The tongue swells to outrageous proportions, threatening to burst, to pop like a grape between the teeth. It inflames, grit and sand and torturous thickness. What is it to speak, to cry out? The act is forgotten against this throat, this needle-thin tight rope that cannot defy the weight of heat and desert madness.
Like a lover, the sun has torn through cloth and scarred the skin. Worst is the arms, once raw and bloody now seared like a steak, sinew sizzling as muscle spasms and groans.
What an unbearable desire this is. And still the body drags itself forward. To the call, to the jagged wound that cuts through the sky-memory, mirroring his own.
Dark and ever present, who is he to deny the fire beating in his ribs that carries him home? For did he not once and always serve the Beam, as all things do?
Banished, the child returns to kneel at the throne.
Undone, She returns to the place of Rebirth.
The Center of it all.
The Tower.

People are puppets held together with string There's a beautiful sadness that runs through him As he asked me to pray to the God he doesn't believe in
Time and again boys are raised to be men Impatient they start, fearful at the end But here was a man mourning tomorrow He drank, but finally drowned in his sorrow
He could not break surface tension He looked in the wrong place for redemption Don't look at me with those eyes I tried to unheave the ties Turn back the time that drew him But he couldn't be saved A sadness runs through him Through him
You, look at me now, with those hollow eye sockets and smile And it seems all a lie, what they've told me so far And you, show me that life isn't all about extending your time No, it's the perfect time for a bottle of wine
Why do I still care about all who might recall me For everything dies, so does memory And why, am I still surprised, about all who pray their sins away Aren't they too a part of this grand ballet
When time occurs, don't make it right Don't make me right, it's me to decide: this or that side This or that side
Death suits you dear sir, like a beautiful coat, but then without all the fur I wonder would it fit me? What would you have me prefer Some people would rather not exist, they put a gun to the heart or a knife to the wrist

Partially leucistic female cardinal at my bird feeder. We’ve seen her a few times now and more recently with a boyfriend. I think she’s a local.
