@ifelialived
I have a couple of questions. Its not technically my au, but im just creating a world around if Elia Lived and Aegon VI reigned. I married Rhaenys to Robb and Aegon to Floris Baratheon. I read your thing about edric dayne and Arya. Would Arya still marry Gendry if Stannis legitimized him? And who would sansa marry, in your mind, into what house? I know this is like rambling but im actually very curious.
Perfectly fine, but I didn’t write this. You should ask @goodqueenaly.

Ooops sorrry ;-;
Hey, hey. What do you think of Arya giving to a surprised Arianne a flower crown?
“How come that stupid Ser didn’t name her the queen of love and beauty?”
Would have been a Arya Stark-Edric Dayne a plausible marriage alliance?
Thanks for the question, Anon.
Lords’ daughters typically marry their fathers’ bannermen. Especially in the case of Arya, with her sister marrying a royal prince, the Stark vassals might feel even more than one of them “deserves” the only remaining Stark maiden. If that were the case, there are a few options for Arya in the North. Jojen Reed is of an age with her, heir to Greywater Watch, and Howland and Ned were fast comrades during Robert’s Rebellion. Cley Cerwyn is a little older, but not much - around a five year age difference, no great leap by any means - and heir to Castle Cerwyn, a prominent Stark vassal House (indeed, Cley is presumably a descendant of Cregan Stark through his granddaughter Serena, who married her half-uncle and whose daughter married into House Cerwyn). Harrion might be a bit too old - he’s at least 3 years older than his sister Alys, who’s already 4-5 years older than Arya, and I don’t know if Rickard would want his heir waiting another 5 years at least before he could father an heir to Karhold (although, given Rickard’s ambition to make his daughter Lady of Winterfell, waiting a few more years to secure the only daughter of Winterfell available might not be a bad thing).
Of course, Catelyn might push for a grander match than a mere bannerman’s son. Arya’s only a little older than her cousin Robert Arryn, and he’s a splendid catch dynastically (if rather unprepossessing physically and personally). It would be a neat rejoining of Tully bloodlines, and surely no one in the Vale could accuse half-Stark, half-Tully Arya of being not blue-blooded enough to wed the Lord of the Eyrie and Defender of the Vale.
Now, if for whatever reason, Ned and Catelyn skipped all of those options … then, sure, an Edric Dayne match might be possible. I don’t really see that happening though. Ned risks angering his bannermen by giving away both his daughters to non-Northern Houses. A match with a paramount lord might mitigate those feelings, but young Edric is only the heir to Starfall, not the whole of Dorne. Nor is Starfall particularly wealthy or powerful enough to give the North any material benefits that would be worth the ire of the northlords.Â
The Queen Regent (NFriel)
Okay this is probably a stupid question but often it's mentioned how Arya looks so much like her beautiful aunt Lyanna, even Arya doubts that saying that while her aunt is considered beautiful she isn't at all and Sansa, Jeyne plus others call her Arya Horseface. So what is it now? Not that I am superficial but I just want to know. Maybe she's not as beautiful compared to Sansa? Or is she but because of all those comments she doesn't believe it?
Lyanna was beautiful, but not a “classic”, typical beauty. She was “a wild and boyish young thing” per Maester Yandel, “a wild beauty” per Kevan Lannister, looking nothing like the lovely Margaery per her brother Ned. She evidently had the Stark long face, straight brown hair, and grey eyes (like Jon and Arya), which are not stunningly attractive per Westeros norms (compare Cersei’s golden curly hair and green eyes, Sansa’s curly auburn hair and blue eyes and high cheekbones, Margaery’s curly brown hair and golden-brown doe eyes, “beautiful” Melisandre’s red hair and heart-shaped face). I mean, I don’t doubt that Lyanna was certainly beautiful – long faces can be just as beautiful as any other, see some lists of celebrities with long faces (though note Sarah Jessica Parker has often been mocked as looking like a horse). However, it is probable that much of Lyanna’s “soooo beautiful” reputation in song and story is due to the glorious Prince Rhaegar apparently falling in love with her and crowning her queen of love and beauty and stealing her away, and Robert “starting a war” for her, so therefore she had to be the most beautiful woman in Westeros, “everybody said so”, else why would men fight over her like that?
But before Lyanna was this beautiful object of desire and song, she was a girl like Arya. She ran wild in the godswood, rode horses, had messy tangled hair, got dirty picking flowers… and had a long face shape. We don’t know if anyone mocked her as looking like a horse like Arya was mocked, it’s possible, but since there were more Stark-like Starks in her generation probably not. But she grew into her face shape (a big forehead and chin and a long nose can look odd on a pre-pubescent girl, less so on a woman), and Arya will too. When Arya says she’s ugly it’s because she’s internalized the bullying, because she doesn’t look like her classically beautiful mother and sister. But her mother says she’s pretty, her father says she’s pretty, Jon says she’s pretty, Lady Smallwood says she’s pretty, the Kindly Man says she’s pretty, even creepy old men say she’s pretty, she is pretty, she just doesn’t realize it yet. Arya is the Ugly Duckling who will grow into a beautiful swan.
For more details on the connection between Arya and Lyanna and their beauty, please see these posts by the wonderful @donewithwoodenteeth, and these others on @asoiafuniversity too. Hope that helps!
Sansa loves Jon. She has never and will never think of him as only anything. Especially half brother. You do know they are not really siblings but cousins? How dare you make up such shitty lies about Sansa.
Sansa would beg to differ.
“He’s our brother,” Arya said, much too loudly. Her voice cut through the afternoon quiet of the tower room. […]     “Our half brother,” Sansa corrected, soft and precise.
She had not thought of Jon in ages. He was only her half brother, but still … with Robb and Bran and Rickon dead, Jon Snow was the only brother that remained to her.
Sansa literally corrects Arya when Arya says that Jon is their brother. Her thoughts of Jon always include the differentiation of him being her half brother or bastard brother.
“There was a black brother,” Sansa said, “begging men for the Wall, only he was kind of old and smelly.” She hadn’t liked that at all. She had always imagined the Night’s Watch to be men like Uncle Benjen. In the songs, they were called the black knights of the Wall. But this man had been crookbacked and hideous, and he looked as though he might have lice. If this was what the Night’s Watch was truly like, she felt sorry for her bastard half brother, Jon.
She sang for mercy, for the living and the dead alike, for Bran and Rickon and Robb, for her sister Arya and her bastard brother Jon Snow, away off on the Wall.
Sansa could never understand how two sisters, born only two years apart, could be so different. It would have been easier if Arya had been a bastard, like their half brother Jon. She even looked like Jon, with the long face and brown hair of the Starks, and nothing of their lady mother in her face or her coloring. And Jon’s mother had been common, or so people whispered. Once, when she was littler, Sansa had even asked Mother if perhaps there hadn’t been some mistake. Perhaps the grumkins had stolen her real sister. But Mother had only laughed and said no, Arya was her daughter and Sansa’s trueborn sister, blood of their blood. Sansa could not think why Mother would want to lie about it, so she supposed it had to be true.
Note the assertion here that Arya was Sansa’s trueborn sister, blood of their blood. It implies that there is a difference in proximity between a trueborn sibling and a bastard sibling. Sansa goes on to think that it would be easier if Arya was a bastrad like Jon because of that exact sentiment since it is expected for there to be a distance between trueborn and bastard siblings.
Also, Sansa does not know that Jon is her cousin so that has no bearing on how she refers to him, hence the half brother part. That does not mean that I think that Sansa hates Jon or any such nonsense, only that she sees him in a different way from how she sees the rest of her siblings, specifically because he is a bastard.
In short, please do reread the books before you go off in people’s inbox about their so-called lies. Or, if you’re a show-only watcher, perhaps rewatch the scene where Sansa says that she was horrible to Jon as a child and asks him to forgive her.
Someone please teach this boy some basic first aid before he dies again
Do you have any idea how hard I fangirl your ASoIaF art? Discovering it made my day -- no, make that week.
Oh my, thanks I just… It’s surprising because I very rarely draw asoiaf fanart!
OK, have a Sansa and Arya because I don’t know about you, but for me those two together is what dreams are made of <3
