I've seen that post on my dash now from multiple mutuals that's like "Israel tried to assassinate Greta Thunberg and the media is SILENT isn't that suspicious?????" so I am begging you all to disengage from clickbait comments on current events if you aren't going to verify them or think critically about the impact of sharing.

Greta Thunberg was NOT the target of a murder attempt on the Conscience. She was not on board and was not expected to be on board at the time it was allegedly attacked. She and other activists who were scheduled to join the flotilla were waiting for the Conscience to dock in Malta, and it never made it there.

The mainstream media was NOT silent about it. The fire aboard the Conscience, and the fact that it was likely caused by an Israeli drone attack, was reported by major news channels when it happened at the beginning of May. Most of the reports also give lip service to Greta Thunberg, but any hypothetical silence about her would have been because her involvement is irrelevant -- because, again, she was not on board and not the target.

That post was an antisemitic trap and you fell for it. Any comments to the effect of "The (((media))) is suppressing stories" -- when Israel and/or a powerful international shady elite is presumed to be involved -- should tip you off immediately that you're reading an antisemitic conspiracy theory and that story either a) was never suppressed at all or b) was not reported on because it's fake. If those kinds of comments don't ping your radar, that means you don't have the ability to identify even the most common antisemitic canards and dogwhistles, and you NEED to avoid carelessly sharing commentary about current events for the safety of the Jewish community around you.

If you can be bamboozled into reblogging "Jews control the media" alongside complete misinformation because OP said "Israel" was the bad guy instead of "Jews", you cannot tell the difference between reasonable criticism of the conflict and rhetoric that actively harms a marginalized group, and that makes EVERYTHING you say about current events dangerous, because anything factual you share is going to lend credibility to the misinformation and bigotry you put next to it. Sharing things irresponsibly WILL hurt people.

One advantage of not really having a strong sense of gender identity is that you’re very [shrug emoji] about how people gender you. Sometimes people call me by she/her pronouns and sometimes they go with he/him pronouns and on the internet people often default to they/them, and neither option is entirely right but also, fuck if I know what would be right, and I don’t particularly care. Therefore I’m perfectly happy to outsource my gender identity to the people around me who actually need to figure out which box to put me in. I don’t need to talk about myself in third person, so really my pronouns sound like a you problem.

This is literally a description of how it feels to be cisgender. Having the luxury of being this blasé towards how you're gendered by others means that no underlying insecurity is being triggered when you're misgendered, and to be that secure in it your gender identity must be congruent with your sex. Gender identity is only really "felt" by people in whom it doesn't match -- if you "don't really have a strong sense" of your gender identity, that's pretty clear evidence that the opposite is true for you, and you could easily inform people of the correct language to use if you chose to do so.

It still doesn't make it anyone else's business if you don't want it to be, but pretending the situation is "My gender is unknowable so I'll leave figuring out pronouns to somebody else" instead of "I'm intentionally refusing to confirm identifying information about myself and fuck you if you sincerely want to gender me correctly" is pretty disingenuous.
