I will never stand for Alpha Derek/Hale pack 2.0 slander bc while the execution might've needed some work, they weren't just flying blind. Derek knew the Kanima could only be one of two people who'd been recently bitten and he tested them to see which one it was. Just because the test was wrong doesn't mean the thinking behind it was, and the Kanima was (as far as they knew) killing people indiscriminately which Derek knew the hunters would and did blame on him and his pack so obviously he had to give them a rough push in training bc their lives were literally in constant danger from a cult who didn't give a shit about evidence and was actively trying to kill them. His plans didn't work bc he was outflanked, not bc they were bad plans. He made the best of an absolute clusterfuck, and I'd like to see Scoot do any better

Yep! And, despite what Scott wrongly assumed, Derek provided his potential packmates with the information he had at the time before biting them so that they could give their informed consent.

He did his best but the deck was stacked against him and he didn't have any support structure to turn to - especially when some of the few "allies" he had (Scott, Deaton) worked against him.

Derek did find stable footing as a leader in season 3B onward (Scott no longer undermining him, working with other adults like Sheriff Stilinski, etc), which was good to see but he should've regained his alpha status by season 4 in addition to gaining the full wolf transformation (or just never lost his alpha status to begin with).

Regaining his alpha status in the movie was far, far too late for how much he'd progressed. I'd hoped for another movie where they'd bring him back and re-explore how he'd do as an alpha with an actual support structure and trustworthy allies but it doesn't seem likely. Hoechlin recently reiterated that he's still interested in bringing Derek back if he gets the chance (ignore that the author is clueless about bringing characters back from the dead being canon) and I hope he gets to someday.

Until then, we have fics to do right by him.

Scott pilgrim takes off was great. would highly recommend. It really just works as a series, as a what if/sequel to the comic series. If I'm being honest, I think what makes it work so well as what it is, is that they get rid of Scott for most of the series. I know he's the main character of the original series, but he was also the weakest, least interesting, and least compelling character imo.

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand why this is, because of who Scott is as a character and as a deconstruction of the character that he is in the story. I completely get that, but still think I'm right about him being the least interesting character even if I get why he is how he is.

I think Ramona is a far more interesting protagonist than Scott, and she's a main character in the comic series, but I feel like she takes a back seat in her own story there. In Takes off she is the MC, she is the driving force behind the plot because she wants to find out about Scott's disappearance which leads her to dealing with her ex's which is honestly far more appealing to me. They talk things out, most of them heal and get over her, something I think is far better than focusing on Scott and him punching them all into coins and junk while slowly getting character development through 6 volumes.

Ship It (mostly)

It's not really one of those ships that I faun over. When it's done well its a nice background ship, but I'd never go out looking for it.

What made you ship it?

I don't remember what the first introduction to them as a ship was. But they are funny on scene together, spend a lot of time while Issac is basically living with them, and they are cute and puppy-like.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Issac is a sassy puppy and Scott is a kind puppy. I think the play between those two can be interesting and at a surface level fun to read/see in art.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I think Scott is a toxic friend and leader. He thinks too much on his morals and bigger picture that he misses the small and subtle things about the people around him. With Issacs history with his father and constant childhood abuse, and the way he compensates for it with sass and false bravo, Scott would turn into a secondary abuser. Issac wouldn't say anything or stand up for himself because the neglect would be a bit of a familiar comfort even if it caused pain. And Scott with his hero complex would only ever see that Issacs life has improved and pat himself on his back, never actually seeing how his self-obsorbed tendencies are their own form of abuse.

Sorry that turned out longer then I anticipated. I have a lot of mixed emotions about these two. (And I'm not a fan of Scott McCall)

Had a dialogue conversation thought up for Sterek

Derek: It's ridiculous that you care about what time you're calling them. You never cared about what time it was when you called me as long as you were in danger.

Stiles: *dips his head down and mutters* 

Stiles: That's because I knew you would come for me, no matter what.

Derek: What do you even keep Scott as a best friend for if he won't even think about dying for you once? All I see between you two is him taking everything and you giving everything, he never gives anything back to you. Do you want to sacrifice yourself until you're dead? I don't think Scott could ever appreciate you dying for him because he never understood what you're sacrificing for him.

Stiles: *gets progressively sad and then angry* 

Stiles: What about you then? You always live your life like it's your last as if you have nothing to live for! Why don't you take care of yourself more, hypocrite?

Derek: Because I have nothing to leave for which is why I throw myself into danger so others could live.

Stiles: What about me? You could live for me, asshole! I care whether you live or die!!

Stiles: What about me, asshole?! Live for me, you idiot! I care whether you die or not!

Haha! I confess I am right there with you. Scott is an asshole. But it’s like after you watch to the end of TW you realize he was always that way!!!! I have to say, S1 Derek was so damn pretty! And omg! His hair! His hair was reason enough to watch. 😂

I don’t generally associate a person with characters they play but it has taken me years to separate Jill Wagner from Kate Argent!!! I take Derek’s mental and emotional health very seriously! Especially considering he’s a character on a tv show!!! Jill is so very pretty and she’s a Hallmark queen now and she is so very nice on her InstaStories and I still see Kate Argent. So congrats to her on the fantastic job she did of bringing that bitch to life. 😛

Yikes. First of all, the scene being played for comic relief actually makes it worse, given that Isaac is canonically an abuse victim, which they all know. 

2. Regarding Lillaeth’s comment: Notice how you never come to this conclusion in regards to Stiles. Remember, that darkness is influencing them for the rest of their lives, not just season 3. So that automatically excuses all of his attacks on Scott in season 5 that you like to claim, right? 

3. notice how only Scott became violent during that whole sequence of events? Stiles couple read, Allison was hallucinating, and Scott attacked Isaac. But I don’t think that scene was at all a part of the “darkness”. Every other time the three of them were hallucinating and obviously affected, we got a scene where they recognized that. In the scene with Isaac, Scott didn’t. 

Isaacs “Do you want to hit me. Are you sure? I think you should hit me.” Is a direct response to how he was raised. When he gets in trouble, his dad abuses him. He’s expecting Scott to want to do the same, and while being fully aware of this, Scott then follows through. Tell me, is that good alpha material to you? 

Oh, and let’s not forget. This was in response to Isaac saving Lydia’s life. 

The “they’re werewolves” excuse doesn’t even work here because both of them have been werewolves for what, less than a year? If this were Derek and Cora, alright, because they are wolves, they’ve grown up with those instincts. Scott and Isaac haven’t. 

It’s a gross scene and I hate that the writers do it twice, and play it for laughs. it’s a fucked up thing to do, and it is 100% because Scott is jealous. The “It’s not like you kissed her.” “no.” “But did you want to?” SLAM! is an act of literally violent jealousy.
