Assignment final work - part 2
Assignment 3 Final work
Assigment 3 final work statement-- impression
For this assignment I have focused on the idea of “Erasure”. I decided to redo what Robert Rauschenberg did, to erase my own drawing. My work “ Friends” is about how time weaken the relationship between one another, it is heart-broken that some of our close friend just leave us without any reason, they just disappear from our life. We may still remember them, but the impression is not as clear as the past, just like a blur. At first I can’t really think of any new content to add in, since I didn’t want to copy his work. Later on when I was cleaning my bed room, I ve found a DIY calendar that I made with my friend. It is quite memorable to me.The reason we made it is because two of us (me and another girl ) are leaving for oversea study. That Calendar is a symbol of our friendship, since we have been 4 years friend. It has label everyone’s birthday, at the first year we really send “Happy birthday “ to each other. But in the second year we don’t even send message or communicated to each others at all. Everyone has their new life and new social circle. I tried to erase the faces on the calendar, but it was so hard to erase the printing. I spent for nearly two hours to finish it. This erasing action represent how the impression obscure, their faces are so indistinct to me now. After that I draw they faces and erase it.The reason I do that is because when we draw, an auto-correction which done by our memory will occur, we will correct the faces into the one we familiar with. After that I put the eraser’s crust into a box, the crust represent the past relationship we used to be with our friends, it just like crust that can be easily blow away. Through my work I want to evoke resonance among the audience, to remember the happy days you spent with your old friend. Do you still remember the friend you used to play with? Â
