Hi, this is related to your previous ask, but I’m not the same asker. If it is Cyrillic script that decides that they’re related, why are the baltic states included? Do you do the same for different scripts, like Latin script, then? Or arabic? Sorry it just confuses me that you’d base relationships like family through alphabet and not something like language family, which even then feels a little redundant because of the fact that, even if you look at the slavic family, these cultures all have very distinct and different histories, in which these cultures have fought one another or oppressed one another (Poland to Belarus and Ukraine for instance). Not asking you to change your canon or whatever, but it just feels a little confusing to me, so I was wondering what your exact logic behind this was.

To be really honest, I'm not entirely sure. I said in the last post I made that, and a lot of other canon, in 2024. Which was also when I was having my ex help me with it, so frankly I don't even know who's idea it is. I forgot about the whole thing until this year and I myself am trying to currently piece together my own logic— all I can say for *sure* is that the full siblings are related because of their languages. Which yes, makes absolutely no sense

A lot of things are written down but are written down with absolutely no context or explanation whatsoever. I can't tell if there was just some verbal conclusion (with ex) I had come to or something, I dunno.

That being said, I'll probably revise it here sometime. I had gone through all the effort of making them siblings just for a fic that most of the siblings don't even play a part in, so to me, it's not super urgent, but I definitely want to rework it after I finish fixing up chapter 5 with my beta reader.

If anyone has been keeping up with the Russia and siblings thing I have news for you. It gets so much worse

Anyhow, I tried finding the exact logic behind it all so I went back through some messages between me and my ex and... I'll let the texts do the talking

The logic was messy from the start. There was no real criteria other than basically what we believed to be right. Of course, this isn't the entire conversation but this is just the conversation parts worth mentioning.

Somewhere along the line, however, the logic suddenly changed and I can't really find out why. There's no messages about it so idk what happened.

I can only find one thing BEFORE the change which doesn't help considering the fact that it's cut off and no longer exists in my notes

I think the cause of the random change was the insane and unexplainable criteria for the siblings before. I mean, having literally any country the USSR had influence over be Russia's half sibling made 1) no sense and 2) everything a lot more complicated for no reason at all.

The whole reasoning and everything to this day is shrouded in mystery that probably nobody will know the answer to, so, there's not really a key takeaway here.

I definitely will be revising the whole thing to give it some justice and put the stupid thing to rest. If anyone has any suggestions let me know

Yes this is true. Like I said before, the name "Soviet Siblings" is misleading, isn't really applicable, neither is "Slavic Siblings" so, I don't really know what to call them.

Anyhow, they're full siblings (to Russia) because the use of the cyrillic alphabet which doesn't reeeeally make sense but I made it that way in 2024
