very skilled at having a headache
"No one remembered my birthday-" Well, but did YOU tell anyone it was coming up and you wanted to celebrate it with them?
"I wish someone would see through it when I tell people I'm fine-" Well, but have YOU considered not lying when people ask you how you're doing?
"I am so resentful of my friend because they keep doing this thing that really bothers me-" Well, but have YOU directly communicated that the thing is bothering you?
"I am burning out because my friend keeps expecting me to help them with serious struggles-" Well, but have YOU tried to establish the boundaries you need to feel okay?
"No one ever asks me about this thing I really care about-" Well, but have YOU brought it up yourself?
"I miss my friend but they haven't texted me-" Well, but have YOU been reaching out to them?
Sometimes people are mean, uncaring assholes, in which case you get to be mad. But sometimes you just need to communicate better. Try communication before you assume someone doesn't care!
Having someone who knows you on such a deep level that they see past your mask, or sense you need a check in is such a deep satisfying fantasy. It's up there with living in a cottagecore farm, or buying all your friends houses when you win the lottery. But you have to make peace with the fact that this is also a fantasy. It is unfair to expect people to "just know" when to respect your boundaries or to push them.
Being cared for is not a fantasy. But you have to let people know you need it. And you have to understand that sometimes they will let you down. Just like you totally could live in a cute farm, but you still have to shovel shit, and the crops sometimes die anyway. Or maybe you win the lottery, but you still have to manage your money and learn real estate law.
The fantasy isn't the caring, the fantasy is not having to do the work. And it sucks. It's embarrassing. But like the meme says, it's not rotten if it's YOU. So do it for yourself.
"The fantasy isn't the caring, the fantasy is not having to do the work"! Thank you for that addition. Because it's not a naive expectation to want someone to care to treat you right. But it requires communication and mutual effort to actually get there
at this time of year you might be tempted to create new rules for yourself, if you do, make sure that they are designed to serve you, not to punish yourself for imperfection.
I would love to try running. Even when i was little i couldn't run fast. I blamed my height. As a grown adult i am 5'0". I'm 26 now and i never think it's too late to try. What are some suggestions you have to get started?
Start very small and take your body seriously if it starts complaining. Running is brutal on the body in a way few kinds of commonly accessible exercise are, and many people who push themselves to run a lot fast end up burning themselves out fast or getting injured before their body has a chance of adjusting.
When I started running, I ran just 900 meters at a time, and if I had aimed for more during the first couple of months I wouldn't still be running. Even if it feels silly to run just 3 or 5 minutes and then call it a day, that's how you start if you've never really run before (if you don't do intervals, as in walk a couple minutes and then run a couple minutes and then walk a couple minutes etc, which I didn't, but that's another common way to get into it safely that lots of people prefer).
Another thing that's important to keep in mind is that you actually shouldn't run every day. Even if you "only" run 900 meters (or less!) like I did at first, your body still needs time to recover in-between if this is a type of exercise it isn't used to, and lots of people get injured because they don't realize that running every day is far more damaging to the body than never doing it. I'm still not running more than 2-3 times a week at my best, and it would still be dangerous for me to aim to do so.
You also need to keep a watchful eye on your body's complaints. Some muscle soreness is to be expected, but especially if your joints start hurting, you need to slow down and give them time to adjust to the exercise, and maybe wear supportive gear - you don't just power through it, cause that's how you injure yourself. As I said it's very easy to accidentally injury yourself through running. Just pushing through is dangerous.
Running might be simple as a concept but it is quite hard on the body, and for me the key to getting into it was respecting that. Lots of people who run will say that anyone can run 5KM or whatever, but that wasn't my reality, and I wouldn't have been able to do that, nor would I ever have grown to enjoy running and actually do it regularly if I had started out by beating myself up that I couldn't run a 5k and then injuring my knee.
You say you can't run fast - and the thing is you shouldn't aim to, especially not at first, nor does it really matter if you ever can. Most people recommend that you start out by jogging, as running is a brand new massive strain on your body which it needs time to adjust to. And many people plain shouldn't run at all - though I assume you aren't in this category since you sent me this ask, I just want to spell out there there is no shame in it if running isn't right for your body like, at all.
The good thing about running and the reason I chose it is that if you aren't used to doing it, literally any amount of doing it will have an effect. You don't have to run very far or for very long for it to have an effect on your cardio or your muscles, and for me the fact that I could literally just run for 5 minutes a couple times a week and still gain an effect from it made it a lot easier to take up than exercise routines that might do the same but would instead take 20 minutes to an hour. But this is also the reason why you have to be careful about how you do it.
okay yeah and lecturing people about what they should be capable of is definitely going to make them all collectively decide to change a behavior that has become super common for many structural reasons

I have talked about this before but you do not have to "grow out" of alt fashion styles or having a unique style. Goth, punk, lolita, scene, grunge, etc are not just for teens and young adults. You do not have to give up the clothes that make you happy just because you're growing up, especially since growing up often means that you actually have the income to get all the dream outfits that you've wanted since you were 13.
There are 60 year old goths dying their hair black and tiny old ladies in sweet lolita and senior punks wearing the same leather jackets they've had for decades.
Your employers can control what you wear at work to an extent but your clothes outside of work are for YOU and no one else.
I’ll reminisce but I’ll never go back.
Someone: This harmful or unethical thing is not good to do.
Me: I agree and appreciate your saying so.
Someone: It's unhealthy. It's psychotic behavior. People who do it are emotionally unbalanced. They're unwell. They're unhealed. They have childhood attachment issues. They need therapy.

too much monogamy in fandom in general
as we all know, everyone falls in love once and only once with their one true love the first time, and if they had relationships before that they weren’t real and didn’t love each other, and you can’t love more than one person at once, and your friends and family need to be pushed out of the picture to focus more on your romance, and no one has sex with people they don’t love, and if they did, they’re dirty and they have to have hated it and the sex they have with their one true love after they’re officially together has to be better sex than they ever had before, and no one ever breaks up for any reason other than death, and everyone wants to get married and have kids. aren’t you fucking tired.
I SAID AREN’T YOU FUCKING TIRED
i love 'bumfuck' as an intensifier
Middle of bumfuck nowhere....... cus Yeah we're really lost... anal sex style 😞
said this as part of a larger point in a reblog but I'm gonna make it its own post:
humans have the right to do things that are mildly bad for us sometimes.
you have the right to eat way too many pierogi and make yourself a little sick. you have the right to go skydiving. you have the right to pull an all-nighter building the Imperial City of Tamriel in Minecraft. you have the right to get drunk in your living room watching football.
life is not about making the safest most logically correct choice at all times. you're a blob of salty meat piloting a flesh mech and you get to act like it.
This includes disabled people.
It's called "the dignity of risk" and everyone is entitled to it.
This includes addicts!!!
