The Percy Jackson TV Show: What We Know and What We Can Expect

The show will be on Disney+ and live action.
Season 1 will cover book 1, The Lightning Thief.
Rick Riordan and Becky Riordan are heavily part of the process and will be for every step of the way.
There have been no castings, no auditions, and no casting calls. However, it does seem that when the time comes, they will be looking for child actors that are the right ages for the characters.
Changes are being made based on what “were not good decisions or have not aged well” in The Lightning Thief.
They plan to have a lot of representation.
The series is being overseen by Mythomagic, Inc., Rick and Becky Riordan’s production company.
Rick and Becky are helping to write the script, and they completed and submitted the first draft of the pilot episode to the studio executives, which they loved and gave some notes on.
Just before the winter holidays, they submitted a revised version the pilot script.
Once the pilot is approved, then the show can be officially green-lit and the pre-production process can begin
Rick’s most optimistic guess for when the series will air is 2022
Disney+ will be available worldwide by the time the show is released

What We Can Expect/Predict
Since most original Disney+ shows fall in the 6-10 episode range per season, we can estimate a similar number for Percy Jackson.
Budget wise, Disney+ has shelled out $15 million to $25 million per episode for shows like The Mandalorian and the upcoming MCU shows. This is about the budget of the episodes for the final season of Game of Thrones. While we don’t know the amount they will give for Percy Jackson, this can put into perspective possible budget options, as well as the way this budget translates to things such as sets and levels of special effects in the final product. Also, since rumors are flying around about the budget, I just want to clarify that these are just rumors and they don’t have an official budget yet as it is too early for that, as clarified by Becky Riordan.
A more faithful adaptation than the movies. No matter how it turns out, it should be more in-line with the books considering that the author is on board (when he wasn’t with the movies) and the fact that they seem to be taking the fans’ opinions into consideration.
