Prevent the Spread of Coronavirus by Maintaining Personal Hygiene
Amidst the coronavirus outbreak, it’s highly important to take precautions to be as safe as possible.
Germs live everywhere such as door handles, bathroom sinks, money, and office phones have been touched by hundreds and thousands of other people.
That’s why practicing good hygiene habits are vital for maintaining good health, especially during the Coronavirus outbreak.
Viruses such as the Coronavirus enter our body via the mouth, eyes, and nose, so avoid germs getting to your face by being watchful and keeping your hands clean. Avoid touching your face as much as possible.
Here are some tips that you should follow to prevent illness through good personal hygiene:
1. Keep your hands and body clean
Washing your hands after you use the restroom is not enough, wash your hands frequently throughout the day, especially before meals. You should spend at least 20 seconds washing your hand. The same goes for your body, you should take a bath at least once a day to prevent disease-causing germs from spreading.
2. Be careful about what you touch
Avoid touching shared surfaces such as door handles, grocery carts, gas pumps, elevator buttons, etc. When possible, open doors with your closed fist or elbow. This is especially important when you open doors that have been used by many people such as public toilets or a commercial shop.
Use your knuckle, instead of fingers to touch things like elevator buttons and light switches in public places. Hold the gasoline dispenser with a paper towel or disposable glove at the gas station.
3. Keep hand sanitizer handy
Keep alcohol-based hand sanitizer that is greater than 60% alcohol at home and in your car. Use the sanitizer after touching any object at a public place. Apart from this, use disinfectant wipes at stores whenever they are available.
Same as our bodies, germs also like to cling to our clothes. Don’t wear dirty clothing, the outfit you put on in the morning should be clean and free of any bacteria caused by sweat and other factors.
Avoid going to work or school when you are sick. Avoid sharing utensils and glasses with others. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or sleeve a throw the used tissues in a bin immediately.
Good hygiene practices can keep not only you but those around you healthy and happy. Remember to pay close attention to the above-mentioned tips when your body is most vulnerable, such as when you’re traveling or going to a place where you will be surrounded by a lot of people.
