Smith and Daughter brunch or dinner is the greatest! The Mexican Hash is my pick for brunch. Costs about 16 clams. Very filling and anyone who loves potatoes and generous servings of guacamole will love this!

Lady Hester blueberry and lavender jam doughnut!! While not in Melbourne, I had to break the rules. This is the best doughnut I have ever had. At Mona Market Hobart.
Yak lasagne still the best for me.
Corner of Little Flinders and Russell Street. About 28 clams and a good Shiraz.
Caramelised Pork at Chin Chin. Definitely do it! Also, Butter Chicken is another to nourish yourself with. The Yum of Yums!
Denmark House in the CBD has the best hot dogs. The secret to this dog’s success is the pickle or gherkin mayo. Do it !
Admiral Cheng-Ho. Abbotsford.
Diverse menu. A lot of thought and love has gone into this menu. Friendly staff who love what they serve. Not too big but gets crowded. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Way Better Than Meat
I haven't blogged in ages despite still eating out. Been a bit slack.
While I'm not vego or a vegan I do love to leave out the meat every now and then. Well, I gave up beef.
So, last night I took a friend of mine out to dinner and we dined at Yong Green Food, which is on Brunswick Street, in Fitzroy.
I think I ate the best burger I've ever devoured. I didn't eat it that quick but the soy beef tasted better than meat. So flavoursome.
The variety of cuisine on the menu is fantastic. You can have Japanese, Thai, or diner style food. Feel like I could just keep going back and cruise through the entire menu.
I always discover things late but hey, good to get there eventually.
Za Za's authentic Carbonara in Richmond!
If you stop by Gypsy and Mosquito you must have the bluetongue lizard juice. It is the best juice I've ever had. Apple, blueberry and mint and crushed ice. On hot days this is the best!
Home made pikelets at Gypsy and Mosquito are so yummy and fresh. The best!
Salt and pepper squid a wild ride for your tongue @ Bamboo House, Melbourne CBD.
Chinese before jazz
Two things I love are Chinese food and jazz music. Somehow I think they go really well together.
I can't say I've had much Chinese in Melbourne apart from dumplings.
Saturday night we booked tickets to see a great performance "Murphy's Law" at Bennett's Lane for the Melbourne jazz festival.
I had a craving for Chinese food. It was raining, cold and I was in the mood for something salty and nourishing.
I text some friends for suggestions on good Chinese restaurants in Melbourne we could get a seat in late in the CBD. Despite their suggestions I decided we'd just wing it. This is not very ideal in Melbourne but off we went anyway.
We settled on Bamboo House.
Ok. The reason I am going to review this restaurant is really down to the food. The price is crazy expensive and the restaurant is a little up market in decor for my liking.
The food was outstanding. So, it bloody well should be with the price but it was sooooo delicious. We had the specials:
Salt and pepper squid - now they did the dish in corn flour instead of a heavy batter.
Asian greens
Fried rice
San Choy Bow
Here's the sting the dishes and our bottle of mineral water came to 88 clams. Just way to steep for me.
I also didn't really like the fact that you are served the rice in a bowl instead of serving yourself from a dish. So, you get exactly 2 cups of rice for $10.
However, I have been craving the salt and pepper squid though. I have to say it was probably the best salt and pepper dish I have ever had. The same goes for the Asian greens. All the food was fresh and hot. I really dislike it when you are served luke warm food..not here :>
If they offer the salt and pepper squid again, it's well worth consumption but be warned you won't have money left over for dessert lol.
Back to Jazz. I've given two random Melbourne jazz acts a whirl at Bennett's lane. I love it when you walk into a venue not knowing an act and you end up being transcended by midnight!
Is that Murphy's Law?
