How I would write the Dexter Series climax, so far.
I don't believe Vogel is as sentimental towards Dexter as she is leading on. What is the one thing that will absolutely throw Dexter off the path of perfection she had already set him on? Deb.
I don't usually write theories to shows down, but I love this show too much to not have long intricate theories in my head. Here is a long-winded version of how I think part of the Finale might go down. This doesn't happen RIGHT at the end, but I believe it will be the climax. Whatever happens to Dexter is fine with me, but I would like to see something like...
Brain surgeon kidnaps Deb after finding out Dexter is helping Vogel track him down.
Vogel tells Dexter she found the location of Brain Surgeon. Vogel manipulates Dexter to go to a predetermined location. Dexter in full kill suit and syringe and walks into the building. Turns the lights on and the camera pans around the room with the pictures of each person hes killed.
You see dexter confused, looking around to all the familiar faces on the walls. His focus changes from the walls to something else in the room and his expression changes immediately to shocked grief.
The camera focuses on Dexters face, mainly his brow expression, then follows the pictures on the walls in a circle before coming back to where Dexter stands. The scene is blurry, but the familiar look of a kill table lies in front of him. The view then slowly creeps up the table. Dexter's knives are spread out on the side of the body. The face is revealed. It is Deb.
She looks unconscious. The lighting from the back of the room casts a shadow over Deb and the voice of Vogel can be heard. "Hello Dexter." The camera shows her sitting at the foot of the table at the other side of the room, and Debs face can be seen on the bottom of the screen just under Vogels blank expression.
Vogel then goes on to explain about how Dexter was not what she thought he was when she first learned of him. He did not show the signs of a psychopath and she felt as though she was a failure of her craft. She could see that even though she thought she conditioned Dexter perfectly and did everything she could for Harry, Dexter was weak and easily led astray just like the others.
Dexter is trying to hold in his rage while this monologue happens. He sneaks in a few aggressive "Let her go." and "You better not touch her."
Vogel ignores these threats and continues her speech.
She says, "But the perfection can still be maintained. There is still an answer."
All the while, Dexter retorts with confused questions.
"Why Deb?" "What are you plans for her?"
Vogel replies, "Plans? I thought you were smarter than this. How are we going to maintain and achieve the perfection you and I have been striving for your whole life? We are both looking for the world to be a better place, and it can not happen when you are being corrupted by unnecessary feelings...
I plan to remove this corruption from your life."
The camera switches to a view behind Vogel, so that Dexter can be seen across the table with Deb just on the bottom of the screen. Vogel stands up and walks to the side of the table.
"But I can not do this job myself. It will cause unwanted repercussions for both of us. This is your battle." She takes a knife from the side of the table and lays it on Deb's chest.
Dexter looks shocked. "This is insane. This won't help anything. There has to be another way. You're diagnosis has to be wrong. I love her. I love Deb. If I were this perfect specimen you claim I am, then I would not have these feelings. I am not the monster. You are. You created this, and you manipulated Harry to make me your sick experiment."
Dexter runs towards Vogel with the syringe in hand, "I told you that Deb was not a problem. You should have never touched her."
He pushes her up next to the door he entered the room from and looks in her eyes.
"You've broken your code."
Dexter plunges the syringe into her neck. Dexter is staring at Vogels shocked face in satisfaction as he sneers and says, "I'll deal with you in a minute."
Dexter slowly lowers Vogel to the ground.
He steps to the side of the table in a panic. He screams, "Deb wake up. Come on we have to get out of here."
He grabs her arm and shakes her. There is no response. He slaps her cheek a couple times still trying to wake her and nothing.
He grabs a knife from the table and starts cutting the plastic wrap. After he removes the plastic wrap he says, "It's going to be ok Deb. I've got you." He slides his arms under her to pick her up and carry her to safety.
He lifts her and turns to bring her out of the doorway. Debs head falls back from being lifted and a splat is heard. Dexter looks down, the camera pans to the floor below Deb. The back of Deb's skull and a chunk of her brain lay there on the floor. Without hesitation Dexter places Deb on the ground and rushes toward Vogel.
He places her on the table and says something bad ass that I'll leave to the writers. Then he plunges the knife multiple times into Vogels chest. Blood sprays everywhere while the scene is turned to slow motion and a meloncholy acoustic song, or ironic piano jazz song is played with the camera cutting to different angles of Dexters malicious stabbing.
Dexter, covered in blood, finally composes himself and looks towards Deb. Blood pooling at the bottom of her head spread across the wooden floor. He sits beside her and grabs her hand and begins to cry.
Batista busts the door down to find Dexter sitting in his creators blood and sisters blood crying.
-------------------
I like when they tie origin to demise. He was found in what was his family and creators blood and his death is sealed in the same fashion. You can not escape who you are and what made you.
The ending can really go anyway for me from here. Batista can snap and kill Dexter on the spot. Or the scene can cut to Batista, Quinn and Masuka sitting in a room intently staring at the camera with a pretty deep and intense overdub of Dexter's voice. Then showing Dexter on the "Lethal Injection" table.
