The Tooth Worm as Hell’s Demon.

 Ivory carving created in the 18th century by an unknown artist. The two halves open up to reveal a scene depicting the infernal torments of a toothache in the form a battle with the tooth worm; in days gone by, the tooth worm was believed to be the root cause, if you will, of toothaches.
