This movie is freakin amazing omg. 20/10 would recommend. (I posted this thinking this was the short that I watched awhile ago but it’s not, it’s the feature film that they finished and put on Netflix!)

I just finished watching Advantageous, and wow, this film was amazing. I’d watched the short film awhile back, so I was spoiled for the main plot but I was still floored watching the full feature film. It’s a very quiet movie that explores the concept of body transference in a future world and its ramifications on family and identity. This is the kind of sci-fi that makes you think deeper about humanity and what makes our existence. It’s kind of similar to Ex Machina actually, in tone and in thought-provoking material, but without the gross fetishization of two white dudes. Advantageous was written, directed, and produced by a predominantly Asian American crew, and stars predominantly Asian American actors, which NEVER HAPPENS, especially in sci-fi. I would’ve watched it just for that, but this film is also gorgeous, both visually and script-wise. Its portrayal of the relationship between a mother and daughter and the love they have for each other is beautiful and heartbreaking and ;slkajfljslkjfad JUST WATCH IT. IT’S ON NETFLIX.
