YAPPING ABOUT MR WOLF!

wolf responds to the kitten’s fear of him in a relatable way, saying things like “i get that a lot, first impressions and all”, and, “i know you’re scared, i would be too if i were you.”

his ears pull back and his face drops a little, his eyes shrink and his eyebrows almost seem sad. i did a little wolf-research to see why his ears would pull back in this scenario, and one reason why a wolf’s ears would pull back is due to anxiety. considering that wolf is supposed to be around 30-32 (according to the TBG fandom wiki), I can only imagine how long he’s had to grow up around a community of people who have feared him/possibly taught him that he will be feared. the kitten’s fear of him reflects how he’s learned to assume that everything is afraid of him, partially because of stereotyping and also because of his public image. now, in this scene, him and the rest of the gang did freak the kitten out trying to save it in marmalade’s exercise, but i think this fact is overruled by the idea of wolf being unsure if his good deed will even come of because of underconfidence.

it makes it so much more meaningful to see wolf succeed in saving the kitten because it’s the first time something has genuinely felt comfortable around him, that he doesn’t need to worry about freaking anyone out because they have built up trust for him. he doesn’t even immediately feel happy, he almost looks shocked, like he’s surprised his plan worked and he won over the kitten. then his fur fluffs up and for the first time in his life, he feels like he’s been genuinely good to someone. this is why this is scene that ranks high on my favorite TBG scenes. it’s just so perfectly done.

THAT WAS THE BEST MOVIE IVE SEEN IN YEARSSSS. The music, animation and GOSH THE CHARACTERS?? shoutout for dreamworks making ACTUAL great movies y’all. Also the wolfington fans , OHHH y’all gonna be happy, it was so cute I can’t. Also idk why some people are complaining about the ending I liked it tbh, great for a potential sequel!!

Wolf and Snake-related Bad Guys 2 spoilers

I really like that while the story didn’t really revolve around Wolf and Snake, being more about the guys as a whole and their struggles with society/relationship with Diane, there were still plenty of moments that spotlighted Snake and Wolf’s friendship:

The back and forth teasing between them, including Wolf being offended at the idea of Snake only introducing him and the rest of the gang as “just roommates” to Susan - and Snake noticing and smirking at this

Wolf still wanting to protect Snake from going to prison even while clearly being pissed at the idea of Snake doing crime behind his back

The way they’re constantly looking at each other during Kitty Kat’s introduction, making it clear they’re essentially the leader and second command of the team, always checking in with one another

Snake being the first one to notice Wolf feeling unsure about being on the good path following Kitty Kat’s speech. Then later, when he attempts to throw the laptop into the forge, Snake being the one to tell him “you’ve got this, buddy”

Wolf giving his speech on hope during the rocket crash, and Snake being the first person he looks at

It’s all just really great ^v^ What’s more, while both of them got love interests, it never felt like they were completely forgetting about one another, which I also really appreciate.

That being said, given where the plot may be going in the third film (fingers crossed we get a third film), I do really want Snake to be the one to talk down a rage-blinded Wolf, dropping the “best thing that’s ever happened to me” line from the books
