This week has been tough...

I had a surprise birthday party for my best friend on Saturday and ever since I have been slipping up left and right. I've eaten more fast food this week than I have in the last month & a half. I've missed a two workouts this week and I'm feeling very sluggish. I'm upset but I'm ready to get back on track. I need to focus and make sure I'm setting myself up for success by planning and prepping my meals, keeping a gym bag in my car, and wearing my knee brace more - even if it isn't hurting. I'm going to get back on track and KILL it the rest of the month.

The only victims of Islamic fundamentalist violence (which is spurred and caused by Western imperialism) that matter to the mainstream media are Westerners and non-Muslims, unless the narrative can be twisted to advance some white-washed imperialist agenda like they have attempted to do with Malala Yousufzai and #BringBackOurGirls. All of this is despite the fact that the vast majority of the victims of this Western-spured violence are Muslims. Even in the news about Charlie Hebdo you hear people memorializing the racist editors and barely talking about Ahmed Merabet, the Muslim security officer who was also killed in the attack. Americans only cared about ISIS (which they helped create) not after they butchered and massacred thousands of in Iraq and Syria, but after white journalists were executed too. And how much more are we hearing about the attack in Paris than the Taliban’s attack in Pakistan last month which killed more than 100 people?

The ruins of over 20 destroyed towns and villages in Borno state Nigeria are still smoldering as we speak and bodies continue to litter the streets. Thousands have been displaced in this attack and are still awaiting rescure, and over 300,000 have been displaced to date by Boko Haram. Their lives matter too, not just those of white French people.
