Learning From the Past & Changing the Rules of the Future
Ripple Effect: How the Indiana State Fair Collapse Incident is Changing the Rules will begin at 3:15pm in Grand Floridian H. Many of us remember the August 13, 2011 collapse at the Indiana State Fair, which resulted in seven fatalities and dozens of injuries.
Since this tragic event, temporary structures have been under a new-found scrutiny, and we’ve been forced to address additional operational and structural considerations. Scott G. Nacheman, MSc.Eng., AIA, Vice President, Thornton Tomasetti and Charlie Fisher, Vice President, Witt Associates will present a summary of the State Fair incident and share lessons learned from the tragedy.
A whole new experience at VenueConnect! Dr. Valerie Young, an internationally known author, speaker and former marketing manager at a Fortune 200 company, joins us for the inaugural year of the Women in Leadership Program. Dr. Young will facilitate individual and small group exercises that delve deep into the self-imposed obstacles that plague many successful people – especially women.
We hope to see you at 3:00pm in Room 304/305.
