Just had a long talk with my best friend who is going through a rough time in her relationship and so while i am on the subject I kinda wanted to have a rant about commitment. I have been in a 5 year relationship, and although we didn't work out, I learned a lot from the good things, as well as the mistakes. But I think the biggest thing I learned was that I understood the true significance of commitment. people are going to change constantly, you will never be the same person you where 2 years ago, and that is okay! we are humans, we are constantly evolving, being influenced, finding new passions, emotions changing, and that is where commitment comes in. I don't think people take the word commitment seriously enough, i think that when you commit to someone you commit to loving all the versions of them, not only the one that they currently are but the versions that they will become, as much as the versions they were, and you also commit to falling in love with them over and over again, because throughout your relationship you will constantly fall out of love with the person you are with, and i truly think you can choose who you love, so i think the other big factor about commitment comes in when you repeatedly choose the same person over and over again, and that includes to fall in love with them constantly. I know that one day, when i find the person who I will spend the rest of my life with, it will be with a committed man who will love all my imperfections as well as all my versions. So to anyone reading this, I want you to really think about the commitment and promise you are making, whether you are just dating someone, or marrying them, because I think that its truly sad in this country that people have a stronger commitment to their mortgage, than to their spouse. This was my rant of the night lol
