I just put up a new blog post on TheDemocraticTravelers.com, and I'm sad to say it will be our last. TL;DR I accepted a job offer in Silicon Valley, which means it's time to end this amazing experiment in travel. After 2.5 years on the road, having met so many amazing people and seen so many amazing things, we're putting the project to rest and settling down in the Bay Area. We'll still be living in the Airstream though, and will absolutely be taking advantage of all the incredible adventures that lie just a few hours outside of town. At long last, during my #funemployment, I found some time to finally mount the #solar panels on the roof! For some reason I had been afraid to finish the project up, but between fabricating the swiveling mounting brackets (to handle the curve of the roof), finding a placement on the roof where the brackets just happen to line up with the structural ribs of the trailer, drilling, riveting, and sealing the panels down, and connecting them up to the wiring I installed a while back, I was able to finish the whole project in an afternoon. #solarpower #offthegrid #renewableenergy #diy #project #airstream #airstreamlife #liveriveted #moochdocking
