Grief is just love with no place to go.
â unknown // Art piece by Ikenaga Yasunari
I miss this show :'(
Everyoneâs getting so excited over Peter Kavinsky, but they forget the original Soft Jockâą, Scott âMy mom buys all the groceriesâ McCall. ICONIC.
Scott McCall is a Bad Friend?
Okay so Teen Wolf Season 5 Episode 11 is pissing me off. Scott just died for 15 minutes, isn't healing and Stiles decides to blame him for his father's condition, saying "You'll heal." To which Scott responds "I'm not talking about me." As if the emotional scares won't linger forever.
Sometimes Scott is too selfless that it makes me mad. I wish he'd punched Stiles in the face in that moment and said "I wasn't there because I was dead. While your dad was dying, I was already dead."
I'm so pissed because even after this, people want to call Scott a bad friend; why is there a whole tag on AO3 dedicated to "Scott is a bad friend" and "Scott is a bad alpha" when he's the best any of them could ever hope for???? They don't deserve him. What the fuck? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?
And I know, I know, Stiles didn't know that his friend had just been dead but that's still disgusting behaviour. And the way he relies on Scott like he can do everything in the whole world at the same time - he was supposed to be looking for Hayden's sister anyway, not Stiles' dad.
Why did no one even care much about the fact that Scott was basically dead? Like, Liam was too busy crying over Hayden than feeling bone-crushing regret for playing apart in the murder of his Alpha.
UGH.
remember when yall sent death threats at tyler posey cuz he didnât support a relationship between a grown man in his 20s and an underage high school kid.
hope yall know better now in 2k18
That Damn Speech
Someone released another gifset with more praise of that speech in that scene. Itâs like my own private torment.
I am labeling this âanti stilesâ even though it isnât actually against the character. The scene in Lies of Omission was totally in-character for Stiles. Â Heâs always been emotionally and physically aggressive when confronted with terrible situations. Heâs always neglecting his emotional health in the hope that it will go away. Â Heâs always held Scott to an unrealistic standard of behavior because of his own deep-set insecurities.
What drives me crazy about this scene isnât that it happened, but rather the fandom response to it. Â All the wailing and gnashing of teeth about âhow dare Scott not ignore his own fragile emotional state and bow down to our poor little innocent woobified baby.â
As anyone who delved deeply into my blog should know, the flashpoint for my rage is always âSome of us are human.â Again, not the speech itself, Â but fandomâs reaction to it. Â As if it was something good. Â As if it was something to praise: Stilesâ cruel and callous attempt to dump his own guilt at Scottâs feet and make it the alphaâs fault.
I wish the Stiles fandom would just take a moment to look at this from Scottâs standpoint. Â Forget that it is their woobie-baby-fandom-bicycle talking and listen to it from the point of view of a person whoâs lost his girlfriend Kira, failed to rescue his beta Liam and his girlfriend Hayden, and essentially given into his darker desires by probing Coryâs mind against his will. Â Just try.
Stiles: Yeah, because youâre Scott McCall! Youâre the True Alpha!
Scottâs POV: Â Stiles is telling him heâs an arrogant sod thatâs gotten everything handed to him.
Stiles: Â Guess what? All of us canât be True Alphas. Some of us have to make mistakes!
Scottâs POV: Â Stiles is telling him that it doesnât matter that youâve let over a half-dozen teenagers be taken, mutilated, and murdered, that the girl you love is in terrible danger and gone somewhere so you canât help her, that you invaded Coreyâs mind, and that youâve lost Liamâs trust. Â Stiles is saying that being your friend is a burden that he doesnât want any more.
Stiles: Some of us have to get out hands a little bloody sometimes.
Scottâs POV: Stiles is saying that it doesnât matter that he has to resist the urge to kill every full moon, that he had to fight off Peterâs attempt to make him a killer, Deucalionâs attempt to make him a killer, and Kateâs attempt to make him a killer in which he nearly butchered Kira. Â Stiles is saying that you have no idea what it feels like to take another personâs life or even want to.
Stiles: Some of us are human!
Scottâs POV: Â Stiles is saying youâre a monster and a freak and where do you get off judging me?
And if that is not enough, Stiles turns around and has the nerve to beg Scott to believe him. Â Stiles knows he just got finished telling him heâs inhuman, self-righteous, and he wishes he wasnât his friend, Â that heâs been deceiving him for weeks, but that doesnât matter, because right now, the only thing that is important to Stiles Stilinski is that Scott exists to validate his existence. Â
Again, given the Nogitsune trauma, given what happened with Donovan, given his own insecurities, this is totally within character. Â Itâs not even an unreasonable response to the stress he is under.
What is unreasonable is to ignore the stress that Scott is under for that scene, for the fandom to actively share in Stilesâ conception of Scott as a flawless superhero (and then turn around and condemn him for being a boring and unrealistic character), and make this entire scene with all the cruel, vicious words Stiles spews completely and utterly about Scott not believing Stiles. Â Â
Yeah, yeah, it drives me mad. Â But I suspect that someone on the Teen Wolf writing staff noticed that it was a bitch, because they seem to be falling over each other trying to make us think that Stiles is a good friend.
Forbidden the âRâ Word
I have been told that it is irresponsible and unnecessarily divisive of me to use the ârâ word when talking about trends in my fandom. Â I canât see into peopleâs souls, it is said, so they could have legitimate reasons for their behavior that isnât racism. Â I should give people the benefit of the doubt and stop trying to point out poisonous behaviors. Â I should accept that people can believe things without being influenced by racism.
I must accept when members of the fandom believe that a Latino teenager is turned into a murderous creature of the night,  is told heâll probably kill everyone he loves, is told he has no choice but get involved with a war, is manipulated by powerful evil forces for his potential, is told heâs the unelected, unpaid âProtectorâ of his city, is told repeatedly that heâs childish for not soaking his hands in blood, and then is used as an unpaid member of the police force (which he consistently does with little complaint) but  he doesnât spend enough time considering the feelings of his white best friend and his white stalker-turned-friend, that he is an extraordinarily selfish person
But I canât use the ârâ word.
I must accept when that Latino teenager makes a statement about a terrible crime he just heard about, such as âWell, then they had a reason,â members of the fandom should treat it as if it were an unforgivable sign of depravity, but when his white best friend tells a wounded werewolf who just admitted that he was dying âOh, my god, what is that? Is that contagious? Â You know, you should probably just get outâ it is banter.
But I canât use the ârâ word.
I have to accept that members of the fandom believe that the Latino teenager is a creepy, invasive, horrible person for sending his ex-girlfriend photographs of their good time together in order to recover an important clue to the showâs mystery, but those same members of the fandom believe that his white best friend is brave and to be pitied for getting his alcohol-challenged father drunk in order to glean information from him.
But I canât use the ârâ word.
I have to accept that members of the fandom think that a Latino teenager is terrible for imprisoning another teenager to prevent him from killing or throwing him into lockers with âenhanced strengthâ even though the other teenager is unaware of his nature as a monstrous killer lizard, but it is perfectly reasonable for a white power-mad character to claw the Latino teenager up for âinterfering.â
But I canât use the ârâ word. Â
When the Latino teenage werewolf is dismissed as a wretched, selfish fiend for stalking (but not hurting) his best friend and responding to a kiss from a beautiful girl who was seeing another person (and his white best friend has an unrequited crush on) all under the influence of a full moon, but the middle-aged white male serial killer should be excused for killing innocents along with the guilty in his revenge spree and for employing gas lighting and outright mind control, because he was âinsane.â
But I canât use the ârâ word.
They can dislike who they want! Â goes the cry. They donât have to explain it, they donât have to justify it, they donât even have to watch the bloody show! Â But it is rude, irrational, and divisive to me to see enormous double standards and wholesale editing prevalent across the entire fandom and suspect that it might be caused by institutional racism, where television has for seventy years taught us that white characters are more important than anyone else.
And thereâs always that vague sense of entitled hurt?  âWhy are you attacking me with that word?  Iâm just being a fan.â

Anti Scott McCall
I recently got back into Teen Wolf and upon browsing Tumblr I came to realise just why it was so easy for me to leave. Sterek fans make me genuinely sick. Don't get me wrong; I ship Scott and Stiles so this isn't a homophobia thing, and I can also respect the ships that other people may have. I have no problem with that. However, it seems to be a re-occurring theme - especially in fanfics (that I most definitely don't read!! đ ) - to make Scott a bad friend. It's gotten to the point where fans are absolutely delusional.
I saw a post explaining how Scott was a dick to Derek, but it seems they all forgot how much of a dick Derek was to everyone else. Like unnecessarily horrible, and I don't care if his family got burned in a fire, it doesn't mean he has to be dickhead and be excused for it. Though, I'm beginning to think the reason Sterek fans forgot is because they're too busy reading smut about a man and an underage boy... but whatever right? Derek has literally smacked Stiles' head on his car and people are drooling over Sterek, but because Scott is enthralled with his new girlfriend and first love apparently he's the worst best friend ever.
People also seem to forget how much responsibility Scott has on his shoulders. He's an Alpha to which everyone relies on him - and tbh, how can Derek expect a Scott, who is virtually a boy to lead a pack successfully without some sort of break down (another reason why Derek is a stupid, stupid dickhead) - and he's never cut any slack. He wants to be a veterinarian for God's sakes as well!!! Do you understand how stressful that is for students in real life? Can you imagine that? You can't expect him to be able to perfectly balance everything while also managing to be the perfect friend. And I think Stiles understands this; he's not a needy best friend that needs Scott to pay attention to him 80% of the day. And Scott does care. When Stiles' dad was missing, he cared. When Stiles called him in the middle of the night (Season 3B), Scott was out there looking for him as soon as possible. Even when Stiles called Scott for Mischief Night or whatever the fuck it was called, Scott woke up and was at the school. If your best friend called you in the middle of the night like "yo come to the school let's prank the teachers" would you really, really, actually entertain their idea? NO because you're fucking sane.
So yeah, I'm pissed off that Anti-Scott people exist because if you're Anti-Scott you better be Anti-everyone because he's fucking trying. He tries harder than anyone gives him credit for and he's not even a dickhead about it (like a certain someone I knowđ). No one could do what he does without caving or killing someone.
P.S. Fuck sterek fans who think that ship could be canon. Lydia and Parrish was dubious in itself but I guess cos she's a senior (which means she's probs 18 right?) it's okay. But when Derek was still in the show, Stiles was most definitely not 18 and therefore Sterek would be ILLEGAL. That's not a great representation of homosexual relationships since there are stupid people who already think gay is synonymous with paedophile.
Also it doesn't make sense. There are more moments between Stiles and his Jeep than there are between Stiles and Derek. I personally think Sciles is cute af, and it would make ten times more sense than Sterek let's be honest here.
Thank you for your time.
