This morning I posted a new chapter on a WIP I've been updating about monthly after a long hiatus. Last update was a little over a month ago.
I've worked hard to get this update ready for today. My plan was actually to update 3 of my WIPs, but I just couldn't find the time. My stocking season was pretty busy, as was work, and if it's a tie between catching a bit of sleep or writing, I need to choose sleep. It's not like I can write worth a damn when I'm so tired I can't string 5 words together anyway.
So I wrote this 3K chapter in 10-15 minutes bouts, 200 to 400 words at a time when I was lucky, some days adding just one sentence or paragraph. And I was so glad when I finished it yesterday evening and it didn't feel too bad or disjointed.
I used to get a nice number of comment for each chapter, but between several hiatus and the media it's from ending over a year ago, I only get a few now. Whatever, I like this story, and the people who comment seem to like it too.
One of the comments I got today from a username i didn't recognize said "It's a Christmas miracle".
I've been thinking about this way too much today. There is no miracle whatsoever in the chapter, and it's set nowhere near xmas. So. The only explanation I can come up with is, 'it's a Christmas miracle that you updated this story'.
And I want to say to that person... fuck you very much? If you think leaving a passive aggressive comment on a fic that's already updated on an infrequent schedule is going to bring you more chapters faster, you're really a dumbass on top of being an asshole. Right now I have a rare night off when I'm not dead tired, and the very last thing I want to do, thanks to you, is start the next chapter. So why don't you do me a favor and go sit on a Christmas tree for a while?
