A Great Idea Without Action is Still a Great Idea.

Look. A lot of people will tell you that ideas without action are worthless.

They mean well.

But here’s the deal. Now is finite. For some of us, ideas are infinite. There is truly no shortage of them. But guess what. Just because they are not in short supply for you and cannot be executed right now, does not make any of them any less valuable.

Whatever it is, it may be the most game changing game changer that ever changed the game. But if that baby chick isn’t ready to hatch yet, you don’t just throw out the egg. Or even more messy…crack it prematurely.

I’m not advocating procrastination. I’m advocating resource preservation.

So here is what you do. If you’ve got an idea, grab a blank sheet of paper. Actually, grab a few. And then, play the idea out. Really play it out. Dream extravagantly, and in great detail. What does it look like? Why does it exist? What is it called? What color is it? Who would be really good at it? Or a certain part of it? What is a good soundtrack song? What do you need for your first actionable step? Second? Fiftieth?

Write, draw, expound on everything that you can, right at that moment. Date it. Title it. Then, treat that baby like the valuable document that it is. File it in a specific idea file.

At some point, the right person, the right money, or the right resource will come along. And you’ll have this idea that can then be hatched. And will be a big. freaking. deal. But for now your resource is ideas. So don’t let anyone tell you it’s not important.
