Anna was born ordinary. It sounds awful, being born ordinary next to a sister with an extraordinary gift, but Anna shined so bright and was full of so much wonder that she never felt like she was anything less than special. She truly brought joy to everyone she met, especially her family, and while her sister was raised to one day grow up and lead their small kingdom Anna was free to let her imagination run wild.
Anna grew up close to her sister, making snow people or ice skating in the ballroom - in her mind her siblings powers were a game, and she never realized how hard it was becoming for her sister to control them until it was too late. After being struck by Elsa’s powers and having her memories of their time together altered she was very suddenly shut out of her sisters life and left to wonder why.
Upon the untimely death of their parents Anna thought maybe it would bring them together again but if anything the distance only grew, leaving her lonely and desperate for some sort of companionship. When proposed to by a man from a neighboring kingdom whom she hardly knew she immediately said yes, and afraid her sister wouldn’t approve, she ran off and wedded him in a private ceremony. When her sister found out she was angrier than Anna had ever seen and her true power was unleashed, causing her to flee their kingdom and leaving her people to suffer the most bitter winter they had ever seen.
Anna searched tirelessly for her sister hoping to make things right. While the townspeople were all turning against the sisters, their hatred being fueled by Anna’s own husband, she was desperately trying to convince herself that this was all a misunderstanding. Elsa would never intentionally cause her people to suffer, right? The truth was Anna didn’t know anymore, and in the end she had to return home empty handed.
Instead of a warm welcome she was greeted with anger and hostility. Everyone, including her husband, believed she had been equally responsible. How could she not have known? How could she let this happen to them? She was given no choice but to run away from the only home she had ever known.
She eventually found herself in Los Santos, struggling to make a new life. She constantly tells herself that it’s temporary, that it's just a resting stop until she's ready to continue the search for her sister, but the longer she stays the more permanent it feels.
