Sam and Jack—Angel Wings AU

Basically in this AU angels have physical wings, though they usually keep them tucked into a pocket dimension. These wings are invisible to almost all people, but Sam has the ability to see them, for reasons unknown to him. Pure angels are made with their wings, and knowing how to fly. Jack, being half-angel, half-human, is a different story. He is not merely possessing a human vessel, he has his own human body and it has to grow the wings. This was a development Cas did not forsee, and Jack is almost crippled by the pain. Sam becomes his source of relief and comfort, as Sam tends Jack's wounds and learns how to soothe the aches and pains away. In the bloody, messy growing pains, Jack learns he can count on Sam to stand by him and take care of him. Although the wings grow so fast Jack can sometimes hear his bones creaking, they take several weeks to grow in fully, as they are quite large. During that time, Sam and Jack bond deeply, and even Dean softens toward the kid, though he gets sick of being accidentally smacked with Jack's wings, which he can't see, until Jack learns how to hide them in the pocket dimension.

This is kinda the vibes of those early days, when the roots of his wings are establishing themselves in Jack's shoulders, and there's a lot of blood and bandages, and Sam cutting holes in his flannel shirts for Jack to wear.

Jack's feathers come in the colour of a Kansas wheat field under the sun, with browner earthier undertones and speckles. 😊
