A list of things I will forever be bitter about in regards to Criminal Minds:
Too much emphasis on Reid-Don’t get me wrong, I like Reid, and he’s an interesting character. My big issue is that there’s too much focus and bias wasting unnecessary plotlines that do nothing but screw him over.
Garcia not getting the storyline she deserves-It still disappoints me that Garcia is constantly reduced to comic relief when she deserves a complex storyline that establishes new character development for her. She’s a lot more than the comic relief, and it still frustrates me that we don’t see much of her being front and center in a multi-episode arc(*cough*cough* s11 and 300*cough*cough*)
Emily’s characterization post s12-It was understandable in season 7 as a result of nearly getting killed by Doyle but even then, she still managed to retain some of her personality. By the time she becomes Unit Chief, she suddenly becomes a different person, like what happened? I get that the job carries a lot more responsibility but it doesn’t drastically change your character completely
Unresolved cases-There’s a bunch of them but the one that sticks out is the one with the Romani family. Like did they managed to capture them or are they still out loose? and will we ever get a chance to touch back on that storyline I don’t know
The lack of interactions between Tara, Luke and Matt-Honestly, their friendship has so much potential to be as big as Emily/Reid/Morgan but unlikely due to little attention and screentime they have
Killing off characters for shock value(especially characters of color)-I’m still bitter over Phil’s death
Tara and Matt not having an unsub that is after them personally(I don’t think Martin in Ex-Parte counts)
Tara, Luke and Matt not being the main focus in a multi episode arc like Emily in the Lauren arc, Hotch in the Reaper arc, JJ’s Covert arc, etc
Luke and Matt(particularly the latter) being hated by several Hotch and Derek fans on twitter and instagram for being nothing or worse than their faves
The lack of continuity between seasons
Wasted plotlines that had potential, like the cult in 13x22 and 300 but were rushed and scrapped completely after one episode
Not letting Reid be bisexual and oh having a canon LGBT member on the team
Not knowing whatever happened to the other team in 5x18
Lack of character dynamics and bonding moments in s12-s14
Reid being absent for no reason and not even showing a glimpse of him as a professor in his seminars apart from 13x16
Jeid being a thing-If it was in s2 or 3, then maybe it could work, but it’s already been 14 seasons, plus JJ is happily married to Will(sorry Jeid fans, that’s just my opinion)
Not a single subtle mention of any of the previous characters outside of Hotch and Gideon(like Elle or Blake)
Not knowing whatever happened to Section Chief Matteo Cruz and Anderson? They just…….vanished
Tara being left out and ignored in many CM fics or edits, despite being on the show longer than Luke and Matt
A lot of Matt’s development in Criminal Minds Beyond Borders being erased and ignored
Tara and Penelope being the only ones without a romantic life
Matt not having a flashback regarding something significant in his past
Phil having potential to be a recurring character, interacting with Luke and Garcia, only for all of that to be thrown in the trash now that he’s dead
More or seeing Tara, Luke and Matt’s personal life and background
JJ acknowledging her time as a liaison. I miss her as a liaison
JJ acting ooc in certain moments in recent seasons
cbs giving the show only 10 episodes for the final season instead of 20
Reid’s prison arc taking up a good chunk of s12, when most of it could’ve been focused on Emily adjusting as Unit Chief, or getting to know more about Tara, Luke and Stephen
Matt being cropped out of several scenes in s13 and 14 and shoehorning his introduction in the opening scene in 300 with Luke’s
People forgetting that Matt was an already established character in the CM universe than knew the team prior to 10x19
Lack of focus on Garcia and her personal and family life, like her bonding and reconciling with her step-brother
