Since it is Friday...
As part of the Play For Japan initiative, people from all over the game industry are holding a series of auctions to raise money for the relief effort in Japan. 100% of the profit from these auctions is donated to the American Red Cross and their Japanese relief. Below, you can find the official Infinity Ward auctions:
Life-Size Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Ghost Statue
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Framed and Signed Poster
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition for Xbox 360
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Soap MacTavish 12” Statue
Every item has been autographed by the entire Infinity Ward team.
Netflix Confirms Original Series, Beginning of the End for TV?
So apparently Netflix has confirmed that they will be streaming an original series starring Kevin Spacey in 2012. "House of Cards" will be a "political thriller" but no other real details have been announced.
It's interesting to see how online technology is really starting to takeover our usual means of entertainment. With this big move by Netflix, will we start seeing more people ditching cable/satellite to watch their favorite shows and movies through online streaming services like Netflix?
If you haven't already given Netflix a try, head over to http://bit.ly/gOtiEs and click on "Start your 1 month free trial" at the top left hand corner.
So there was this article I read today trying to outline how working in Social Media isn't all fun and games... after seeing their breakdown of the "Hectic Schedule of a Social Media Manager" it just makes me wanna pursue this career even more:

First Person Super Mario by Freddie Wong (youtube) (twitter) - a Call of Duty treatment on Super Mario Brothers and it looks glorious.
Some more fun times that were had at Pax:East this past weekend in Boston... Don't let Dunkus fool you, he had Murk stand in my way at the start (Sleazy tactics)
BBM Coming to iPhone + Android?
So I read an article a few days ago from a pretty reputable source stating that RIM's Blackberry Messenger application will soon be coming out for the Android and eventually iOS platforms.
Anyone who owns a Blackberry knows how addicting BBM really is. I've wanted the iPhone 4 for the longest time, but haven't been able to let go of BBM and its convenience. Even though applications like Kik Messenger and Whatsapp are decent and available alternatives, having used all three I can definitely say that BBM tops them all.
I think I can finally get myself that iPhone I've been wanting... Now when will Steve Jobs announce the iPhone 5?
Capcom Doing Its Part to Help Japan
So Capcom has decided to drop the price of the popular iPhone game Street Fighter IV and donate all money made from sales of the game directly to public charities supporting people effected by the recent disaster in Japan:
CAPCOM as a Japanese gaming company, starting from Mar. 15th through Mar. 22nd we are going to drop the price of iPhone / iPod touch "Street Fighter IV" globally and donate all the sales to public charity.
-Capcom
So if you have an iPhone or an iPad and love gaming, pick-up Street Fighter IV and have some fun while helping out those in need.
Good job Capcom!
My Razer Onza: TE Has Arrived!
So I came home today to a lovely package containing the Razer Onza Tournament Edition that I pre-ordered a few months ago. I did a quick unboxing video and I plan to do a review in the coming days to let you all know whether or not this is worth the $49.99!
Okay... I'm gonna go play with this thing and you guys can check out the video here:
So there's been a lot of buzz surrounding Homefront, a new FPS developed by Kaos Studios and published by THQ. I'm trying to go into this game with an open mind and not let any of my pre-existing notions of what an FPS game is (Call of Duty) interfere with me enjoying this game for what it's worth.
I'll let you all know how I'm feeling about the game once I get the chance to play for a bit, but in the meantime enjoy this gameplay put together by IXISweat:
The Experience
PAX: East is an annual gaming convention held in Boston, MA and this year I was one of the many attendees. Being my first time hitting up a gaming convention (or a convention at all for that matter) it was more of a learning experience than anything else.
I finally got the chance to meet a lot of the dudes I've been interacting with for the past year and although we all went there with the same focus (networking, connections, learning about the industry), the trip ended up being more about enjoying time with each other and checking out some of our most anticipated games.
Now that I know what to expect out of an industry convention, when I hit up E3 I'll be there with a serious focus on expanding my network and figuring out what it takes to secure my dream job of working in the gaming industry with new media and community management.
In the meantime, enjoy some of the crazier moments from our trip to Boston:
