we are seeing the narrative shift. they are trying to co-opt and sanitize the movement by separating the "legitimate" peaceful protests from the "ilegitimate" riots. don't buy into it. the riots are a legitimate expression of community rage and pain. they want peaceful protests without the threat of riots behind them because those are easy to crush, ignore, or placate with meaningless reforms. the movement needs to be threatening to the established order for meaningful change to be possible.
also stop comparing current events to fiction. its insensitive and it isn’t the take you think it is.
correct me if im wrong but it seems the author of this article has celebrity/fictional character crushes that have not been experienced by a single other living human and they’re confidently putting this out there like “remember when we all had a crush on the fucking bladder infection guy from green mile? well turns out tom hanks is old now”
OBVIOUSLY i personally am an arbiter of weird celebrity crushes and i love a weird looking human but you absolutely cannot title an article “movie characters WE had a crush on” and then hit me with deuce bigalow right off the bat
pride month starts tomorrow, but don’t let that distract from continuing to protest and donate in support of black lives matter. here are some black lgbt funds to donate to if you are able:
center for black equity
homeless black trans woman fund
miss major’s monthly fundraising circle
pay black trans women
marsha p johnson institute
google doc full of organizations and funds
also, i know many pride events have been cancelled due to covid-19, but if you are going in public to protest or to another event, please be careful and wear a mask. covid is still going on through all this
Someone put red paint on the "Serve and Protect" sculpture at the Salt Lake City police building and it is such a powerful statement.

No. YOU DON’T GET TO DO THIS AND SLIP UNDER THE RADAR. Anyone who’s seeing this, I beg you to reblog. I want as many people to see this shit as possible.
this is really true tho!!! my uncle was a cop in NY & FL and they taught him to shoot first if he had to. anytime a cop feels threatened (and they basically teach cops they’re always threatened) they can shoot. its rlly sick psychological torture shit to help create a police state tbh

Also! Click here to contact his organization and remind him of the blood on his hands. These are his murders too, and everyone involved deserves to feel the weight of guilt.

ways to support the blm movement
this google doc includes a list of petitions to sign, resources to help educate yourself and others, organizations to donate to, and contacts of law officials to get in touch with to express your support for the george floyd and black lives matter movements. this includes ways to help even if you don’t live in america. please read it and support the movement.
use your voice. use every platform you have, no matter how big or how small. nothing will change if you just sit there and watch. if you think you’re the exception, you’re not. remaining indifferent will only support the oppressor. do something.
write to your legal representatives. express your support for legislation that would bring justice to the unarmed civilians who’ve been murdered by law enforcement officers. demand for justice.
call 612-324-4499 ㅡ this is a hotline that will coach you on how to get connected with the people who can arrest the officers that murdered george floyd.
create serious conversation. stop demeaning people who disagree with your philosophies on how to overcome. it is useless and no better than the practices of the oppressor to silence. we need to listen to each other with respect and really consider how we can combine our perspectives to create practical change.
please feel free to add any links or resources or information that you think will be helpful and also reblog to spread awareness. the systems we are fighting against were literally created to oppress marginalized communities and therefore will not go down without a fight. we need to collectively stand up and do something about it.

Season 2 of MDZS is looking good
(stumbled on some gintama screenshots and I just had to)
I honestly cant believe that the statement “If you are teaching kids/teens about sex and sexual feelings then you should also teach them about asexuality and lack of sexual attraction so that they dont feel like something’s wrong with them and force themselves into traumatizing sexual situations to feel “normal” when their peers start developing sexual attraction and start discussing and engaging in sexual activities “ is a controversial take here and is called “discourse”
“They’re too young to –” No. There are plenty of grown aces who will tell you they’ve known since they were very young but did not have a word for it. Many have also expressed that if they had known about asexuality as a kid, they would not have forced themselves into uncomfortable sexual situations in an attempt to fix themselves. By denying questioning kids access to knowledge of orientations like asexuality, you are opening them up to abuse. You are inherently making the community unsafe for questioning kids when you do this.
“But what if they identify as ace and that stops them from realizing they’re gay/lesbian/etc”
You need to let people decide how they want to label themselves and let them know it’s okay to change their labels if they come to find something suits them better. And don’t start hating the ace community as a whole because you felt you misidentified into it – this is no different than a lesbian hating the bisexual community because she used to identify as bi. An entire community is not wronging you when you tell them that you belong there and their first and proper impulse is to believe you.
Let people question and explore. Make sure you’re doing your part to make the community safe for people who are questioning. That means not gatekeeping, that means letting them choose the labels that fit them.
