may have recognized some stuff in here as I already reviewed them for you :) I will be providing mini reviews as well as links to my in depth reviews for the products above. Take not that I wonāt be posting the prices since I have already forgotten them.
Read on to know more ^^
ELF Stipple Brush
I use this my favorite powder highlighter since it picks just the right amount for my face. I think this is already around two years old and this never went stiff like other brushes. Doesnāt scratch my base makeup off ^^
Etude House Look at My Eyes Palette Case and Look at My Eyes Cafe (matte) Eyeshadows
I have bought the eyeshadows and palette separately and just placed my favorite shades in the case. Etude House also sells a palette for just four eyeshadows but I bought this version which can contain eight. It has a really good mirror which I love using :) All shadows are from the brandās Cafe range.
For an in depth review of some of the shades, go here ^^
Top row from left to right:
PK004 (Deep Berry Soda): A burgundy shade i like to use when Iām doing a makeup look with a vampire-ish feel
BR403 (Caramel Latte): A yellow toned brown and is probably one of Etudeās most famous eyeshadows. A lot of beauty bloggers and youtubers like this shade and is a great eyeshadow for lazy days.
BR 404 (Chocolate Latte): A very very pigmented dark brown. I use this to deepen my eyes when it looks swollen as well as an shadow for my hair when I pull my hair up ^^
Bottom row from left to right:
PK003 (Berry Berry Soda): A hot pink shade. I mainly use this as a blush and a tiny amount goes a long long way.
PP 502 (Blueberry Latte): A gorgeous lilac color. I use this as a blush since I couldnāt find much lilac blushes.
BR406 (Ginger Milk Tea): A very light cool toned brown. I use this to contour the sides of my nose since it looks so natural on my skin. I also use this as an eye contour shade when I cannot find my Maybelline shadow pot.
PP 501 (Sweet Potato Latte): A cool toned light purple color I add this to any warm toned face contour shade to cool it up and make it look natural.
Lāoreal True Match Liquid Foundation
This one reaaaally reaaally matches my skintone so I tend to reach for it more than any of my other bases. I reviewed this in here.
The Face Shop Face It Perfect BB Cream
This is a really old BB cream of mine and Iām in the process of finishing it up. Works great on days when I have minor blemishes since it has a very natural coverage.
Etude House My Beauty Tool Secret Brush 130 for Contour
I use this with BR406 to contour my nose and makes nose contouring a whole lot easier for me. I have reviewed this in here.
Peripera Periās Ink
This stays all day on my lips even when I eat and the color are so pretty ^^ For a more in depth review, click here. Iām on my way to buy the other colors and update the review for you next time.
The Face Shop Lovely Me:ex Design My Eyebrow
I have this in 01 Gray Brown and this is the only budget friendly eyebrow product Iāve ever liked since I started defining my eyebrows ^^
ELF Powder Brush
This is a flat top brush and is like a kabuki brush with a long handle. I use this for putting on blushes. (especially with my Etude House eyeshadows that I use as blushes)
Scinic Snail All In One Ampoule
This is a budget friendly miracle worker for my skin especially on those lazy days where I donāt want to put much at night. I will be reviewing this soon :)
Lāoreal Base Magique
Makes my skin ready for base makeup. This smooths out fine lines and felt like it holds on to the makeup. This is my Holy Grail primer.
Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow Pot in 80 Creamy Beige
A cool toned brown color I use on my eyelids. Doesnāt crease or smudge. I will be reviewing this soon.
Stila Smudge Pot in Kitten
I use this so much that I have already erased the writings on the pot. I use this on my inner corners. Iām planning to find a budget friendly dupe for this one since this is kinda old and since this product is from a high end brand... The price is a little too much for me if my parents wonāt buy me another one.
Etude House Face Designing Brightener in Wannabe Face
This is hands down the most natural highlighter Iāve ever used! I use this with ELFās Stipple Brush. As you can see, I have already hit pan and Iām planning to buy a new one to review for you guys since this version I have is from before they renewed the packaging.
Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher
I have this in #6 Grapefruit Jelly since makeup artist pony loves it so much ^^ I ended up loving it as well since it looks very natural on the skin. I honestly donāt use the puff and instead use my ELF powder brush.
FS Figures & Shades Single Eyeshadow in Mahogany Brown
I believe this is the best Philippine drugstore find ever. It is the perfect contouring shade for the sides of my face and is highly blendable. I will be reviewing this next week so keep your eyes peeled ^^
This is probably one of the most famous lip tint in Korea right now! Iāve seen a lot of Korean bloggers use and review this and I thought āWhy not try it out?ā I got three shades in total (for now), #1 It Lips, #2 Get The Eye and #3 No Way!.
Description:
ā- Feel the impact of Lip stick's vivid color and gloss's long wearing in lip ink.
- Hyper-saturated color and vivid color helps lips to be more shinning and sheer.
- Good fitting lip makeup
- Tatoo like longwear colorā
Capacity: 8g
Price: 550 Php/ 11.57 USD/ 11,570 KRW
Read on to know more ^^
Packaging:
I have a love-hate relation with the packaging. I love it because of the plastic handle that looks like a dropper tool. I find it clever that they decided to go with the ink theme in the packaging as well since itās so unique looking. I also like the fact that the bottle and the box is the same color as the tint inside, since I really hate it when I have to look at the bottom of the bottle just to read what color it is.
It also has a very unique applicator. The applicator is a flat doe foot applicator. It is wide on two sides and thin on the others which I feel helps in getting just the right amount of product. (PS. The wide side is shown in the picture below)
The flat doe-foot applicator does not in anyway help the application since Koreans mostly just do gradient lips and do not need to define their lip lines. However, this do not bother me at all since I never color my lips fully anyway.
The reason why I hate the packaging is because I cannot see how much product I still have inside but I feel that the ink may look cheap if they decide to make it see-through so i guess Iām kinda fine with it.
Score: 4.25/5
Price:
I do not find the tint cheap or expensive but I find it a reasonable price for 8g. Some tints only have 4g for the same price.
Score: 4.5/5
Swatches on hand (Do not dare to try this. This tint is hard to remove on the skin of your hands!!!)
Wiped off after one minute
Color:
As you can see on the hand swatches, the colors look similar to one another. However, they would look a little different when swatched on the lips. Take note that the lip swatches below are done in a gradient style so the colors will be more powerful when you put the product in full intensity.
#1 It Lips is a very cool toned violet-pink
If you compare it to #2 Get The Eye, this definitely has a more violet-ish tinge to it. I highly recommend this to people with cool skin tones as this color gives me an instant brightening effect on lazy days where I only want to put lip color on.
#2 Get The Eye is a neutral toned pink
This is a āmy lips but betterā color on me. I use this on days where I want an overall innocent feel on my makeup. I applied this lightly on the day I took the picture. This will look good on both cool and warm skin.
#3 No Way! is a natural looking grapefruit color
In my opinion, I liked this color the best in my skin as I mainly use yellow toned foundations. The color is a warm red-orange mixed with a little pink. This will be good on both cool and warm skin tones.
Score: 5/5
Texture and Feel:
This tint is like an very very saturated water tint in consistency and is not heavy on the lips. Only use this in moisturized lips. Since this is a very long lasting tint, this dries my lips so badly on the first time I wore it. So, on the second time, I had put on a heavy moisturizer on my lips to prevent the drying since I think that lip balms would prevent the tint from sinking on to my lips and prevent its long-lasting capabilities. The tint worked well and my lips didnāt become as dry as the Sahara desert.
Score:3.75/5
Scent:
It has peach scent to it and I totally love it! Be careful while smelling the product though, I got this on the tip of my nose while smelling it and I had the stain on my nose for the whole day!
Effectivity/ Lasting Power:
This is probably the most long-lasting tint that Iāve ever tried! True to its ātatoo-like staying powerā claim, this stays on my lips for a very long time! In addition to the incident mentioned above, I also had this on the day I ate on a buffet with my friends. Ate a ginormous amount of food and my ultimate testĀ for tints, soda. Maybe it had faded a little bit but itās just a tiny tiny bit. Not very noticeable.
I have no problem removing the tint on my lips since I do a double cleansing technique at night. A cleansing cream first then a cleansing foam with a really gentle pore brush. I just include my lips when I cleanse and the tint is gone. I donāt know why some people had a hard time removing this.
Score:5/5
Total Score: 4.5/5 I definitely recommend this and Iām on my way to buy the two other colors in the line!
This review was requested by a friend of mine after seeing my Instagram post last month. (Hi Priscilla unnie! <3) I have this in G1 Gold Ivory and I want to share my opinions about this foundation after using it for a month.

Packaging:
The bottle is simple and sleek looking like most of Lāorealās products. Since it caters to a more grown up market like its high-end sisters, Lancome and Yves Saint Laurent (YSL), its not a surprise to me that the foundation will be encased on a classy glass bottle. The pump releases a reasonable amount of product for my daily usage since a whole pump can cover my face and neck in two light layers of the foundation.
The pump cap cannot be removed and therefore, finishing all of the product inside will be totally impossible to do which I hate since this foundation is kind of in a higher price than what I am originally used to.
I like getting Lāoreal products where I can see Japanese writing. Itās not because Iām a Japan junkie (maybe I am) but itās because that I noticed that Japan release foundations from drugstore brands are very tend to be very compatible with my skin.
Score: 3.75/5
Price:
The foundation is in the middle of cheap and expensive for me since it has a higher price than Maybelline foundations and lower price than Revlonās. Itās kinda pricey for a university student like me. However, wait for Lāorealās sale then I get it. Then it feels very worth it by then.
Score: 4.5/5
One whole pump
Color:
My skin is basically pale as f*ck when photographed as seen in my past reviews and itās not makeup. Even my hands become super white when I take photos (proof is in my last review in here). I need a foundation that is really light with yellow undertones to match my neutral-yellow undertone skin so I decided to go for G1 Gold Ivory which is their lightest yellow based shade. I initially feared that it might be a shade dark for my skin since a lot of western brands do not carry a really pale shade but it does match my skin pretty well as seen on the picture below. (Again sorry for the low quality resolution since pictures of my face or any parts of my face are taken on my phoneās front camera)
You can clearly see that the foundation really matched my color ^^ Since this is an Asian release of the foundation, I think the company had put really light shades since most East Asians have extremely pale skin ^^ Iām so happy!
Score: 5/5
Texture and Feel:
I only own three foundations at the moment since I mostly use BB creams for its practicality. Therefore, I cannot make much comparisons. But I noticed that this foundation is has the lightest formula (formula, not coverage) amongst my foundations. Itās formula kinda resembles a mid-consistency BB cream but it has a coverage of a medium cover foundation.
It didnāt irritate my skin which is really nice since Iāve tried foundations from Western and Philippine brands that did and itās always a waste when I buy something that I canāt really use.
Score: 5/5
Scent:
It has a really really faint scent of powder. I didnāt even notice it before until now that I tried to smell the product through the hole of the pump.
Effectivity/ Lasting Power:Ā
I have really really bad case of redness on my skin recently and two layers of this foundation on my face helps cover that up. Iām surprised since it has a consistency of a not-so-thick BB cream. I can say that the coverage is medium but itās definitely buildable. It also doesnāt settle into fine lines or budge when I set it with powder. (I just use Johnsonās baby powder)
I can say that the finish is satin, in the middle of matte and dewy, which provides a more natural finish than my other two foundations.
Picture after a whole day. No powder touch ups. (Q: Whatās with the mole? You have no mole near your eyes on the last picture. A: This was taken on a different day but I can guarantee you that this was taken around at least 8 hours after wearing the foundation)
You can see that at the end of my day, the foundation stayed put and managed to the redness of my skin. Though, on some days that I didnāt manage to set my face well with powder or if its too hot, I see lines where I smile a lot. No big deal though, I see that all of my foundations and BB creams have this defect. Maybe itās because I smile a lot.
Score: 4.75/5
Total Score: 4.6/5 This is my my favorite foundation so far :) I use religiously on days where my skin looks redder than normal. I totally recommend it.
