( sunjae )
now he didn’t believe that for a second. “like i said, it just takes practice. if your balance is that bad, then try and do a handstand against a wall to get used to it. or get someone to hold your feet,” that was how most people learned. no one could just go right into a handstand for the first time and hold it perfectly. though he did note the shaking hands suddenly being held up in front of him, humming deep in thought, rubbing his chin with a hand almost as if he had a beard there. “stable hands are sort of important, yeah,” he ended up agreeing after a moment, “but i bet you could still do a handstand, even if it’s not by yourself.”
in reality, sungyeol was more than up for formality. he often thought it was his age, the way he was raised. the traditional values. for most part, the man glared at anyone who didn’t show proper respect. it didn’t even need to be him. if formalities were forgotten towards an elder overall, a cold and snarky remark was more than likely to escape him. it didn’t mean he was radical. that he didn’t like banter. that’s why he kept indulging in sunjae’s ways. which were quite charming, the boy lingering along the lines of a younger brother to sungyeol.
a small, breathy chuckle left him, following an adamant shake of his head. “of course, why not?” between many people of different nature sungyeol knew, sunjae seemed bright. brushing shoulders in the gym was fitting to his taste, of course, however, limiting their conversations to forms, balance and work outs seemed wasteful. “i wouldn’t be opposed to hanging out with you.” however, admittedly so, it was had to predict whether they would actually have any topic of conversation other than training had met outside of the gym. age and generation gap taken into consideration, it was plausible. “besides.. what kind of a senior am i if i don’t take you out to eat sometime?” it’s only half a joke, a welcoming spark in his eye masking it.
his knuckles went deep into his sides as sungyeol rested his hands on his waist. eyes squinting, he gave sunjae a look of judgement. as if the younger was planning some secret agenda sungyeol tried to figure out. “what are you getting at, kid?” it’s a comfortable kid. no underlined of degrading intention. or superiority. almost a matter of habit, sungyeol meeting younger generations almost every day. “is this your way of offering to help me. because i might just take that.”
a threatening index finger shook right in front of sunjae’s face. the intention was not exactly that. it felt more endearing. fitting well along the lines of the dramatic, exploding mannerisms of the man. “i feel like i’d end up kicking you in the face, though,” it wasn’t like sungyeol was not graceful. on the contrary, he was a good dancer and even quite supple under the right circumstances. but to him he himself seemed just a bit too unstable.
