I explained the “x before gta6” meme to my immigrant father and he, in turn, explained to me how back in his day in Romania, they had the same type of joke, except instead of it being gta6, it was about the imminent death of a singer named Gică Petrescu, who everyone was continuously shocked by because he refused to die. Every time a momentous event happened people would say, in essence: “This happened and Gică Petrescu hasn’t even died yet?!?”

So. He understood the gta6 meme immediately because they apparently had the same thing in Romania when he was young, except way, way more morbid

I’m reading this book about the changing arctic and the author stayed with the Nunamiut people of inland alaska for a while and talked to this high school kid who was like “ugh I hate going to school in the spring I wish I was hunting caribou” and I thought that was charming. you often hear about people who are devoted to preserving their traditional culture and knowledge but it’s rare to hear about someone who’s invested in the old ways out of pure teenage selfishness. school is lame and hunting caribou is awesome

I’m not the proudest of this one but I needed to finish it to realize my vision of otasunes first ‘date’…imaging rubbing butts on a snowmobile w some engineer you just barely met for hours before u finally reach a small town where u spend ur last bit of money on civilian disguises and shit food at some run down diner and ur a wanted criminal so every glance from the other patrons makes you nervous but the scientists unwavering gaze makes it even worse and ur lowkey gay and in denial but still thinking about spending the rest of your lives together ❤️awesome

by the way, it's unfortunately completely impossible to make out but the manga on the bedside table are hellsing 2 and akatsuki no yona 1 just because those are the manga i have sitting around my room that came out before or in the 2000s (though i only actually have yona 14 and 15). poor otacon, it must be really hard to get manga out there, i understand his pain.
